Nice video. When fighting a fish you don't just feel in you fight the fish, when just reeling in causes line breaks, rod snaps and as it happened with you and the Cuda the fish to come off. Also when hook setting never yank that hard it is super unnecessary and will lead to the same things as above. Hope this helps.

I would love to know that myself. I have an Ol' Salty spinning combo on the way as well as my first Mystery Tackle Box. I can't tell what she used to hook that shark but would love to do some research on it. I live in Savannah, GA and there's so many places here to fish that I can't wait to hit. There's a little place literally 2 minutes up the road from my house and my uncle has a pond he owns right next to the church he pastors. Gonna be a great summer down here!

As everybody will tell you, that first fish was a Hogfish (Lachnolaimus maximus), a species of wrasse found in the western Atlantic. The one you caught appears to be a male judging by the black spot behind the pectoral fins and the dark line from the snout to the dorsal fin. It wasn't always that way however. Hogfish are among those odd species that are known as "sequential hermaphrodites". They start off as females and then, after about three years, turn into males!
