I found out 6 years ago I was diabetic when I had an accident and was in hospital. I'm now 67. I was very depressed and while alone at night I searched the Internet for help and you were the first person I found. Once out of the hospital I changed my food habits and have stayed below 6.0 till now. Two months ago I fell and damaged my hip. The doctor has tried different procedures and medications to take pain away but not worked. During these 2 months I still eating same food but because loss of sleep and pain my sugar has risen from 120s to the 300s. I am having to take metformin starting today for next two months to get A1C down for hip replacement in April. Disappointed but determined to get off the med after surgery. Thank you Dennis for being my guide all these years. You will give me strength to become med free again soon

Hi Dennis, a new low for me this week. I’ve now hit a 5.2 A1C (last A1C was 5.5) and it’s really because of your channel. I push your channel every time I can when I talk to someone struggling with T2 or even T1. I’m not surprised people get lost and struggle when being told to eat brown rice and. quinoa by their docs. I just got this told to me at an endocrinologist appointment. I told her no thanks.

I am a 59-year-old Latino male. On December 23, 2024, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I had an A1C of 12.2. This day will be my "wake-up" call, my slap in the face, my moment of walking the hero's journey. I lived my life as if food was my solace for the emotional emptiness I was feeling. No mas! For eight days, I have radically changed my diet/lifestyle, and I feel a little better. More energy, less urination at night, and a greater sense of peace. I still have a long way to go but will be "transformed" in 2025. I have followed Beat Diabetes! for about six months only because I suspected "something" and thought I could change this without going to the doctor. Wrong, I needed to go to the doctor and actually see the numbers. My glucose monitor is becoming my best friend along with Dennis Pollock. I ask all of you to please pray for me (Rafael) on this journey. December 23rd is now the most important day of my life. I will not be defeated. No mas!

Thank you Denis, I was 68 (2021) when diagnosed as pre diabetic and needed meds. (no to all med) I found you and your friend Jason Fung. You are correct that I completely reversed it and it was difficult in the first 3 months (a lover of making homemade bread), today is New Years Eve 2024 and once again my Dr. tells me I am not a diabetic; BUT I still check in with your weekly videos as I like to hear you reiterate that it can be done but lifestyle is important. I still daily check my blood sugar and love my numbers fasting glucose is mostly in the 80s and when I eat is approx 120 even after having a once or twice a month treat like pasta or French bread or brioche. My fondest wishes to you and Benedicta and THANK YOU THANK YOU "May 2025 Be Yours Best Year Ever"

@@BobbyRHicks Yes I do fast but after 4 years it is a life style, Christmas and New Years there is a lot of celebration I do not refrain from all the goodies (don't want to be a party pooper) even tomorrow it is late brunch with family and friends we are enjoying panettone French toast, Champagne and the families special request Irish Trifle. Back to your question regarding fasting. I usually start eating at 12 midday and try and finish eating with a large salad between 4 - 5 pm. I cured all ailments, arthritis (had it for 10 years before) allergies all gone, no more limping no more swelling of feet and ankles, I walk like a 50 year old and with confidence.

Hi Dennis, I found out in June that I was diabetic when I had a routine blood test. I had no symptoms so was amazed. My A1c was 93 (UK) I've changed to a liw Carb diet and by Decemver my A1c was down to 51 and I now weigh 126lbs. My aim for 2025 is to get my A1c down to under 42 and to stop taking Metformin. Wish me luck!

I changed in my late 50s. Yes, it would have been beneficial to make the low carb change earlier but I really believe that I’ve avoided a lot of the suffering that I was clearly headed for. It took me a lot of years to understand exactly what I needed to do because of subpar medical advice.Happy new year Mr. Dennis!

I don’t know if I completely agree that it can take 20 or 30 years to become Diabetic. I used to get lab test and my A1C was normal. A year before I was given. the news that I was diabetic my A1c was normal, and then the next year I had a Urinary tract infection and my doctor took a urine sample after a couple of days my doctor called me and told me that I had sugar in my urine, so he wanted me to come back into the office and do lab work. After waiting for the lab work to come back for a couple of days I got a call saying that my blood sugar was 300 and that I was diabetic, I don’t remember what the A1c was at that time but my blood sugar came back at 300 or 350 it was such a long time ago that I don’t remember exactly what my blood sugar was but it was like over 300. So my doctor prescribe me Metformin and told me to take it twice a day and for a while my blood sugar under control, but then my blood sugar just got worse and worse as I continued to gain more and more weight. I did manage to beat it and my A1C is 5.5 now, but I still have neuropathy in my feet I have not been able to reverse the neuropathy in my feet. Anyway, I don’t see how I could have normal blood sugar one year before and then one year have a blood sugar of 300. I will agree that I was probably insulin resistant for a very long time, however, I didn’t even get the news of going from prediabetes to diabetes, it was just all of a sudden I’m diabetic.

Greeting from the Pacific Northwest! I am 68 and I have changed! I have been on the low carb way of eating for 18 months. I have made excellent progress. Like you say, it took me 25 years to become diabetic. I am continuing this way of life, I’ve had a few setbacks, but the positives outweigh the negatives. My goal is to reduce and eliminate the meds. My education started 18 months ago, right before you tube ratcheted down the algorithm regarding the low carb/KETO you tube videos. Found amazing teachers, you being one of them. Thank you for being an amazing teacher, one who teaches by example, encourages us whose journey is taking longer then expected. The changes in my health are positive and my goal is to continue getting living the low carb life. I will get there. Thanks for all you do ! God Bless!

Tell me more about the algorithm thing. There doesn't seem to be any shortage keto channels. I'd be okay if they did remove some of the keto grifters just selling crap.
@TerryAvis-d5z3 күн бұрын
@ unless I specifically search Keto, low carb, ketovore, Dr Ken Berry, Dr Jason Fung, Dr Eric Westman, low carb down under, Dr Unwin, Beat Diabetes, and other well known contributors. When I started my journey July of 2023, these people were easy to find but now, rarely show up on my feed . I have to be specific in my searches. Big money unfortunately is very powerful, because there is no money in curing diabetes or obesity. There is money in feeding us processed foods and selling us overpriced medications. It’s our reality, therefore we must do our own due diligence and find people we trust, check the research and learn. We have to take control of our own health. It’s an amazing journey when you are in charge and have people like Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Eric Westman among others who got tired of watching patients die and discovered that our standard American Diet is the culprit.

Why can’t no sugar yogurt be part of our eating?
@kathym66034 күн бұрын
For one thing "no sugar" is probably a "come on" used by the seller that does not have a lot of meaning. Here are some things to know. Full fat /whole milk yogurt has fewer carbs than low fat yogurt. Start with FULL FAT YOGURT. Maybe eat only six ounces a day. Buy the healthiest yogurt you can find. I would not be eating yogurt just because the label says "no sugar." The following yogurt is high quality and contains only natural milk sugar. You can always add Stevia yourself. Six ounces of this yogurt has 9 grams of carbs. How does it fit in your carb limit for the day. BRAND: Stonyfield Organic Whole Milk Probiotic Yogurt, Plain Ingredients: Cultured Pasteurized Organic Whole Milk, Pectin, Vitamin D3. 6 Live Active Cultures: S. Thermophilus, L. Bulgaricus, L. Acidophilus, Bifidus, L. Paracasei and L. Rhamnosus. DANNON HAS A SIMILAR ONE BUT IT IS NOT ORGANIC: CULTURED GRADE A MILK, LIVE & ACTIVE YOGURT CULTURES S. THERMOPHILUS, L. BULGARICUS & L. ACIDOPHILUS

Also yes, giving up carbs doesn't fix diabetes. It's a bandaid and it's not the same as curing it. A cure would mean you can eat like a normal healthy human being and for those people carbs are a critical part of their diet. If you need a high energy lifestyle, you need carbs. Period. Sitting around uselessly doing nothing might fly when it comes to eating no/low carb, but good luck eating like that and living a fulfilling life.
