For reference on the subs I've heard/own are: Sonos Sub gen 3, Audioengine S8, RSL Speedwoofer mkii, Klipsch 10" entry level sub in their reference series, a cheapo Polk 10" that was like 90$, and a SVS SB3000. I have a pair of PB3000s, but have only hooked up 1 to my setup due to lack of space. The single PB3000 is overkill for my room which is like 16x24, and in my seating position it literally shakes my floor, and plays loud AF while sounding tight and clean! I'm a bass head and this just brings a smerk to my face while watching action movies and or listening to HIP HOP. Super happy with it, and just don't think I need more than what this offers. I'm 85% movies and shows, and about 15% music.

Great review! Was waiting for this one. After owning SVS for a couple years (SB4000, SB3000), and very much enjoying them. Very very good subs! Especially the App! I recently purchased 2 PSA S1512 subwoofers. The REW measurements are quite similar, slightly more output with the SVS, Maybe a few db, at over 100. The PSA's measured flat to 10hz in my room. (Thanks Barrett!!) That's one difference. The other is the PSA's are a bit more articulate, cleaner, and solid, they hit like a hammer... faster. I am 75%music, 25% HT which really made a difference for me. The ultra low end wasn't a big deal, considering that 10hz content is rare especially in music. Glad I have it now! re watching many movies, there is a difference!. SVS are awesome subwoofers hands down. The small differences between the PSA, melt down to personal taste. I do miss the SVS! What are your thoughts after hearing both?
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech Жыл бұрын
Hey John, I hope you're well buddy! I think you nailed it. The PSA are clean, hard hitting and articulate. The SVS are a little less so, but have more peak output, but only down to 16hz, where they fall off a cliff.

@@Johnnytrades101 The bass response on Dirac was great. It cleaned up your response considerably. We went from, ohhh that's ugly...to ohhh that's a great response, and all it took was Dirac. It does trim the bass a little low for my liking, but that can always be turned up with gain or trim levels.

Thanks for the video! I’m looking forward to the comparison. I recently sold my single X15 that I was using in my office 2.1 channel. I scored one heck of a deal on a Paradigm Signature Sub 1 and have been using that in the office instead. That being said, I’m always on the lookout to try something new and this one happens to be on the radar (and the pb4000). I will say this, the X15 was very nice for music in my 2 channel setup once it was ARC tuned. The X15 was just physically way too big for that space. The Sub 1 is like a toy in comparison, size wise.

@@michael-4k4000 Ive never heard the pb2000. I imagine it is very similar just in a slightly smaller way. I've seen people say it's kind of a rule of thumb to not mix sealed and ported. In my experience, I prefer a ported enclosure. It's more versatile if you listen to a lot of different genres, especially bass oriented genres like electronic and hip hop etc etc. Svs PB subs come with foam plugs and in the app there's a preloaded sealed tune you can use. I find that plenty enough if I want to tighten things up. Another reason to go with ported is if your rig is also used for movies. I'm an audiophile sinner with liking a ported sub haha

@dsmdarryl SVS PB-2000 Pro is the actual name. They are all very similar for the most part. Thanks for the feedback, am trying to figure what to do with my old sub if I upgrade. I bought a pair of PB3000's for my SVS Prime Towers and surround. I like the sound of them with the sound plugs installed and in Sealed mode. Even though I have a large room, real oak hardwoods and vaulted ceiling with them plugged when I watch a movie the explosions and gunshots hit hard in the chest. You feel low frequency everywhere even sometimes without hearing it, hard to explain. The movie the commuter, I can feel the train coming without hearing it if that makes sense. I ran REW to adjust phase because my subs are not facing me directly and I had to tweak the curves slightly, I get a lot of room gain at bottom frequencies so Plugging them worked out perfect and no hollow woody sound like you get with ports open. These have WAY WAY more output then the SB3000's but are much much larger. If you are sealed sub fan, like myself get these ported subs and order them with the foam port plugs, they won't disappoint.

One of the things I already prefer on the Paradigm x15 is that nice clean looking grill it has compared to the industrial looking one that SVS has. In a dedicated home theater this may not be an issue, but in a living room/theater room it definitely makes a difference having nice clean looking setup. Thanks for the support on the channel brother. In my honest opinion, I would skip the PB16's altogether. There is better performing subwoofers for less money. Even the budget Tonewinner D6000 subwoofers compete with the PB16 Ultras, and they are far less money. I would recommend 2 Tonewinner D6000 subs to give you more output and a better room response than a single PB16. You could also look at Rythmik subwoofers, their ported FB18 18" subwoofer is only $2219 USD. It will out perform the PB16 in the low end below 20hz, PB16 will have slightly more from about 20hz - 63hz and then the FV18 has more above 63 hz. That is when you compare their CEA2010 numbers. The Rythmik subs are servo subs, meaning they are incredibly accurate. If you are willing to move up to even more big boy bass, you could look at the JTR CAP2400 $3499 USD. It is a little more expensive than the PB16, but it will give you more output pretty much across the board over the PB16. We are talking over 100db at 10hz and upwards of 120 db in the higher frequencies. This will give you much more in tactile response and low end authority. It would be night and day better over the PB16, especially in the low end authority.

haha yeah and need some felt for my fireplace glass, but yeah she likes to vibrate. To be fair, it only sounds like that when I am pushing subwoofers for demos, at normal volumes it doesn't sound like that lol.

lol, well they definitely aren't in the same league as the JTR's . For the price, the PB3000 does a great job destroying my room though.

Peak power absolutely means nothing, a peak for a few seconds... The subs amplifier section is 325w rms, thats at less then 1 percent distortion, at 2500, it would certainly be more than 10 percent distortion
