Hey Brian, loving the Orbea! How do you find it compared to the Santa Cruz ? I only just recently converted my tyres to tubeless on my YT Jeffsy but just wondering was the puncture you had too big for the sealant to plug the hole ? Them strips seem impressive!

‘Arm Chair X-MTB’ here again. Brian I just figured out a way to ride with you in my home I couldn’t take it anymore!I’m going to buy a indoor trainer for my bike and mount my iPad near the head position. Then I can VR the experience through the visual senses safe without falling down. I get my #1 thrill back!! Thanks BKXC

There you go, dude! I'm not sure if you know, but I have a Patreon page, where you can pledge $3 a month and watch "extended cut" versions of my riding videos. They're usually about 45 minutes long and a lot of people watch them on the trainer. Here's the link: patreon.com/bkxc

Taint tip, download an angle finder app, put something flat across the top of your seat to create a level surface, lay your phone on the flat surface and check your angle. I've had the best luck with 1.5° forward tilt. Check where you are at and make .5° adjustment at a time. Angle finder app also works great for matching your brake levers.

hey Brian. Looks like a beautiful day for a ride. I was looking forward in particular to this ride because I've ridden around Prescott myself. Only twice, though. I had hoped that you might hit up one of the two areas I have ridden, but I knew the chances of that were slim. At any rate, it was nice to see some familiar terrain. Prescott is one of my favorite towns in Northern AZ (technically, Prescott is closer to the middle of the state, but it's north of where I live, so there you go). Both of the trail systems I rode were when I was there for the NICA meets. This was neat to watch. Thanks for bringing us along. -Brian P.S. I decided to forgo my normal commenting style and just enjoy this video. 😉

About shape, I did an average of less than 90km per month, June 2017 I did 409 km, the result was leg fatigue, like I had no power in the legs and got tiered quickly. Checkout your strava stats, do you do too much for your condition ? Recovery rides seem to help and yo might wanna try some cardio endurance gym work. Some people advise it to boost performance. Nice ride, I liked this trail 👍

BKXC I thought so, I mean not so many rides and when you do you go hard, maybe the key is being consistent expecially aiming for the big ride you're planning. I don't know your diet but maybe you need a more energetic meal and filling fluids day before and before riding, but I think that you know that. Try to figure a way to workout when not on the bike, i know it might be complicated with your schedule. Any way I'm happy for you for living the life you want. 👍

Have you ever tired those little C02 tanks? Fills u up a bajillion times faster.
@TonyMannyGallo
@TonyMannyGallo 6 жыл бұрын
Those CO2 tanks are pretty sweet cause they pack away really small & inflate really fast but they have two downside in my opinion: (1) They only have enough air for ~2 full 2.3" MTB tire fills and (2) once you open a canister it loses all it's air after 48hrs. If you're out on shorter rides they're able to get you back to your car, but if doing long epic rides you may not have enough air to fill a slow leak. I've moved to a small hand pump after running out of CO2 canisters for the peace of mind on my longer rides, but for some riding styles they're ideal.

Are you using padded shorts or bibs? I find bib shorts to be way better since they slide around less. More than any clothing I think your chamois needs to be clean and dry. And if I ride more than 1.5hr I always use chamois cream - personal preference is the Rapha stuff.

Chamois shorts. Good call on the bib though!

BKXC Especially given how long most of your rides are, I cannot recommend trying out chamois cream enough.

6 plugs! Was it Maxxis also? Loam Ranger is having trouble w/ a Maxxis... I've had similar to you w/ a hole in between tread not sealing & a m8 of mine had a rather large bubble growing in between his tread. Looks like all our issues have been w/ the DHRII too o_0

That's the trouble with sealant and tires, you don't know how often it's saving your ass, you only know when it fails!

Traction is so important that people don't run enough psi in their tires. Phil got me hooked on cushcore and I haven't had a pinch flat since. My DHRII's work flawlessly here in Sedona. I think Ryan's issue was front tire wash out due to a wrong tire choice.

Brian, only because you asked... re. "taint issues": #1) I ALWAYS use 2 chamois pads! #2) (my buddy who got me started riding laughs at me for this one & says I look like an newb but I don't give a shit!) I ALWAYS use a seat pad cushion! I don't care what it looks like, I only care about enjoying my ride and that stupid pad makes a huge difference. Don't be one of the cool kids, use the pad!!!
