Chun Li (Ming-Na) antagonizes her captor, General M. Bison (Raul Julia) in this 1994 video game movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. This is the greatest scene in this god awful movie. "... but for me, it was Tuesday."

The focus and concentration he maintained are things that I’ve carried with me for the rest of my career. When he stepped on set, he was that character.” Seth, too, has fond memories. “He used to sneak out at night like a tomcat,” he says. “He would go off gambling with a big Havana cigar clenched between his teeth. @catreecemacleod41579 жыл бұрын
+Eric Stevenson I'd have to disagree with Maltin. Pretty much every other video game movie takes itself seriously. Blood Rayne (Uwe Boll, what do you expect?), Doom, Super Mario Bros., pretty much all of them try to be serious and fail. Same goes for almost every other video game movie out there. The 1994 Street Fighter didn't even try. It threw out absurdities and epic lines fairly consistently the whole way through and even managed to scrape together a somewhat reasonable plot, even by action movie standards - and well beyond that of other video game movies. No, it doesn't try to keep the characters consistent with the games, no, it doesn't try to take itself seriously, and no, it's not going to be ever considered a masterpiece... yet over a half dozen of my favourite lines of all time come from that one movie. ...But I guess you didn't SEE that, did you!? =P Really though, as video game movies go, the Street Fighter movie is seriously one of the best. Yes, it's cheesy as hell, but that's kind of what they were going for since they knew there was no way to make a SF movie that was serious and didn't suck. So they didn't try. It's "bad" in the way a bad pun is "bad" - it's SUPPOSED to be bad. That's the whole point. It's consciously aware it's bad and revels in it. And those reviewers who call it a bad movie have therefore missed the whole point. Fortunately for them, there's a solution: Quick, change the channel!

It fits with his delusional train of thought, his introduction of bison dollars for example and angering sagat (his key ally for that!) In a sense him being a walking fantasist makes him dangerous, not for having a army to begin, but he was willing to push forward super soldiers like blanka. Not Shakespeare of course but it carries the narration of bison twisting his actions in a sense of a greater pursuit of good.

@@worldofthought8352 Man, delusional villains are always great when pulled off properly. How far he will go to realize his fantasies is what makes him so dangerous in this movie. And of course Julia`s acting is cream of the cake for that.

His performance in this movie spoke volumes on how good his acting was. The sad part is he could not give the role the 100% that we all know he is capable of. He was already very ill during the filming of this movie which did have an impact on his overall performance. The movie would of still tanked but if he was fully healthy for the role, he would of taken the M Bison character to a totally different level.
@IanHunter786 жыл бұрын
I think it had less to do with his health, and more to do with the cheesy script. He did outstanding with what he had to work with, but it truly would have been outstanding had the script been better.

What I truly *adore* about this scene? Pay *really* close attention when Bison responds; he is *not* bragging, he is *confused.* He just doesn't *understand* why Chun Li is angry. AT ALL. He had and has power; he used and uses it to fulfill his needs and desires. "Are you *really* saying you wouldn't have done the same, if you had had the power? Of course I took all the cookies from the plate; what baffles me is that there were any left to take in the first place." He really and truly is so batsh!t insane that he doesn't understand why people resist him, why he hasn't the world surrendered to him already.

The way I see Raul's Julia's Bison. This is pre psycho power bison before his powers consumed his mind and made him pure evil. Before the psycho power he was charismatic leader dictator. Everything you see in the movie is what bison was before the psycho power. The end of the movie when bison hand comes up from the rubble is when he discovers his inner psycho power and after that the Bison we see hear is nothing but the embodiment of pure evil.
