Great video, Paul. Is it possible to set up just the Ubiquity access points without a UBR, instead using the Starlink as the router? I have Starlink feeding from its ethernet attachment into a switch, which is then providing all data points throughout my property with connectivity. Can I plug a wireless access point into one of these data points or do I need the UBR and to bypass the Starlink router?

The UDR was really there to make things easier as it runs the Cloud software needed to configure the Ubiquiti Access Points. As long as you install that software on your phone or a computer, then yes, leave the Starlink router running and add your Ubiquiti Access Points to the switch and you will be up and running.

Hey, great to hear from you. If I was doing the setup (depends on the budget) then I would probably go with a UDM-Pro or UDM-SE. You then don't mention which access points, so let's assume U6 or U7, then I would consider the USW-Pro-24-PoE or the USW-Pro-Max-24-PoE as options and that should get you up and going. @@The_Tech_Geeks Hi Paul, Thank you for your quick response and helpful advice. I will be using 13 Ubiquiti U6 access points with 23 AWG Cat6A cables. Would it work well to put a standard USW-Pro-24-PoE switch and a Dream Machine Pro in the rack? Is this entire system compatible with Starlink and would it function optimally? Could I skip using the Dream Machine Pro and connect the USW-Pro-24-PoE switch directly to the router that comes with Starlink? I really appreciate your help.

If you run the Unifi controller in software and you are happy with the routing of the Starlink router and the lack of control you ahve over IP allocation etc, then yes you could go direct to the PoE switch with no issues.

Thanks for all your assistance guys but I have another problem! I have followed your video to setup the UDR with the Starlink router with the adapter and everything appears to be fine as I have the UDR displaying an internet signal as well as a solid blue ring on the top BUT my phone says "No Console Found". I am not sure I have the right app on my phone. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for getting in contact. You wil need to have downloaded the Ubiquiti Unifi Network app to your smart device. You will need to make sure Bluetooth is enabled as well, as I believe the intial setup uses that for communication with the device. Once set up, you will need to join the new wireless network you have created to be able to connect to the OS Console. If you have not been able to configure the device at all, then it may be worth trying a factory reset and runnig the process again, or plugging a computer in to one of the LAN ports and configuring it using a web browser. I hope this helps further.

@@The_Tech_Geeks Thanks again! Do you have a link to the actual UniFi Network App (I'm in Canada) as it appears I may have the wrong app on my phone. I tried downloading a Windows Network installation but it fails to install and returns an error code.

Hi Guys! I want to thank you for ALL the assistance with setting up the Dream Router and AP mesh units. We have successfully setup the UDR in the shop that is connected to the Starlink Satellite (bypass mode) and have two (2) Unifi AC Mesh units (one on the exterior of the shop that is hardwired via 100' of CAT 6 cable to the UDR) and the other mesh unit in the "Living room" of the house (approximately 150' from the shop). Everything works great and signal is strong HOWEVER, the cellphone calls keep getting dropped in the house and we're having to walk over to the shop to complete calls. Any suggestions for making WiFi stronger in the house? Thanks in advance!@@The_Tech_Geeks

Sounds like another access point in the house could help. I would personally put the AC Mesh that you at the house on the outside wall of the house, so it can get a good signal from the one on the shop. Then run the cable in to the house and plug in a U6-LR in the house. That should help sort the wireless issues you are having.

Has anyone managed to get the starlink wifi extended via the use of a stand alone mesh ubiquiti wi-fi extender?

Good question. This depends on what you mean by wireless extender. If you mean a Ubiquiti wireless access point like an AC-Lite or U6-Lr etc, then I am afraid not as these are not extenders / repeaters and won’t connect to a current non Ubiquiti wireless and repeat it. The only Ubiquiti option would be the Ubiquiti MeshPoint HD (part of the amplifi range). I hope this helps. The best option is to add the Starlink Ethernet adapter and then extend from there.

@@The_Tech_Geeks We are currently in Canada (BC) running a Starlink satellite and trying to add the UniFi AC Mesh to extend the signal from the shop to the house and yard. Anyone with help on this would be greatly appreciated. Do we need the UniFI Dream Router to make this work? Thanks! Dan

Good question. The AC-Mesh can’t repeat your current starlink wireless, it can only create a new one. If you have the Gen 2 Starlink dish (the rectangle) you will need to purchase the optional Ethernet adapter from starlink. You can then plug the AC-Mesh in to that. You don’t need to have a physical Ubiquiti controller but it can help. You do need though the Ubiquiti app or the software installed as a minimum to configure the device. I hope this helps

@@The_Tech_Geeks The problem is that we have the Starlink Ethernet adapter as well as the Ubiquiti POE and there is power to the mesh unit BUT, I cannot download the controller as it's asking for Java 11 even though I have the latest version installed from Oracle. It will not let me get through. My next thought was to buy the Dream router as you show in the video and then bypass the Starlink router and connect to the mesh units. Any thoughts!

You could try the app on your smart phone as another option. If not the UDR would be the best next step.
