Enjoyed your review of the kit. Just finished the Bentley blower 1:12 kit by airfix, some parts were very poor, but overall finish was acceptable when painted. This kit would probably shine when the red repainted.

Bought this some months back, its a very good kit. The price drives you to taking your time, the parts are fragile and need care which is all part of the build ie its not a 5 min Airfix 1:72 kit from the 70s. The satin chrome finish is excellent, as you say a shame the feeds are on the side but they can be resolved with the pen. Also note the box art includes the fact its a 110th anniversary edition which is nice and I'd be putting the decal on the car like its in the museum. The finish on the plastic will be good once its primed and painted properly. I did think it was a high cost initially but the more you have gone through this Paul, the better value it has become esp when compared with that Das Werk U boat I got at around 90 Euros and about 10 pieces

Nice Paul, it looks like it could be a great looking kit when built, will probably need a bit more work than a Tamiya kit but it has potential!

It’s definitely not the worst kit I’ve seen, some of it looks really good, you comment about revell chrome parts is so true. Intend to avoid any heavy chrome kits

The entire line of these showed up at our LHS a few months back but at $200+ each and with the spotty track record that Italeri has in terms of detail, fit, and finish I personally would be extremely hesitant to drop that much coin on one of their kits. A vehicle like this I would spend a little more and look to MFH if they were to produce an 8C

Mine looks beautiful. Took about a month cause I take my time. I've been scale modeling since the early 70's, so I wasn't worried, and I was pleasantly surprised. Just don't lose any screws, because they cant easily be replaced.

Looking forward to this build. I purchased this kit months ago but haven't started it yet. Having a hell of a time finding the correct paint to start it and want to research the car more.

The paint is Ferrari Rosso, Revell #34 "Italian red", enamel and acrylic. The model box then says use Tamiya TS39 Mica Red!

I've just started mine, the parts are very well made, the plastic is good enough quality saying that. The I instructions are vague: watch you don't glue the suspension and steering parts. On the chassis rails you have to drill a few holes, the one shown at the bottom right of section 1 is marked wrong on the insides, use the outer spo t, you'll see it right away
@1972Ray
@1972Ray 2 жыл бұрын
@@scorpio9578 Also, scorpio, they have you mount two hose fittings on top the rear body. You'll have to drill two little holes for the hoses on top of the frame for the hoses to drop into. I used one side for the hose, and on the other used some of the copper wire in the same fashion. Loop it around the tip of the hose connector, and clean it up. It looks closer to the real thing IMO. In my kit, the instructions were wrong concerning the little screws' sizes for placement. I realize your kit is already done, but maybe someone else will benefit.

Paul thank you for reviewing this kit. I was very curious what this kit would look like but feared paying 250.00 to find out. I built the old Fiat version a few years ago and what a nightmare. The plastic was awful. My excitement was soon squashed on the very first sprue you reviewed, its exactly the same plastic. I don't know why they do this. Such a wonderful car represented so poorly. My only hope is to save my money for a 1/8 Pocher . Thanks again for the review Paul. Love your show.
@jiml9692
@jiml9692 2 жыл бұрын
Don't bother buying a pocher kit. I have the 500k Mercedes Benz and the fitting is poor on the body panels... the plastic is way too thick. You can buy the Alfa Romeo under 200.00 from e-bay
@1972Ray

Done right, this kit is stunning. The cheap plastic is irrelevant once it's all primed and painted.

Hello I just started doing 1/32 cars after doing a few 28mm figures I was wondering if it's ok to prime the cars in grey then use acrylic ink as my paint instead of using normal arcylic paint used for model gaming

Pity about that Paul. I have now built it...it was a challenge with the delicate components as you mentioned in your prebuilt review and under sizes nuts and bolts were a struggle and difficult to find some of the locations for the rear fuel pipes.. However an enjoyable build overall.

Using modelling skills to make it fit - this is the part of modelling that I don't get. Why shouldn't kits be made so that one starts out with parts that fit and parts that arrive unbroken and clear parts that are actually clear? After all if Tamiya can do it - why not the others?

I think it’s because old timers that’s been in the hobby for decades or generations accept what we get today compared to what they got back in the day. There’s just some companies that will have there issues no matter old tooling or new. MPC is one example there just utter trash that I’ll never buy again. I think tamiya probably services there molds like LEGO does and good engineering.

Companies like Tamiya Don't make "different" kits. Want a kit of the ironclad Monitor? The Wright Bros. Flyer? a WW2 motorcycle? This kit? That means buying kits from companies that Are not Tamiya. I have lot's of Tamiya kits..They're great. But they don't make kit's like this Alpha.
