E' semplicemente bellissima.

This Alfa Romeo is an iconic car . It absolutely dominated the era in which it raced. Tazio Nuvolari and these Alfas are indelibly written into the history of motor racing. The Mercedes Benz and Auto Union Silver Arrows with generous Nazi support eventually put an end to this era of Alfa domination as did the war. However the Alfettas, aka 159s, were extreme developments of this car after the war and they won the first and second Formula 1 WD titles in 1950 and 1951 with Farina and Fangio. Thank you for sharing, from South Africa.

One of my favorite Alfas. It's nice to see this one taken care of and driven. All cars in collections or singly need to be at least driven to a well warmed state occasionally of they'll never be able to be driven at all. Gotta get that exercise, kudos.

Thank you. It's our pleasure to show you them. We hope to bring you more videos like this soon. It's our first effort but we think it's important to share some of their finer points.

The engine sounds strong but the transmission is so agricultural. At that time, the Alfas and Maseratis were the leading sports cars. This would quickly change, at least in Grand Prix racing, the remainder of the thirties.

Would be amazing to be able to hear the car run with attendant beautiful noises, except that without a wind sock on the microphone, all we can really hear is... wind 😞

Hi Steve. We have been working on this problem and think we have found a suitable solution. If you listen to our most recent videos, I think you will notice the difference.

Why doesn’t he warm the oil before setting off? Surely a terrible idea for an 8c?

Definitely time for an overhaul. (A complete engine) plus all of the rest overhaul-rebuild. Plus a complete body strip & repaint. A nice car but needs lots of TLC.

We conserve fuel since our procedure is to drain the tank when the car is put away. We want to preserve our cars as much as possible and long-term gasoline storage can damage a car.

So disappointing seeing the car run around a car park - like watching a tiger pacing about in a cage.....

Almost precisely the same imagery i came up with- i was reminded of one of those world wildlife fund adverts where you see a bear in a cage rocking from side to side, bordering on insanity! Nevertheless the originality of that car is impressive. I can't help wondering if the fishplates between the headlamps and wings (fenders) are original, or a later effort to reduce headlamps shudder or compensate for corrosion around the fixings. With a little attention to the clutch and the contact breaker/s that car would just run all day. Fantastic! Better to be run in circles than not at all, but the animal rights activist in me wants to rescue it...

You can't compare a 90 years old vintage Alfa with zoo animal, this car is under preservation regime so any stress or fatigue on its structure should be avoided.
@thephilpott2194
@thephilpott2194 9 ай бұрын
The best way to preserve is to gently warm it up then thump it up to 3,000rpm or more for 10 miles on the road. Then there'll be a few oil leaks, funny noises and glitches to sort out, and any nasties can be caught in time in the interests of keeping it healthy. When preservation leans over obsessive originality horrible things can happen. They don't look very sexy with a rod sticking out of the side of the block. @@boson2916
