Love Neil's videos, I understand he has to make a living but is more interested in keeping these cars on the road. There's never once been the obligatory mechanics sharp intake of air through gritted teeth when assessing a car and actually looks forward to tackling the job! Proper enthusiast. Keep it up dude!

By the way, it still surprises me how much love the 155 gets in the UK. Gabriele Tarquini really left a lasting impression there, it seems! :) Here in Italy the 155 wasn’t much loved in period, but now I’m seeing good ones changing hands for not-inconsiderable money...

Unfortunately Matteo, not all UK car "restorers" respect the 155. If you want to see Visigoth-like vandalism watch the episode of Flipping Bangers on UK TV, where they "rescue" a 155, get half way through the welding then (for dramatic reasons I presume) decide the chassis is too far gone, and choose to crush the car instead of stripping down and saving everything else on the car (including the original alloy wheels they had just restored). Almost every exterior panel on the car looked straight, the interior was immaculate, the engine and trans were tip-top, and what a treasure trove it would have been for all the little bits and pieces that are so hard to find. IN parts it would have been worth thousands. I have vowed never to watch their program again.

Hi Neil, I m Italian and I love your channel... I have an alfa gt and I love it... Sad truth is that Fiat sold some years ago magneti marelli... This company made all the mechanical piece for alfas so as we can imagine new alfas will be completely Peugeot so the quality will became very low. The last Italian alfa the Giulia is not bad but the design is a joke... Basically they copied the BMW m3 with the esterior and the internal cockpit I think it s a very bad design... So those two series will be very valuable. Here in Italy police is still using a lot of 155 so you can imagine they re pretty good in quality... What people doesn t understand is that alfas were very good cars sold to ridiculous prices because Fiat could ask and obtain a lot of money as state aid from Italian government... So they managed to produce cars and sell at low prices because even if they had big losses doing so Italian government will close the holes in the company balance... This is a fact... When Europe said no more state aid company decided to move and in a few years we had a lot of Italian factories closed and now we sold all the company to the French people... Seems like we cannot fight to have our factories against German and French interest

love the 155 - my dad has had more then a dozen over the years but sold his about a year ago - really clean car with all sorts of ultra-ultra rare bits and a 20VT engine conversion, it gave me my love for cars. apart from financial reasons he sold his because the community is almost non-existent, hes been involved since the mid 2000s but theres so few cars in the UK now that there is no community, all the 155s left are in mainland europe and japan mainly. strange to see the prices so high now when for most of the time i've known the car theyve sold for pennies - my dad bought that one i mentioned in 2012 for 450 quid and although its boot floor had disintergrated and the bodywork wasnt brilliant it was mechanically immaculate

I'm a huge Alfa fan and worked on them for many years back in the 70/80s but sadly rust continues to be the big issue. The plastic type 'underseal' makes matters worse when it starts to flake then traps moisture to give rust a head start.

I really regret not snapping up a 1.8 Twin Spark that was advertised for a little over £1k; that would have been a great project. Hi Niel - good video. I'll have a headlamp if you need one, and maybe a clock. I see the offside mirror has been replaced with a manual pne, so I bet the internal cover you have is for the original electric one ;) Headlamp washers are rarer than good mirrors, and virtually impossible to remove from a 25 year old bumper without breaking them, so some creative 3D printing might be needed for cosmetic purposes. Good review, but as a 155 fan you should know that the spoiler you describe and are looking for is NOT the Silverstone spoiler. The one you are after is a widebody sport pack spoiler. The Silverstone was a narrow body series 1 car and had a higher wing that came with the extension struts in the boot. The whole purpose of the model was to homologate the spoiler for the BTCC.

There's under 90 in the UK that are road taxed as of 2020 so they're already rare and likely pricey... I haven't seen one on the road for about 15+ years, maybe 20. I'd be inclined to use it as a special occasion car or more in the Summer so it lasts longer. My 156 sleeps in the garage and I try not to get it get wet these days, yes it's been welded many times in the past. I like how there's so many seemingly similar parts on the 155 and 156, even those stupid front engine strut things. As they're rusted to hell in my car but seem to serve no real purpose, so I've just rubbed them down and painted them in anti rust.

I've always wondered when you weld the tunnels to the sides of the car, how do you protect the insides of the welds? Do you use a extended nozzle on a hole and run it through the tunnel? Edit: My dad had one of these for a while, and those cloth seats were some of the most comfortable I've sat in. Unfortunately I only got to drive it once while learning to drive. That one is neat.

Interesting.. My 2.0 Tempra didnt have an oil cooler, obviously the 8v Fiat twin came, but still.. I`ve always wanted to drive one of these to compare it to the Tempra, Tipo`s, 164`s & other similarly aged Italian cars I`ve owned &/or driven. In theory it should be like a cross between the Tempra & the 164.

Very cool mate I know a guy that has two Alfa 155 I believe they are both 1.8 cars they have been off the road for a good few years he said he would sell both off them for around eight hundred quid maybe I could make one good car from both would it be a good idea or not ? And interestingly the guy that owns the cars worked on top gear live for a good few years setting up Stunts

unrelated but what do you think my issue is on my 1.6 105hp ts 147 - smokey exaust like its running rich or something. Replaced the fuel injectors (After old ones leaked horribly after a clean), so is it the lambda sensors?

Hello Neil, unrelated to the 155 I take this opportunity to ask: when do I change the cambelt on my 145 1.7L here in New Zealand? It was changed with tensioners and water pump at 67,113ks. I have now travelled 120,724ks. The expert says?

The spoiler you want is not from a Silverstone. Here’s the story of the 155 Silverstone, in case you’re interested! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJe9eWqtYt2Nbqc
