You’re mom is an amazing chef and you grew up eating incredible food yet you never stick your nose up to other countries food but you are still honest with your opinion on it. Watching you and your sister together warmed my heart. I wanted to cry when I saw your sister cry when leaving. My younger sister is my other half and knows me like no other. Thanks for sharing your beautiful, rich life. You are blessed to have such a loving warm family. Also wanted to say it’s so brave of you to share about your anxiety issues, which just amazes me because your channel is so warm and you share so much I would never have guessed. I too have social anxiety and it took me many years to overcome…like 45 years, 😮. Much love to you and your family.

Can you believe I've yet to visit the statue of liberty in all my 30 yrs?? It was closed for most of my childhood bec of 911 and when it reopened, every summer i said that's the summer im gonna go! I have plans to visit mont tremblant for the weekend in a few weeks i cant wait! Same. I live very close in NJ and there are so many places in NYC that we have not been to. Mainly in part because both me and my husband commute and it makes us grumpy and cynical about the city. We just want to get in the city and then as soon as we can get out. Sometimes I forget how beautiful it is but when you commute you see the worst of the city.

I would love to see a video of you going into Little Italy and reacting to Italian-American culture and food. As an Irish woman I find something about Irish-Americans very odd (with how much they love and identify with their Irish heritage which I think is great! but they seem more American to me than anything. Not criticising I just find it really hard to consider them Irish) and I wonder if it's the same for Italians.
@giovanni-cx5fb Жыл бұрын
It absolutely is the same for Italians lol
@Nicole-mr8po Жыл бұрын
of course it's the same for Italian-americans. We are definitely more American.
@batacumba Жыл бұрын
It’s always weird to me how many people seem to forget how America differs from other countries in that it doesn’t have a long and rich history and most of its inhabitants’ ancestors hail from elsewhere. There’s nothing wrong with Americans celebrating their heritage. It’s still ours and doesn’t go away because our ancestors went to another country from their original one. Not to mention many of us have parents and grandparents/ great grandparents who came from elsewhere and grew up around the culture in that way. My friend’s grandmother is from Ireland and didn’t even speak English until she moved here. Is it weird for my friend to celebrate her heritage when she’s got an Irish grandma speaking Irish to her? Let us have our fun and don’t gatekeep. Obviously the people who identify with their Irish roots know they are different than people who grew up in Ireland and don’t consider themselves one in the same. Of course there’s always gonna be obnoxious people on St Patrick’s day talking about their 5% Irish heritage but that doesn’t comprise the majority of Irish Americans. I guess be grateful you have your culture going back thousands of years.
@userzquid Жыл бұрын
It's the same for every American though in my experience. They identify with their ancestry but are very far removed from the culture. Nothing wrong with it, but people who were born in the country (not USA) view them as American, and that's a tough pill to swallow if your identity has always been somewhere-american. And before anyone tries to come for me, this is coming from someone who has both an American and Irish background, spending great amounts of time in both places
@batacumba Жыл бұрын
@@userzquid actually I will come for you because it seems like you’re being really unfair and inaccurate with your criticisms. Just how involved culturally would you like us to be in a culture that came from relatives who aren’t even alive anymore? I’m half English but my descendants are pilgrims so excuse me for not being very in touch with English culture. I will still claim my English ancestry though, sorry. But you won’t see me being annoying about it and most Americans aren’t. 😂 Obviously people who are first or second generation have a different experience because they have living relatives from that culture which is why your comment is so absurd to me. As an example I’m first generation Asian American and I myself am pretty far removed from Asian culture because I didn’t grow up around that side much but I have many Asian American friends who are fluent in the language and participate in many cultural traditions and know how to cook the food, etc. To say that ‘every American’ seems far removed from their culture tells me you really didn’t spend much time here or you only spent time with white people lol. Weird how you forgot about this huge group of people, many of them not white, who are very much involved in our respective cultures. You must not hang in very diverse circles for you to completely gloss over our experiences.
