Finland's first pizzeria was founded in Hamina city in the year 1961 by an Italian ship cook Giovanni ”Nino” Tedeschi. His restaurant was very popular and there it took off. Here's a scene from the Mika Kaurismäki's 1985 movie Rosso: "Rosso - Olen suomalainen". The Finnish version of the song was released in 1983 and it's a Finnish classic. "Sono un finlandese" sang by Kari Tapio here: "Kari Tapio - Olen Suomalainen". Rosso is also an Italian style restaurant chain in Finland, at least that's what they claim: "Rosso 40 vuotta aikajana". That "Italian" in that movie Rosso is a Finnish actor Kari Väätänen. I don't know how authentic he sounded. Here's a music quiz by a popular comedy group Kummeli: "Musavisa - Gruppo Sicilia - Italia". Maybe they did a better job at passing as Italians.

Second oldest was in city of Lappeenranta, founded by Italian Adriano Vinciguerra in 1964, who happened to be friends with my family. My dad made the window graphics for it. And I was taken to pizzeria from very early age in a time when pizza was not common yet in Finland. My mom started baking pizza in early 70's at home too. Me as a fan of Italy, studied Italian and listened only Italian pop in my early teens. And to this day I never been to Italia yet 😢

We dont have 6 months of dark and six months of light anywhere. It is only at north and south poles that do that. But in the northest part of finland, utsjoki, there is 2.5 months of no sunset in the summer and two months of no sunrise in the winter. And even when it comes up, it stays there only a while at first and vice versa. The same phenomenon is of course happening in the southern finland too, but less. for example in the city of Tampere, where I live, allbeit the sun does go belowe the horizon, but it only goes so little that there is no official darkness in for about a month in the summer. And again, of course vice versa.

im living 130km from Artic Circle, we have light about, totally light (Sun wont get down) about 1,8 months. And Darkness (Sun wont rise) about 3 weeks. But the light and darkness is, when you are sleeping, you wont notice that thing, you can think that sun wont rise or sun won sunset.

Finnish is written and spoken exactly the same way. Most languages are not. Fun fact, a Finnish person can basically read Japanese perfectly if the words are written in western letters.

@@mauronicolo89 hey btw. have u reacted to finnish patriotic songs? for example säkkijärven polkka (säkkijärvi polka) is interesting because finnish army at some point noticed that when they play that music, russian radio-launched mines/bombs detonated, so they used that song to clear enemy mines and stuff :D i think it was not very common or so but still cool way to detonate enemy bombs lol! that one is not actual patriotic song but more like folk song hehe

Hey, youtuber "Irish in Finland" covers quite a lot of finnish mythology in his videos if you are interested. Kalevala is very important, but it is mainly created by Lönnrot, based of course to the old poems and spells, which we have over 10k recorder in last two, three hundred of years. It is the biggest saved folk lore database in the world. They can be found online. The poems contradict each other and are about everything under the sky. Very interesting and endless possibilities for studying. Impossible to translate mostly though very accurately since it is old finnish and words are bended however (:

We Finnish have time to sleep at winter, so at the summer you just take long nap every now and then and spend most of the time enjoying life (and warmth). So the sun shining all day long doesn't matter :) ...Dark season is called "kaamos" in Finnish, and both kaamos and nightless night ("yötön yö" in Finnish) are complete in North (Lapland including the Scandinavian part and of course Northern Russia)

The Swedish salmiakki chocolate ball Salmiakbomben was the best sweet at this year's Salmiakki picnic, according to the jury. The handmade ball received a grade of 9+ on the traditional school grade scale (4-10). Chocolate praline rolled in salmiakki powder hides soft toffee inside. Salmiakbomben is currently manufactured in Stockholm by the Lakrits Sverige company. The product was created by Lena Johansson of the Ett Chokladeri company twenty years ago.
