The player, Eddie Betts, that you thought might be Brazilian, is an Indigenous Australian (An Aboriginal) He retired a couple of years ago, yet his highlights would well be worth reacting to.

Eddie Betts was fantastic! One of the smaller players, but so skilled!

There's a number of Irish players in the AFL due to it being similar to Gaelic Football (played with a round ball) which is Ireland's biggest sport. Gaelic Football is amateur and Australia has better weather so Ireland has been a good place to get new players over the years. There's an American also playing at the moment who comes from a basketball background. AFL does events in other countries testing the basic skills of sportsmen who don't make the grade at certain sports to see if they could do it in the AFL. It's played outside of Australia but similar to American football etc in Europe it's not particularly competitive or at that good a level. Quite a few of the recent players were born abroad in places like Africa and moved to Australia as kids, as well as from nearby countries but mainly it's Australians, many of which are from diverse backgrounds anyway... plenty of first nation people, Irish heritage, Italian, Greek....all kinds.

Great reaction mate, glad you’re loving the sport! And yes you do have to kick it through the posts, no hands otherwise it’s a behind.

only reason afl is not as popular as football is because afl was made in a British colony un able to expand where as football was made in England where it could gain exposure. if afl was made in england it would be the most popular spot in the world

The ball must be kicked for it to be a goal. A kick is any contact below the knee. Also, there are no own goals. If the opposition kicks it through, then it is a minor score (1 point).

If ANY player touches the ball after it leaves the boot and before it crosses the boundary, it's not a goal. Even a fingertip touch is enough.
