I’m in Pakistan. My nephew and niece came from America for the holidays and wanted to try the difference between the McDonalds also. They decided to try the basic menu and not the ones created for the local palate. This meant the Big Mac, nuggets and fries. They were absolutely blown away with the difference in taste of all three. They said the flavour of everything tasted like it should - the nuggets tasted of chicken, the hamburger of meat and the fries of potato. So much so that they went back several times to eat although both had given up McDonalds after leaving college. I couldn’t quite twig it but later on came to the conclusion that in this case it was good to be in a Third World country where we can’t afford it do not have the food technology to saturate our foods in preservatives, everything has to be either fresh or at most able to be refrigerated for a day or so. Also the farming process doesn’t involve the high use of chemical fertilisers and insecticides - all too expensive. Does this seem like a reasonable hypothesis to you and Eva? By the way I have totally fallen in love with your content. You have a very unique and interesting spin on food programming, of which there are literally millions. Brava!

Austria has multiple wrap options I think the main difference is that a lot of mc Donald’s in Europe use local quality ingredients - when I used to like in Austria they always advertised their high quality beef. It's just amazing how the Big Mac is served around the world and to know that is was first introduced in 1967 in my hometown of Uniontown, PA by franchise owner, Jim Delligatti. We used to walk to that McDonald's from my house which was only 0.5 mi. I worked at McDonald's when I was in college in the mid 80s, but I'm sad to say I no longer eat at McDonald's. My opinion is the quality, preparation, & way they hold the food is no longer what it used to be. The burgers were so much better because they were fresh off the grill and the wrapped sandwiches didn't stay long under the warmer until they were purchased. If I get hungry for a Big Mac, I make my own at home and although it may not be exactly the same taste, it's pretty darn close.

The Asian ones have some crazy combos. Weird jelly stuff and matcha shakes and some really spicy weird tasting pork sandwiches. Everywhere the coffee is pretty good and ice cream and french fries are usually the same. The meat here in Budapest tastes much fresher than in America so I sometimes get a cheeseburger for myself and one for my dog to share at the park. We also had a "off menu" item called a Cheese Delite that was similar to the McToast but without ham. You took the hamburger bun and flipped it around so the cut side was facing out, put two pieces of cheese in the middle, and then toasted it on the bun grill (a hot metal platen that would toast the cut sides of the buns). I used to make them for myself and sneak in a slice of tomato.

In Mexico there are 3 items in McDonald's not found in the US: 1. McMuffin a la Mexicana. Basically a McMuffin, but the egg is mixed with tomato, onions and green chili pepper. It also has refried beans. 2. McMolletes. A Mollete is a dinner roll cut in half, with beans, cheese, and pico de gallo, which is tomato, onions and green chili pepper. McDonald's in Mexico does it using the buns from the McMuffin. 3. Pockets of green chili sauce. They offer them right next to the ketchup packets. And people put the sauce in their big macs. By the way; Mexico is a big pasta consumer. But its more traditional way of pasta consumption is in soups. HOWEVER, pasta soups are mainly home-made meals. Some restaurants offer Sopa de Fideo, which is a thin noodle cut in small pieces. But there are different varieties of pastas for soup in Mexico. The typical way to make it is with a tomato-based broth (tomato, onions and maybe cilantro), maybe some diced carrots and, depending on your taste, Knorr chicken seasoning. Pasta soups in Mexico are also known as Sopa Aguada (watery soup). Some people like to bake the pasta a little in the pan so it gets a brownish color (it changes the flavor of the pasta) and some people like it without baking the pasta first. Trust me, it is delicious either way.

@@marcogadani2605 My husband started a tradition years ago. Whenever a tourist asks us "do you know where I could find a McDonald?" he replies: "I do, but I'm not gonna tell you" -- and goes on to suggest some nice local place instead

Of all the foods in the world the McRib is definitely in the top 20! You’re so lucky, Eva. Italy eat your heart out!

Pre-covid I watched several channels that traveled to a lot of different countries and always compared our fast food restaurants here vs there. McDonald's always made the list. While they commented sometimes that a menu item or condiment found in both tasted a little different, the biggest difference was menu and condiment options. S And some seemed to offer far more native food than traditional MCD fare. Fascinating stuff. Thank you so much for this and all your fun videos. Love you two.

Awesome video guys!! So hilarious--general consensus is McDonald’s SUCKS 🤮 no matter what country you’re in. Although, like Harper, I do like the McRib Sandwich. Thank you for continually coming up with new, original content every week. You don’t know how much I look forward to hanging out with you two! Love from Detroit, Michigan. 🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘

I don't actually hate McDonald's. Their coffee is super good and very affordable and nuggets are a nice snack to enjoy once in a while. It's not a place I'd regularly go to but certain menu options are not bad.

I have been to Mcdonalds in Milan, and I must agree that the Mctoast is a winner. I loved the bacon double cheeseburger, but my favorite is the french fries. In Italy they still fry them in beef fat. They switched in the US to something else “ healthier”, LOL, The Italian fries instantly brought me back to my childhood. The U S fries taste like little wooden sticks! Also a big plus fro Italy was you can get your Big Mac with a MCBIRRO!!! After 2 weeks of the local fare, which is wonderful, I really had a taste of America, and Mcdonalds fit the bill! Love the channel!

I think they switched off the beef fat because vegetarians complained about it, actually
@dorothyyoung82313 жыл бұрын
@@DeltaAssaultGaming the change was made in 1990, long before vegetarianism became as popular as it is today. The change was made under pressure from those who thought the cholesterol in beef tallow is a health hazard. Ironically, McDonalds mogul Ray Kroc was more interested in the fries than in the hamburgers when he acquired McDonalds.

I’m shocked. Every time I’ve had McDonalds outside the US, it has been better than in the US. And the reason there is no McRib in Italy is because Italy has standards, I mean that both in a snobby way and probably in a legal way, depending on what is actually in that “meat”. Great video, as usual.
@Dieterzimmerer1233 жыл бұрын
Harper, you got a good woman that knows what tastes good, and even better knows how to cook very delicious food. Your McRib has nothing to do with ribs, but is a pressed mass of different things you really don't want to know what they are.

Having recently been on a trip to italy, I can say in my opinion italian mcdonalds is superior to UK mcdonalds. Went 3 or 4 timez during the trip and it was always fresher and nicer, and the crispy mcbacon was the best burger from italian mcdonalds you missed out not trying that one

McNuggets, fries and Big Mac are the same in Japan. Every country has some unique items. Japan: Teriyaki burger Philippines: Fried chicken and spaghetti Italy: McToast
@jessicafuentesbinney3 жыл бұрын
Every country has their own version of McDonald's. Each country having a specialized menu with popular flavors\foods for that country. Hawaiian mcds has rice spam pasta salad corn. Japan has bagged fried chicken breasts with seasoning packets to shake, teriyaki sandwich, vegetable juice. They all have very similar versions of most classic McDonald's but most countries outside US all people slightly smaller

I remember when I was in Germany and tried eating at a McDonald’s over there. More or less the food tasted about the same, but the person I was there with said it didn’t make her feel as nauseous as McDonald’s us did . I’m not sure but I’m certain it’s because Germany has better regulations than the USDA, apart from that they did have some options that you can’t get in the US. Like the bigger Big Mac. Basically it was a quarter pounder but with the special sauce. They also had what they called American fries which were basically seasoned french fries. Similar to what you get at Arby’s but without the curl.

In Spain we often have some hamburgers with regionsl ingredients, such as Manchego cheese, chorizo... Usually as temporal/rotation products. Also we have Serrano ham croquettes, "bravioli" style fries (with Spanish hot sauce and aioli) and both Spanish omelette muffin and tomato&oil toast for McBreakfast. Other than that, the main change is they 100% guarantee the meat is from Spanish cows, but I suppose it's the same for every country
@rini63 жыл бұрын
To me, the menu options make a huge difference. You could have an entirely new McDonald’s experience by ordering the olives and the mctoast rather than fries and a Big Mac. Having said that, in the US the only thing they make right are the fries. Damn. Now I’m craving them.
@jonathanoneill80112 жыл бұрын
“The McRib is back! The McRib is back!” [next frame] “I’d like one McRib, please” 🤣 Great video, as always! And I agree, the difference lay more in the menu offerings. The only time I ever ate at an Italian McDonald’s was at the train station in Bologna, where they had a McFocaccino (a sandwich consisting of arugula, parmigiano and mortadella between two focaccia pieces), it wasn’t half bad! I’m not sure whether other McDonald’s in other Italian regions have their own regional specialties, but that was pretty interesting!
