I LOVE YOU GUYS Beautiful story - everything happens for a reason!!! Im also of Friulan descent.. My dad was born SW of Udine in Santa Caterina in 1930. He came over to Canada in 1954 and learned English using an Italian/ English translated dictionary. He sent for my Nonna to come over in 1957. He met my mom in Toronto at a dance and they married in 1960! My dad and Nonna always spoke Friulan at home, all their friends were friulan too! I miss those good old days when we would go visiting... I remb. my Nonna making Rabbit & Polenta, Minestroni soup (Minestra), Spinach & rizzo soup, boiled Cotechino sausage, Risotto al la fungi or milanese, etc... Friulan salami & cheese is the best! I'd love to learn more of the Friulan language...❤ My Nonna was from Basaldella and Nonno was from Paisan di Prato. Eventually my dad and Nonna moved to Udine (a few streets from the Moretti Beer factory) before they moved here to Canada... My dad was also a very good soccer player and followed the Serie A Udinese football team❤❤❤. Both my dad and Nonna are gone now and I miss them very much... I never met my Nonno. True Friulano cuisine is different and very distinct - my dad preferred Polenta over pasta, we didn't eat pasta often... My mother was of full Hungarian descent... Great combo! Alessio, I'd love to hear more Alpini military stories and keep teaching Jessi the Friuli language ❤❤❤

My dears: take this from somebody with life experience. You can always teach your child your language....just speak. The child can answer in the other language, it doesn't matter. They will learn. I say this because you still plan to have a child, right? Well, you shouldn't ever speak English only, or Italien only. Each one speaks in their language, reads in their language. Don't forget! What a wonderful story! My mother was Italian, my father Irish. They met on a hayride when my mom stood up to move she fell on my dad's lap! When she went home that day (she was only 14) she told my grandma that she had met the man she was going to marry someday. Five years later she did. Wow. I stumbled upon your food reviews a month ago, watched a ton of them and now had to watch this one after a bummer of a Friday. You are both so endearing, that really is the best word I can use. Your video put me in a better mood. Anyway I’ve also done background work (it used to be called “extra work,” haha) here in the NY area for many years but I’ve primarily been a stand-in on film and TV projects. Last week I just finished work on Season 4 of the series Succession as Brian Cox’ stand-in. So of course I loved how you met doing stand-in work on a series! I have been learning Italian on Duolingo for a little over two years, with no intention of travelling. My hearing is bad so I cannot speak it, but reading and writing is coming along.
