There's no guarantee that CDK would perform like this if he stayed in Milan. That's how football works sometimes. You flop there, you thrive somewhere else. Henry flopped in Juventus, thrived in Arsenal and Barcelona. Bergkamp flopped in Inter, thrived in Arsenal. Pirlo flopped in Inter, thrived in Milan and Juventus. Pogba flopped in Man United, thrived in Juventus (first stint). Salah flopped in Chelsea, thrived in Fiorentina, Roma and Liverpool. De Bruyne flopped in Chelsea, thrived in Wolfsburg and Man City.

It's pretty interesting to see that some of the greatest players in Arsenal history were the Serie A flops or surpluses: Bergkamp, Vieira, Kanu, Henry, Lehman - even Ashley Cole flopped in Serie A. It's similar with Chelsea: Gullit, Vialli, Zola, Deschamps, Desailly, Casiraghi, Di Matteo, Stanic... You can do a lot with someone else's flops. You just need to choose the right ones, which is not case with Emerson Royal, Jovic, Origi, Bakayoko, RLC and many others in recent history of ACM.

As Inter fan, Milan need sporting director that understand football like Marotta. And sack Zlatan, he talks too much that it becomes distractions. I can't blame Fonseca, he has to work with squads that liability in the defence. They have squads that good enough to compete at champions league spots, but not for Scudetto.

@@TheFergo911 booooo, keep parroting the same narrative. Maldini presented a plan for the next steps after winning the league, the ownership denied it with maximizing profit in mind. Stop limiting yourself, a couple of transfers don't define a management, not every SD get's 100% hit rate on transfers. This management is failing sitting in 8th, bringing in the likes of Royal for that crazy amount, don't act like it's because of what Maldini brought, in fact we won a scudetto with what Maldini brought. Atalanta is perfect club for players to learn the league and develop. He fits well there. We are talking 3 seasons ago and the shirt is far too heavy for some players. It was always going to be a process but I wouldn’t want him back. You can’t look back and no regrets.
@mohamadkawtharani52807 күн бұрын
CDK at Milan was intentionally used by Pioli as a substitute almost all the time. You can't do that to a young player who was bought for a high amount and expect him to play well. Out of 40 games, CDK only played 9 times as a starter. To put it into perspective his total game time was 1,101 minutes while during his first season for Atalanta he played 51 games and was a starter in 36 and his total game time was 2940 minutes. This is how you build the confidence of a young player.
@palmscape16627 күн бұрын
problem is milan doesnt have time to develop a young player in the position that cdk was playing, they can develop maybe a midlefielder or defender, but we needed cdk to be very good because he was the only investment and we didnt have a “fantasista”. Starting 9 games is enough when you look at players that made impact right away like theo/leao.

True but they also didn’t help him build his personality at his time in there. He had a lot of chances at Milan still, but not enough for the amount of pressure they’ve put on him. The only one who trusted him was Maldini, but if he stayed I wonder if he would have change into what he’s became now. Atalanta is perfect environment for anyone. New guy who needs to explode and make experience, or experienced guy who didn’t have much luck in their career as Kolasinac to throw an example. I’m glad CDK is getting more consistent but his character still has to come up I believe he hasn’t shown not even 10% of what could become

@mohamadkawtharani52807 күн бұрын
@Smirza3 There is a difference between owner debt and the club debt. Cardinale owes 550 million to Elliot. This is not AC Milan Debt, which means if Cardinale can not pay Elliot, then Milan ownership will go back to Elliot. AC Milan actual debt is 50 million Euros, which is the lowest amongst Serie A teams and in Europe. And btw this is the work of Elliot and the previous management, nothing that Cardinale and the current management can brag about. While for Inter, there is a real problem, which is that the club debt is around 800 million Euros with 60 million a year interest. This debt is there no matter who the owner is, and if this is not addressed, it can lead to the club bankruptcy. Now Oaktree knows that, and their plan is to fix this situation so the club can have healthy finances so they can sell it and recuperate their investment and make a profit like what Elliot did with Milan. This will take a long time (4 to 5 years) but they have an advantage which is Marotta is an excellent CEO and they kept him (actually promoted him) and the team is doing great from sporting perspective so they can maximize revenues easily and all they need to do is manage operating costs.

On the CDK discussion i actually think if he had stayed at Milan, he wouldn't have become the player he is right now. Similar to the whole Brahim thing where they were happy to let Brahim go but he's been pivotal for Madrid off the bench. I think people tend to forget that coaches and environments play a big part in influencing how some of these players perform. Similar to how Everton and Fulham were happy to sell Ademola yet hes doing wonders at Atalanta under Gasperini and also did well at Leipzig. So fully agreed with Anto there is no regret for them coz it is what it is they would have never got the best out of him so it suited all parties to part ways. What's more frustrating is that Milan don't have a real transfer strategy and so when they bring players like that in they dont really have a vision or plan they kinda just throw stuff at the wall and wait for something to stick like with Reijnders.

Of course Milan regret selling CDK. He'll end up in a top 5 EPL club within two seasons, worth double the amount Milan originally paid. The issue at Milan is they have a fanbase with the same expectations as Madrid fans, but a management that doesn't have the foresight to understand how to develop a young talent. What Maldini, Massara, Boban, and Pioli built should be studied. Went from midtable to CL semi's and champions of Italy. Understood that Leao wasn't going to explode immediately, understood that Theo had to be trusted to express his talent, understood that Zlatan even at his age would be influential... This current management think that algorithm's can replace the experience Maldini brings to a football club (40+ yrs of experience, both as player and watching his father play and coach Milan/Italy). They're out of their depth. Players like CDK are a slap in the face to their shortsightedness.

lol at Antonio dissing Lukaku who "only scores against the tiny teams"... he scored against his Milan 🤣 (and also v Roma as well), he has 6 gls & 4 assists in 15 games which does not seem too bad to me PS/ regarding Roma, i think that everyone is totally forgetting the fact that they can still qualify for the CL by winning the EL. there are very few teams in that tournament that are realistically capable of beating them. (only ManU which is currently in complete disarray, Lazio which is a 50/50 game, & Athletic Bilbao who could play the final at their home ground are potential problems). i think this year we'll see Roma put right the robbery of Budapest from 2 years ago
@antonkurban95796 күн бұрын
Everyone gonna be shocked but Milan's defense (goals conceded) is better than Atalanta's, Lazio's is almost the same as Inter's and a few goals away from Juve, Fio, and Napoli - that's the facts. What we are missing is a more efficient striker, better than average RB (Jimenez actually is a RB), and better team form that's it.
@KnPerceval7 күн бұрын
I think Maldini brought CDK to Milan with the idea to also bring in a new coach. After the scudetto 2022, he wanted Milan to continue to succeed. He probably thought that Pioli wouldn't be the right coach for that. He wanted someone else. And I think he wanted Conte. The management disagreed with him and fired him soon after. In Conte's 3-4--2-1 formation CDK would've fit in perfectly like he does now at Atalanta.

@nickst76527 күн бұрын
so Roma is 12 points of 5th place with 19 games to go if they can get on a streak of 5,6 games they will legit probably be within 3,4 points of 5th place because in Serie A teams drop points every week... If Roma gets rid of good chunk of deadwood in January and brings in some decent players they can turn around this season... Celik has to go first then Zalewski, Cristante,... Maybe even sell Pellegrini if there is a decent offer for him because Pellegrini is not fitting any of the positions in Ranieris formation... He could play in left cam position where EL Sharawy plays but Pellegrini dosn't have skills, pace nor finishing to be playing there... Bring in Chiesa on loan, Beto and sign a right wing back and one more defensive midfielder and this team can make a massive turn around

CDK was a talented player, but he didn’t fit Pioli’s game plan-he needed a different type of player for his style. Honestly, Pioli should have gone instead of Maldini. Maldini understood the history, the fans, and what the club stands for. Cardinale and the US financial guys might know business, but they don’t understand Milan’s legacy or the expectations of the fans. Real Madrid balances business with Champions League success-why can’t Milan aim for the same? Right now, the leadership is failing, and the team is in a bad spot because of it.
