Thank you so much for listing the video parts in the description! There is nothing more frustrating than to get interested in a series and not be able to find the next one or the previous ones if you accidentally get started in the middle like I did... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Great series! ❤

I've already left a comment about your listing all the parts in the description but thank you again. Also, many channels don't even make playlists... so important if you want people to actually watch all of the parts. ❤

21:30 "Silently cursing the WAR that had done this to her and Klaus," no Siegfried, you silently cursed the British and Americans. You see, Siegfried emigrated to the US and it was there that he wrote his memoir. This was written postwar through the lens of revisionist history where the Germans generally, and he specifically never did anything wrong.

I have watched a lot of war documentaries. Always terrible destiny of those horses specially in Barbarossa where 600000 horses were deployed.First time I heard in this video that "Germans left the horses to Italian farmers to take care of them and taking them home after war!!".

As a captain attached to the first field force headquarters based in Nha Trang, I found this diary very interesting. It surprised me at how organized the German army was and how they were able to survive the war. Of course Vietnam was tame compared to WW II. But then it was a complex war with no front lines. We were attacked from any direction, at any time, and had to always be on guard. Most of the battles in late 68 -69 were small unit. This is because the previous Tet battles in February 1968 had severely weakened the forces in South Vietnam. I knew allot of what was happening because of my position in intelligence. I also read the diaries found on the battle fields. I was also a geologist and a trained terrain analyst in the corps of engineers. I began to realize that the enemy had the advantage. They knew the terrain, lived in it and also could pick their attacks to maximize US killed and few of them injured. The western part of Vietnam is a volcanic terrain. I had a masters degree from the university of Alaska and mapped volcanic terrain for my thesis. There are many hiding places in this recent volcanic plateau of South Vietnam. I understood what we were against here. when I left I was awarded the bronze star for my service of mapping these volcanic units but found it difficult to believe in our overcoming the enemy with their knowledge. I did brief the commanding general of our zone and shared my concern. I would still prefer the war in Vietnam over this war in Europe.

35:00 The tunnels he is talking about is the Soratte bunker complex. The link shows a pre 1943 photo showing the entrances with the mountain above where he was injured during the air raid. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gallerie_Monte_Soratte_ingressi.PNG

If Hitler hadn't invaded the Soviet Union how do you think the war would have gone? Anyone?

I think Germany would have eventually run out of fuel and other raw materials, unable to break the naval blockade like Napolean's France before them. Russia may have invaded them anyways because of this weakness.

Depending whether they find the oil in Libya and whether they go to war with the US. They could have also went into a stalemate cold war if the Germans also developed nukes. Another interesting scenario is the Soviets joining the Axis. 1940 November is the turning point for this.

If Hitler would’ve waited for further development such as what the US wanted Wernher Von Braun over here for, he never would have had to invade, it would’ve been over for the soviets. Wouldn’t have mattered how big the red army was going to get, when the opposing side can drop something from out of the sky and it leaves your imprint shadow on a side of a rock then it wouldn’t have mattered.
