Got to laugh at these German accounts, its like Goebbels had written the script. The truth is very few Germans actually tried to escape back to Germany after being captured. They were more than content to sit out the war, unlike their British contemporaries that became famous for escapes, even when they knew if caught they were shot!

Having nothing but respect for the Marines, Army and Navy personnel who fought in Okinawa, the title of this video does not seam to be appropriate for the content of the video. It had little to say about "Our Infantrymen Were Shocked By The Ferocious American Marines". The focus was mainly of the nearly unbearable combat that the Marines and Army troops had to endure.

Right at this point, Dec. 6 1941, the Germans should have turned around and went home. Mission failure.

As usual with countless videos, the computerized voice makes many outrageous errors. Why not just narrate vocally?

One of my HS friend, his father had been in WW2 as an artillery soldier. My friend said when captured by Brits? Or Americans? he was made to turn the guns against the Germans. 😮

Worked in Germany in the early 1970’s with several WWII vets and none talked about the war, but I knew one was taken POW in Stalingrad in 1942 and didn’t come home until 1952. History shows that of the 100,000 Germans captured in Stalingrad only 6,000 eventually came home. Most died of malnutrition and disease early in captivity because they were already starving when captured. The Russians did not intentionally starve prisoners like the Germans did.

From what I have read and watched, German POWs were much too valuable as forced labour to starve them. Depending on the work they were doing, mining coal or other essential stuff, they would get the same rations as Soviet labourers.

Thank you so much for listing the video parts in the description! There is nothing more frustrating than to get interested in a series and not be able to find the next one or the previous ones if you accidentally get started in the middle like I did... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Great series! ❤

My father was with New Zealand Army 8 Brigade Group in Fiji from April 1941 until August 1942, when the US Marines finally arrived. The Battle of Midway Turned on the Decision on an Aging USN Lt Commander Pilot with an Irish Name, Leading the Dauntless Dive Bombers to Turn and Search for the Jap Carriers, in Great Danger of Running out of Fuel. They Lucked In just after the Devastator Torpedo Planes drew the Zeros down and got Shot Up. The Jap planes were on deck Rearming from Bombs to Torpedos, with Fuel Lines out, and the Dauntless Dive Bombers got a Good Successful Run at The Carriers.

Lots of old time German people in America right from the earliest days. They in fact developed the Kentucky Long Rifle that Daniel Boone used and the Revolution sniper group Morgan's Riflemen. The special forces of the American Revolution. America never hated the German people after all so many of us are originally German. We hated Hitler and all he stood for. The German people were taken in by his propaganda and rhetoric. I personally knew a very smart and kind Luftwaffe pilot that was originally a bomber pilot and forced to fly fighters who came to the USA after the war.

The DO 217 and the Mitchell B25 BOTH have the overhang of the engine nacelle (there is a small back section which juts beyond the back of the wing). So, this basis of identification is really super dumb. The DO 217 has a thinner, longer rear fuselage, and smaller dual tail/rudder assembly. At a distance the two would be very hard to detect from one another. This discussion sounds sort of fake or artificially made up, like it is NOT from actual pilots with actual WW II warfare experience. One way I detect this stuff is to listen for technical details of the operation of the aircraft equipment themselves. Often there are idiosyncrasies of each aircraft, which would indicate the pilot actually did fly that aircraft.

This information is incorrect. They're naming the wrong general in the battle of the Seelow Heights. The person in charge was General Heinrici. He was the man who moved the line back so that the initial artillery landed in mostly empty trenches. This is a historical fact.
