Tou are forgetting something about KCD 1. You weren't gonna just learn to fight overnight, especially with your characters' parents refusing to teach you how to fight. How can you be even remotely good when someone doesn't teach you.

I hear your point and counter with, why were you a blacksmith's son who has 0 skill with maintenance. Why are you a common fixture at the tavern and your friends being accused of being drunk and yet you have 0 in drinking? Why are you known to get into fights and have 0 in unarmed? Why have you been seen to have been getting trained by the mercenary and have 0 to any weapon skill or defense?

@christopherscott8272 you obviously didn't play the game. Had you actually played it, you would have heard your dad defy an order to train you with the sword. Your dad refuses to teach you and your mom doesn't want you to learn either

@macman32579 you obviouslyhave no people skills, sir. My points are valid. How about you just say it is a video game. One made too hard from the jump. You trying to justify it by what your characters parents did or didn't do had absolutely no baering whatsoever on your character. If it did, then what your character actually did do would have buffs on it from the launch. This is proven in the game or perhaps you didn't play it. Because if you had of, you'd know, your character likes to drink, likes to fight, was getting lessons from a mercenary, is a blacksmith's son that works with his dad daily. Yet you have no fighting skills (unarmed, defense, or armed) and no drinking ability and no maintenance ability. You should have had some in each.
@macman32579

@christopherscott8272 Yes, you don't have real fighting skills because you were banned from them by your parents. Thats why your parents get mad at you when they find out the bandit guy was teaching you. The lesson he gives you in-game was your second lesson from him. You really can't learn much in 2 lessons. FYI, I've beat the game 5 times, including 3 on hard-core.

My question is "will it be good, or will it be great?" Because the first game (learning curve aside) was good, so good alone is only a lateral move. I'm pretty confident it's going to be great. I've broken my own policy to pre-order the Gold Edition. I haven't been this excited about a game since Baldur's Gate 3 was in Early Access.

@@italianspartacus I bounced off the first one, but I admitted at the time that it was a Me Issue, not a Game Issue; I just don't like games with steep learning curves. I don't have the time/patience for them, but more power to those who do. A video by NeonKnight changed my mind. He phrased it as "this isn't a game where you have to train a little to get good, it's a game where you have to train a lot to get competent," and I hadn't realized just how much of a skill-less lump Henry is at the beginning. (Considering Henry's introductory scene is his mom is rousting him for being lazy, I'm not sure how I missed it that first time.) Approaching everything as "What would YOU, someone with zero skills, do in this situation?" changed the game. And the progression of getting Henry competent, & eventually skillful, is the most satisfying levelling experience I've ever had in a game. Arthur Morgan, Commander Shepard, & Geralt of Rivia (and yes, I think Henry of Skalitz deserves to be in the conversation with those characters,) are all good at their jobs before you, the player, get your hands on them. You can guide their growth, but only Henry's progress is entirely your doing.

I don't get the complaints about the saving system. It's the same as KCD1. Just gather same herbs and make some saviour schnapps beforehand. I usually have about 20 or so on hand. If you get alchemy up to a certain level you can just auto create them as well at any alchemist or alchemy bench if you have enough of the right ingredients. Also beds or any of the random camps dotted around allow for saving. Or just abuse the save and exit system if you really have no other option

Combat just needs an hour of practice with Bernard to become decent. And your specific play style rewards you with XP in your play style lol. Don't take offense; I'm just clearly saying you're wrong because other people watching this video shouldn't be turned off of a game for an option that is poor due to your frustration and quitting early. You're missing the point of the difficulty in early KCD 1. I have 5 full playthroughs and I still suck in the early game. The game tricks you into thinking you're bad at the game early on, when it's secretly tied to your level. You're a peasant, you aren't supposed to be able to hold a sword. In KCD 2, you already have the training and experience, so the difficulty curve is much less, until you recover from your injury.

I think the term or phrase is...Immersion. This is an immersion game. There is no magic. You have to do a lot more than other RPGs. It tries to simulate real life and at the same time streamline it so it is not as boring. You can walk your dog but you do not have to pick up the dog poop.

The first game took me a few years to beat (which is true for me for most games, i go through phases) and it definitely took time to readjust to the game systems and combat, which meant my first stop was always the training yards, but the level of depth in how the towns and cities were built and thought through always drew me back in! I enjoyed being able to switch up play styles as I went along, where I could be heavily armored in the day and sneaking into camps for stealthy kills at night (until the update that game the Cumans dogs!) and I enjoyed the difficulty that came with both. I don’t think I ever felt shoehorned into playing a certain way, and I am interested in seeing how the mechanics have evolved since the first 7 years ago!

Fast Travel in KCD1 is often a bad idea, especially if you know there are enemies nearby, and especially in the early game when you're at a low level. It's not just a teleport, it's a full simulation of your character's movement through the map, with all NPCs also simulated. That means if you would have been caught by enemies while travelling on the roads manually, you will also get caught in Fast Travel. It's a penalty for relying too heavily on Fast Travel, as people tend to do in more casual games.

Progression systems in games are a tricky thing to balance. Usually, either your character knows what to do, and you as the player need to learn to do it well (ex.: Mortal Combat, even arpgs, you give a fireball to a sorceress and she'll know how to cast it, it's on you to make the build work and click st the right time/place) or your character doesn't know but you do (Ultima Online, where you have to train skills but no action is hard to realize). Mixing the systems is hard, because it can quickly be frustrating when the player can't practice/learn because the character is too slow. Seems like that was your issue with KCD. It's also the case in real life, since you are both character and player, except IRL we have ways to practice/learn. Games that try to imitate life need to provide those opportunities too. And if you indeed need to practice something else first (herb picking to learn fencing??) then that's a bad system. Now physical work to get in good shape before your fencing lessons, maybe, but fencing in itself should allow you to get in good shape too. Learning the techniques and physically improving at the same time is usually what happens.

My issue with the first one was it's pacing. The whole main narrative was so so slow. It didn't really pick up until the final 3rd of the game. The same is true for a majority of its side content. A lot of them overstayed their welcome. Go here, find Dietrich. Uh oh, Dietrich's third cousin is fucking a goat. Go stop him. Uh oh, Dietrich was kidnapped by bandits etc. A lot of the side stuff feels very longwinded like this. Aside from the obvious jank and slowness of the game it had a lot of good stuff for me. The music, sound design and general systems were fun once you got competent. Even the voice work for a double A game was great co,pared to others. Kcd 2 feels like a genuine sequel. Fixed the jank, improved every system from the first game and expanded on it from what I've seen.

Yeah it was pretty rough at the start, but it smoothed out and I'm hoping KCD 2 is much better from the get-go!

Even though Bannerlord felt incomplete, it nailed participating in large battles, which it seems this game unfortunately lacks.

@Direwolf9818

That’s because banner Lord‘s textures are way lower quality than what KCD, and KCD2 have. So it’s less taxing on the gaming machine it’s operating on.

It isn’t right to put Bannerlord and KCD in the same category. They are sharing the RPG element, and nothing else. It’s like expecting same level of KCD’s 1vs1 combat experience on Bannerlord.

KC is neat. The combat was aweful and lockpicking is terrible. I picked flower for 5 hours to get the base stst make alchemy and sell that for money/gear. Then got to combat with buffed str bonuses and immediatly died. They're neat but imma pass Also since the KCD 2 game devs did the whole "trust me bro" video I really don't trust anything about the game until after it releases. I'll be sticking to PoE 2 and MHWilds

Did you all the combat trainings to unlock the real combat? Because if you've missed it, the game would be very difficult.
@krakerjakmak96
@krakerjakmak96 14 күн бұрын
The trick to combat is there’s a train that teaches you how to actually block and counter. And I mean like unlocking the mechanic. Before that you can’t kill anything 😊

@Bronkowitsch yeah i found the knight guy in the training fence. Did a bunch of learn the starfish fighting style. Fought him till.i could win some anf got unarmed and sword up then got pwned by bandits. The weird chose a direction and hope method of combat and crappy lockpicking couldn't keep my interest. To much grinding and failing for immersion, so I wondered off and never got back around to it. Games neat, but couldn't get I to it, watched my bro play a bunch tho

You're not wrong but this game looks like it has made leaps on all of the things that held it back. Halo 2 and 3 are effectively the same game. Not broke, don't fix it. Kotor 1 & 2 are effectively the same games with better systems. Mass effect 2 & 3 are too. For a narrative RPG, i feel this is the move. Shit look at Call of Duty man, they've made an entire franchise out of annual "same game" releases hahaha
