Dorn was against having Chapters which is why he developed the Last Wall Protocol. The Last Wall Protocol basically says "hey, if something like the Heresy happens again, all Imperial Fist chapters will recombine into a Legion". Don't ask me why they didn't enact the Protocol during the War of the Beast, the invasion of Hive Fleet Leviathan, or the 13th Black Crusade because each of those really warranted it. The Dark Angels on the other hand say they don't act as a Legion and they technically don't, but all successor chapters of the Dark Angels follow the orders of the chapter master of the Dark Angels first and foremost. Any orders inside the successor chapter are superceded by the orders of the Grand Master of the Dark Angels. The Blood Angels also don't act as a Legion, but all successor chapters follow the lead of the Blood Angels. The Ultramarine successors act the same way with the Ultramarines. The Iron Fists and their successors are barely ever in the lore and the Salamanders and their successors only show up when someone wants them to look like heroes and other chapters to looks like douche bags. The Raven Guard get a mention now and again with their successors being as sneaky and independent as they are, but they show reverence to the Raven Guard.

Mallaeus is my absolute favorite.. The Ecclesiarchy really pisses me off.. Mallaeus is all about action and kicking ass. if you like Malleus, you'll like anything with the Grey Knights, so read the Grey Knights Omnibus by Ben Counter, I loved those more recently, aaron dembski-bowden (favorite BL author) wrote Emperor's Gift and that's fucking amazing. it's really wide sweeping and has plenty of space wolves and ordo mallaeus in it :) Sanguinius and Konrad Curze are my favorite primarchs, so you'll be sure to get two vids from them soon, but Fear to Tread is a great Sanguinius book in the Horus Heresy universe.. Reading the first four books of Horus Heresy also wouldn't be a bad idea. Vulkan's book are also really good!

Good point. By the way, fun fact: it is considered, that Kievan Russ was basically founded by Ascold and Dir, the vikings, and early Ukrainian Pagan mythology resembels the Viking mythology, thus we have Perun as the main god, allfather, warlord and a God of Thunder (resembling Odin\Thor) and some other creatures that are similar to ones in Nordic mythology such as werewolves(for example)

The expeditionary fleets were preceded by scouts, probably early rogue traders. This is one way the Emperor could of heard about Leman Russ, although personally I go with the whole Emperor's psychic awareness thing. Regarding the forgotten and the purged - I've read or heard (can't remember how or where) that some of the warriors of the lost legions were mindwiped and transferred to the Ultramarines and Word Bearers. This could explain why these two legions were significantly larger then all the other legions. Personally I like this explanation, but of course.....we'll never bloody know!
@AzraelSoulHunter6 жыл бұрын
To me Russ wasn't hypocritical about psykers at Nikea and he was more against the way that Magnus was using them. Russ and his legion are keeping their psyker powers in check and control the use of them, only using it when it's absolutely necessary, while Magnus and his legion were overly depended on them to the point that they were summoning daemons and were at risk of becoming corrupted. To me Russ just did not wanted to lose another brother. Actually if you look at his interactions with Angron, Lion and Magnus it's clear that if he just tried to play it better he could've teach them how to fix their flaws, Angron anger issue with teaching him how to control and using it at the right moment, with Lion not letting his pride take over his actions and Magnus to not overdosing his psyker powers. He basically had answers on these problems and he could maybe even save Magnus and Angron from becoming traitors. That's probably one of my favorite things about Russ and why he is one of my favorite primarchs (probably favorite one, but I still don't know). Despite his appearance, he is intelligent and knows how to control his emotions and powers to use them in the best way and not let himself be controlled by them. It also makes him probably one of the most intriguing and somehow tragic primarchs, even though he doesn't have depressing past like Angron, it feels like what happened to Magnus really left impact on him more than anything and if we take into consideration that he maybe had to kill 2 missing chapters, it may even hint that he feels like he failed another one of his siblings and as we saw for instance with him repeating Lorgar's poems or him trying to convince Horus to redeem himself he cares about his brothers.
@ryanbrewis69905 жыл бұрын
As much as I want to agree, Magnus was arrogant as fuck and back. He refused to accept or even entertain the idea he isn't the master of the Warp or that someone could know more than he. The Thousand Sons book shows this.

A video on the information that we have now of the Lost & the Purged 2nd & 11th Legions would be awesome. Hopefully we'll find out more as the stories continue!

Didn't russ mention in a book that he wasn't really sure that primarchs could be killed until magnus was slain by his hand? That implies he didn't have anything to do with the forgotten and the purged. Also; The Councel at Ikea.

The story of Russ meeting the Emperor is a near mirror copy of the myth of Thor meeting Utgard Loki in the Edda.

@@italianspartacus thank you brother. Tonight i am going to continue with Primarch videos. Of Angron. Seeing i got my own business etc. I do not get as much time for this amazing stuff any more. So i will put it on whilst cooking dinner in my house. But you have taught me a fair few new things i had no idea about. Thanks a bunch brother.

Just started following you and love your descriptions of the Primarchs. Bobby G....omg. Dying every time. If I remember correctly from the book Prospero Burns, Leman Russ does seem to have a tinge of regret and hoped that Magnus would have surrendered through the character Kasper Hawser.

reading one of the books, a horus heresy one i believe, pretty sure some on the planet have access to space, whilst most dont know about it. the lowly tribes are kept in their combat to create great warriors, whilst the wolves, travel around. There seems to be a HUGE tech differnce on fenris at that point. Perhaps its the same when Russ controlled it.
@italianspartacus6 жыл бұрын
that's more once the planets have been established.. Fenris is a great example that you just brought up: in the Space Wolf series by William King, they talk about how the planet is only civilized up where The Rout (Fang) is, and the rest of the planet is tribal. It's that way on Baal too.

Corax, Dorn, Sanguinius, Kahn, Ferrus and Vulkan got along best with Leman. He was close to Horus because they knew eachother longer than any other primarchs. Believe it or not, i think he was closest with Dorn. Dorn and Leman always spoke with the most familiarity. Later on for a short time before Leman disappeared, Leman and Johnson were close too. All the Primarchs knew Leman was honest, even to a fault. He was easy to trust or at least it was easy to trust his words. In my opinion he admired Sanguinius the most because he always spoke of him and the Blood Angels fondly. Even if Leman knew about Sanguinius's curse he would have either have kept it in confidence or protested even to the emperor against any action against him.

Yeah!!! I’ve been waiting for this- I was wondering if it was going to be anytime soon, but I know you’re busy with WH Fantasy content and didn’t want to pester you about this. I knew it’d get here eventually, and that it would be worth the wait! I’m going to be painting for a couple of hours today, and I’m saving this to watch while I do- thanks so much for putting this up, I can’t wait to watch it!

2nd and 11th are the missing primarchs not 2nd and 19th, awesome recall though very good explanation for the mighty 'Wolf King' 👍 and the Space Wolves are the 6th legion not 13th just in case anyone's confused

...so annoyed about this...in Rogue Trader, they were the IVth Legion...but during the sculpting of Jess' model of the original Space Wolves Standard Bearer, the numerals got switched round...so thus, Space Wolves being the VIth Legion was born...

The Primarchs were created in a lab under the Himalia's in the Emperors Secret Lab. Basically after striking a deal with the Chaos Gods, the Emperor becomes super powerful beyond the already great capabilities he had in the first place due his nature. What happens is he turns on Chaos and betrays them, so Chaos Gods warp away the Primarchs before they can grow. It is said that Magnus the Red and the Emperor have conversations before they even meet, the big man is literally able to locate someone hiding on a planet without anything to go by. So yes he can locate his Sons which he actually refers to as Tools of war. If you ever read the scene when he has Angron on the lab table examining the butchers nails implant. As much as the Primarchs look up to him as a father, he wasn't their father. He was their creator. Another line is he actually uses his psychic abilities to instil live in the Primarchs, so essentially a Primarch is a fraction of the Emperors power. Going by how strong they were, they are only a small percentage of his true power. This also reinforces the idea that he can communicate with them over long distances. The Father/Son thing was just for show. HE made them for humanity as their protectors, just as the Council of Terra makes the decisions for the humans, he gave them the choice of how they want to run things. Start to make sense now?
