However freddies grandslam was so monumental, if the yankees won that game 1 who knows they could have won it all taking game 1 in LA. Freddies grandslam was so monumental because his son being terminally ill in the season and him being out and dealing with family tragedies, he also got hurt in the end of the season and was playing on a torn ankle and a broken rib. And also because he did so poorly in his last couple of playoffs the past couple years of being a dodger. As a padre fan i dont agree, we beat the Dodgers in the season series last year for the first time in like 15 years. As long as their no expectations we will be fine. There's an ebb and flow in baseball, they will beat us Most years (post-season included) and we might beat them in others. And yeah, no one in San Diego likes Bogaerts. I'm a Padres fan, and I can't hate what the Dodgers are doing. Rob Manfred is allowing it which isn't surprising, so why not go all out. Despite what dodgers fans are saying " YoUr TeAm CaN Do iT ToO", that's really not the case. They have the entire Japanese's market, plus a TV deal that is absolutely bonkers compared to the rest of the league. They have the advantage more than ever, so they said F it, we are going to take full advantage. I will say I have my thoughts on why the MLB is cool with this. Shohei gets his deferred contract coming off the heals of a record low world series viewership between the Rangers and Diamondbacks. The MLB is trying to avoid being a dying sport. They could care less about the small amount of Reds fans, Royals fans, Padres fans etc. They want to please the masses, and the masses show out for the big time teams. If you ask a person who knows nothing about baseball, I'm sure they can at least rattle off two teams. The Dodgers and the Yankees. They are the MLB money makers, and they are who they want to protect. it's just smart for the business of baseball with were it is at right now. Buckle up baseball fans, it gonna be Dodgers or bust the next 5 years. Or at least Until the new CBA needs to be taken care of. Which I am predicting will lead to a strike in 2027. If there was a salary cap in baseball, the Dodgers and Yankees would be the Cowboys and NY Giants of baseball. Until there is a fair and balanced competitive system, teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets will continue to always be in the playoffs, year in and year out. Anyone saying that they run good farm systems, is full of dog crap. It is easy to run a system when you CAN BUY ANY PLAYER at ANY PRICE. The Cowboys did that in the early 90s and the league (Owners) took noticed and dismantled that unfair/unbalanced competition. Look at what happened to them. They are the most lucrative team in the NFL and they can't even make it to an NFC Championship. Baseball needs to reshape the current system, otherwise it will end up with more and more less fans.
