Two things: 1. Unless the suit tells us where the Seidler family may have wanted to move, I would be very skeptical about that particular accusation. There’s always a fight in the court of public opinion in addition to any courtroom fight, but that feels like a something you’d want to have real evidence for to back up your assertion. Otherwise San Diego’s mistrust of sports owners would only grow further, albeit in a different direction than usual. 2. Here’s a lesson it took me a while to learn: racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. isn’t something you are but something you do, and you can do something that can be perceived that way whether that was your intention or not. Most of the time these days bigotry isn’t loud and explicit because people (rightfully) understand how bad that is and it reflects poorly on the person doing that bigotry. However, if you do something that has racist undercurrents but don’t come out and say something to the effect of “I did this because I hate [insert marginalized group here]” there’s a lot of people who will either not know it’s racist or write off that potential reaction for all sorts of reasons. I don’t doubt the possibility that the Seidler bros. may not see their actions as being against Indian Americans broadly, but that’s going to be part of the narrative here. I would be hesitant to write off that angle as sensationalist or playing for public sympathy, folks. Can I just close saying I hope the Padres stay in San Diego and remain very competitive for years no matter what?

I do know Manny was a issue wherever he was, but I thought last time he played was quite awhile ago with the dodgers. The Padres are my 2nd favorite team as an East Coast person. They’re super fun to watch, love their machado controversies, tatis and ha-seong dancing, their random years where they buy half of the league(and still lose) and I root for them over the dodgers for fun. You can’t leave California with only 1 team on the race, it’s not as fun 😢 Athletics are gone, Angels are a minor league organization at this point so the 2 teams who brought in the heat were the padres and dodgers. I mean San Diego has been having problems lately and I don’t doubt that there owners or fans are a little racist San Diego is in a different county it’s very nice out there in San Diego it’s very similar to Orange County the majority of there residents are white Americans and I am pretty sure not all of them are racist it’s the 5 percent out there in San Diego that you will come across that are like that and San Diego the team is just doing bad right now I don’t know why
