A great loss to the community. Bren was not only a talented kayaker and great videomaker, but also someone I genuinely enjoyed listening to talk about his passion. He'll be missed.

I have never even met Bren and yet over the last month i’ve felt so much sadness and shock at his death for some reason. I guess it’s because Bren and Adrian, this channel, are what got me into kayaking. I’ve seen Bren do so much wild and crazy stuff on the river. He was one of the absolute best kayakers in the world, i foolishly thought he was invincible on the water. That nothing could ever touch someone like him. This has given me a renewed respect for white water. Bren, even though i didn’t know you, your videos have brought so much joy to my life. They inspired me to get out on the water myself and start paddling. Miss you man.

I met Bren in 2013 in Uganda. None of us knew who he was at the time as it was before he blew up, but the instant we saw him on Nile special we knew we were watching an amazing paddler. Then we got to chat with him and realized he was also an amazing guy, so nice and humble, just loved kayaking and living life to the fullest. Mate, you will be sorely missed by everyone. thoughts to his friends and family. RIP Bren

Saturday, 18 May 2024 Woke up this morning to be informed that the great Bren Orton was lost on the Melezza river in Switzerland doing that which he became so renowned for in the Whitewater kayaking world. It was my joy to meet with Bren briefly in Augsburg 2022. What a profound loss to all his family and friends throughout the world. R.I.P. Bren…never to be forgotten.

He was one of the reasons I started kayaking. I watched him freefalling off waterfalls, and it inspired me to do the same. Bren was my inspiration. I’ve seen most of his clips, and I’ll miss his productions, narration, and attitude toward life. He truly lived life to the fullest. Unfortunately, we’ll never have anyone who comes close to being as talented a producer and filmmaker as he was. I’ll miss his clips and stories. Even though I didn’t know him personally (we met once or twice, saying hi), he’ll forever be my legend-a source of inspiration

RIP Bren - I was a whitewater boater until I was nearly killed in a climbing accident and my injuries really ended my kayaking. Your videos gave me so much stoke! Gone far too soon & my heart goes out to your family and friends. Thanks for all the amazing whitewater videos from places I'll never see & rapids I was never good enough to kayak - I lived a little vicariously thru you and your boating.

Bren is gone? How can that be? Tears for Bren. This is hard. Really hard, and I don't know what to say. I just don't know what to say. He was so kind and so encouraging, and had such a love for life. This can't be right. I'm going to sleep now, and when I wake up, this will all have been a bad dream.

The Acheron has a new ferryman Oh Bren! It is still inconceivable to me that you are no longer with us. I imagine how surprised you must have been yourself when you realized that you would not win this battle, that your motto, "Never grow old" would come true. I am infinitely sad, because in my imagination, if we had met on the river at some point, I would have waved and been so happy and probably told everyone. I listened to your podcast again and will miss your "wa-er", your laughter, your joy of kayaking and your clever thoughts that inspired me. Your commitment to the sport, the next generation and the environment is missing, the gap will remain. I hope that those kayakers who have gone before you have welcomed you and that they will become mentors for your new task. Because there will be many more to follow, whom you will guide safely across the Acheron. And when there's nothing to do, I hope you find time to paddle the rivers of the underworld, plunge down a few waterfalls and become the sickest and best kayaker you can be there.

I ve started kayaking 3 years ago thanks to Brens and Senders great videos. As I am becoming better and better I see how much Bren is great kayaker. Unfortunatelly it has been only 3 years and I see so many terrible accidents that were even experienced personal. Feels strange. Be safe out there all of you. Nothing can beat that feeling to sit by the fire with a group o friends after everyone gets out of water safely. I wish Brans family and frends to absorb the terible pain, I am sure he would not want you to suffer of his loss.

Will miss you Bren. Bren was one of the few that had an open invitation to stay anytime he liked at the retreat. And for good reason. This season when a guest asked if I could get Bren to paddle with him and his GF I told Bren he didn't have to. Bren said, "no... it's totally fine. I'll be happy to go down the lower with him and David will goto help too." Always working out, working on an edit, smiling and just buena onda. So sad we won't get to host you for the Pucon high season. Much love to all that were lucky enough to hang out with you brother.

Just received the word today of Brens passing. What a shock! Truly a loss to our paddling community and to the world. Though I never met him in person. His videos, tutorials, advice and the occasional chat on line. It was clear he was a young man who knew how to live. Soaking up all life had to give, and giving as much back in kind. You will be missed brother. But your spirit will continue in those who loved you and those you inspired. Myself included. You’ve crossed over that last horizon line. May the adventures you discover beyond. Be as amazing if not greater than those you discovered here. And when I cross over someday, we will paddle together on that stellar river of sparkling unknown adventures to come. See you on the other side.

Great footage! The Sorba is such a spectacular run! Paddling in Valsesia (although running only the Sesia and Sermenza) during my first ever Alpine paddling holiday in 1993, I remember looking at the Sorba and wondering what kind of superhuman kayaker would be able to kayak it. I certainly didn't think that I was ever going to be that proficient. 🙂 I did get to become quite a bit better kayaker later on, but those memories did come back quite vividly when viewing this video. Thank you for that!

I just learned the horrible news. Condolences to Bren's friends and family. I'd always wanted to meet him when he was in the PNW, having lived in UK for a year in 68-69, and having pioneered some of the creeks and rivers they ran at high water, up here in the 80's and 90's.I was somewhat relieved when it appeared Adrin was taking a step back, Dane got married,,,but you could count on Bren to keep Sending content. What a shame.
