I remember, I met him at Le Bon Marche in Paris, exposing his beautiful Marinella ties. I didn’t know he was Mr. Marinella. He was extremely kind, available and giving me his mobile phone to contact him for a tie with a color which he didn’t have there in Paris. I then called the shop and ordered the tie. I received few days after, in Paris with a beautiful box and package. Amazing experience. It’s not only the tie, so beautiful. As he said in this video, it’s about the special care of Marinella’s client. He deserves all the infinite success and respect. Thanks for this kind gift to the world.

Im in medical device sales (orthopedic trauma), and we always have at least 1 international conference for orthopedic surgeons here in the US. I will say, unequivocally, that the Italian doctors that attend are the VERY BEST DRESSED men at the conference. Its something to see. They just have the very best style! Spain is a distant second, and the nordic guys dress well. Italian docs are just on a different level

@teekue6 күн бұрын
I'll let you in on a secret. The sewing and cutting of a tie isn't really that difficult. It's something a beginner could learn in a couple of days and there isn't much secrecy to the whole process. The problem is the dwindling silk printing industry. It will always be possible to make ties but at some point we might run out of the fabrics for it because there ain't no demand. It will probably take a while though because of brands like Hermes and their scarves. It will get more expensive though as the niche gets smaller and smaller!

Nice episode! Nice insight into tie making, with nice anecdotes/stories! I noticed this was the vintage suit from an episode in London. I now wonder whether the suit received any alterations (eg sleeve length, etc) to appear so spot on... Best!
@kirbyallison4 күн бұрын
Amazingly the only alternation was needed to the trouser waist. Otherwise, it fit perfectly. I enjoy this suit so much that I actually had it taken apart and the trimmings replaced. The thread was rotting. But nothing that a good Savile row tailor couldn’t take care of and I’m indebted to Dege and Skinner for doing the work. Wish I could find the rest of this gentlemen’s wardrobe!! No doubt he was an interesting man!

No... the answer is that the ties are cut for a more "American" low-waisted trouser, vs the high-waisted ones I wear. So, in order for the large blade to not be half-way down my crotch, the back blade is longer. I need to have my ties recut shorter. Going to work on this this weekend...

Kirby, great videos always. I just really dislike the back of the tie being longer than the front. You goo through all this effort to have a bespoke suit fit perfect and To me it looks like you forgot to get the right length of tie, like a child borrowing their fathers tie that's too big.
