Homer *clearly* wanted Poochie to work, the poor sod. Plus, he has *never* voiced a cartoon character beforehand (for what I know). As for the likes of Scrappy-Doo etc. , there were probably voiced by actors who had voiced tons of other characters. Just would have got a big pay check from the studio for it before moving on to something else when their character/show got axed.

This was pretty typical of what happened to cartoons in the 80s and 90s. The producers would add REALLY annoying sidekick characters in a desperate attempt to appeal to a broader audience (usually younger kids.) This is why we got Scrappy Doo, Slimer and Bat-Mite. Their role in the cartoon was either as comedy relief or to f*ck things up for the rest of the cast by doing something annoying and stupid (like giving away everybody's position or by getting captured and needing rescue)

This is actually a powerful lesson for entertainment. Simpsons is a product of the 90's, but does have messages to that are powerful and relevant today. This helps give it a timeless feel to it. Adding something that is a trend will end up be dated and ruin what was timeless.

It should had ended in 2001 eh and stay part of it's time eh instead of Fox dragging this relic of a show to the ground with so many goddamned seasons eh and should have had that chance eh? Do you think new adult animation like Bojack Horseman, Bob's Burgers etc. are more relevant than Zombie Simpsons? i mean those are true successors to The Simpsons of the new generation as even Bojack Horseman has the same intelligent writing, emotion, soul, heart, sarcastic humor and relatable characters like The Simpsons (Seasons 1 to 10) and is something missing from Zombie Simpsons. This show is like a beloved family pet, we all grew up with it, love and cherish all the memories, but sadly, the time has come to put it down.

Seeing this all these years later i can really appreciate the irony of the fact that Poochie's wanna be coolness that ended up being totally out of touch cringe is almost exactly like simpsons's lowest moment, the Tony Hawk episode, but they were serious with that episode. Tony Hawk in that episode was poochie.

The Tony Hawk episode i was still a kid when i saw and even then I just remember thinking "Something is going wrong with this show." and then sure enough that heralded the worst seasons of the show for several years.
