Hello Noraly! Greetings from India. It's wonderful to watch your great videos. You are an incredible person. Your videos are great and full of warmth and human interest, which is why they make you feel addicted. There have been many videos of travelogs through the well developed countries of the west, but none so engagingly portrayed about the great ancient and living civilizations of the Central Asia. It was wonderful to see the smiles of welcome and the warmth and friendliness of these innocent people and their hospitality to strangers. Wonderful people and wonderful cultures. You have aptly captured these aspects of the people in your travels through these countries in short video clips, which speaks volumes for your skills and acumen. It was really a great treat to see ancient cities of Yazd and Smarkhand and the mountains of Tajikistan and kyrgyzstan. Many many thanks for your wonderful travelogs which have hooked me. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Bon Voyage and Good Luck.

Hey Norali, don't know if you'll even see comments on a year-old video, but my wife and I travelled in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan 5 years ago - and we stayed in the same guest house in Samarkand as this video. The guy who met you has a twin who runs another one - where my daughter and some friends had stayed a couple of years earlier. She was our guide on this trip!

So fascinating to see those blue domed and tiled madrasas and mosques. I just finished reading a beautiful coffee table book about mosques around the world, and this one you visited in Samarkand was highlighted in there. Interestingly, something I found out in doing more research, that these buildings were in complete shambles at the beginning of the 20th century. They were basically old ruins, destroyed by multiple earthquakes through the centuries and the Soviet government rebuilt them along with aid from foreign organizations. So what you see now, as spectacular as it is, is all new, not the original buildings that date back to the 14th century or so. So glad to be able to see them "up close and personal" in your video! Truly beautiful!

Hello Norali, if you can not change the engine oil now, just ride on for another 500 or 1000 km or until you find a place who can do the service. It would not kill the engine. If the oil level is too low and you can not get your type, then top-up with any decent one of the closest specification you can get hands. Any oil is still a hundred times better than low oil. I know unasked advice ... but don't sweat over the oil.

Hey there, if your engine oil is worn out it's better to change your oil with a similar grade oil. If Basanti uses 15w40 try to get the same grade, if not use 10w40 or 20w40 until you find exact option. It's better than running on worn-out oil. PS: your blogs are beautiful!
@augm3nt3845 жыл бұрын
The Himalayan uses 15W 50 .. although u could use 20w40 a common oil .. I would not let the engine heat up too much (15 means the oils is viscous at lower temps and 50 means the oil is still viscous at higher temps compared to 20w40 ) .. hope this helps. Yeah a closer grade would be better than running on really worn oil.

Unfortunately Royal Enfield Unit singles like semi synthetic oil best. The viscosity should be 15W50, as you certainly know. Motul or Castrol are best available in Europe, but in Central Asia it´s certainly a big problem to get this stuff. Also it is quite important to meet an MA-specification in order to make the oil work with Basanti´s wet clutch. Oils without this spec may cause the clutch to slip, and also may cause damage to the catalyctic converter. However, I used Shell full synth oil w/o MA for quite a while in my Bullet and it worked flawlessly. Usually motorcycle oils do have MA spec, but car oil have not, as in cars you´ll rarely find a wet clutch. If you can only get oil with different specs: 10W or 20W is close enough. For the second number: 50 means the temperature range the oil can cover. The chemical elements to ensure proper lubrication are designed to do this job nicely even if the oil has run 10.000kms in the engine. The oil actually wears out, as the transmission cuts the polymeres over time. That means, you can be fine with an 10W40 semi/full synthetic, but probably not over the full mileage recommended for normal oil change. As I understood, the oil change interval of Basanti is 10.000km. So if you use 10W40 or even 10W30, she´s good to go for 3000 or 4000kms - but not the full 10k. Great blog, Noraly! Love it! Keep on riding!
