A tip, after adjusting the foot pegs, you can use a marker to mark on the strap and it will be easier to get to the correct position faster.

Just bought it. Waiting for delivery. I've had an Advanced Elements AdvanceFrame Sport for a year or so. I love a relaxing paddle on flat water, but I'm ready to graduate to better performance and rougher water. A review on PaddleTV convinced me to pull the trigger on an X500, but I prefer your channel now that I've found it.

A tip, the installation of the feet pegs does not affect the storage, they can be staggered front and back.

That's a very helpful video. Thank you. I have been in a kayak about half a dozen times in my life and have thought of investing in a rigid beginners kayak until I saw this. I'm really more in it for the relaxation rather than adventure and intend to kayak only in calm waters. Would you recommend this for a novice ? Thank you.

Thanks, and yes, I think this would be absolutely fine for a novice on calm waters. I'm a recreational kayaker myself and I don't have years of experience or anything. Self taught. Be safe and enjoy 🙂🚣‍♂️

Great video Stevie, so after owning this for quite sometime now, how is it holding up? Any punctures yet or quality issues? Anything you don't like about it or wish they improved on? I am in the US and am looking at this particular model, I love the color, it's probably the nicest looking inflatable I've seen. Thanks

Thanks, holding up really well after year 1. No punctures or anything. It's pretty sturdy for an inflatable, the drop stitch really makes a difference. Like a RHIB

Hi Stevie, enjoying you vlogs and have recently picked up a x500, it appears to be a version 1 as originally purchased a few years ago. Is yours a v1 or a v2 which came out mid 2020. I ask as still to try out mine and have heard a lot about stability of the older version.
@StevieWyatt
@StevieWyatt 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Darrell! Mine is a V2 so is flattened at the cockpit, making it more stable getting in and out.

@@HM-ke3vn Yes there is a label on the bag (near the waist belt) that will say "V2" if it's a version 2

Really like the look of this kayak. Have you capsized and tried to re enter? Videos that I’ve seen seem to make it look really difficult.

Thanks Jim, I have practiced self rescue. Climbing back onto the stern of the boat and slowly edging forward to the cockpit works well for me. As an inflatable it's super buoyant and easy to right when flooded

Hi Stevie, good video. I've recently bought this kayak and had a good first test on the river last week. Have you experimented with hull pressure at all? I found the kayak a little wobbly compared to my old inflatable but soon got used to it, only really a problem getting in and out. I'm wondering how much more stable it might feel if under inflated a bit, and what the performance affect would be. I paddle on the Medway and am unsure if I'll make it down the canoe chutes without falling in.
@StevieWyatt
@StevieWyatt 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ian, I haven't tried mine semi deflated yet as I've always been happy with the pressure. What I've learned recently is the original versions of this boat had a full V-hull profile throughout the length of the boat which made them unstable, which is why people started dropping the pressure. The new ones like mine have a flatter bottom so it's less of a problem. I'd be pretty confident taking the X500 down the Medway canoe passes, except that grade 3 concrete one though which could scrape the boat. I'm going to be making a video shortly about X500 stability, so I'll take it for a spin at a lower psi and report back. Cheers

Sounds like there's going to be more of us on Medway this year - a small fleet of x500 Strenfits. However, I'll be portaging mine over each lock/weir - afraid of slicing the hull at any of those passes... not the cheapest boat after all... Come on, weather... Stevie, where did you park last time?
@StevieWyatt
@StevieWyatt 2 жыл бұрын
@@TomKledecki I parked in a public carpark near Allington lock but have since found out if you ask the lock-keeper nicely he'll let you park right by the slipway behind the barrier

Just got back from another test. Paddled around 3 miles up and then back down river from Yalding. After paddling with the boat properly inflated i tried dropping the pressures. First i let the main compartment down to 4 or 5 psi (my pump gauge starts at 7psi so I'm guessing, just starting to feel soft) and had a little paddle. The boat felt less stable and didn't track well at all. I got back out, inflated the floor part of the hull to 10psi, and let the side chambers down a fair bit. This was interesting as the boat felt good again but sat lower in the water. I think I'll stick to this approach for a few trips and see. I wasn't carrying any load today, just 13 stone of me.

@@StevieWyatt Ah, right... you went to Allington, left your car there and then took public transport to Tonbridge... yeah, I went back to the video to realize it 😅 I'm planning to drive to Tonbridge and make a round trip. Maybe not the whole distance at first - possibly to the "spooky lock" and back. Hopefully I'll visit Medway more than just once...
