Hi, Stevie. Good info generally. However, not all British waterways (other than Scottish) are covered by the British Canoeing ( now Paddle UK). There are public and private waterways that require a day/week/etc. licence.

I always carry a mobile phone and a Personal location beacon incase there is no phone signal. The other reason for wearing a PFD is that it sets a good example to children. You might not have children with you but it easier for a parent to be able to show a child that grown-ups wear them. I remember having an argument with my daughter when she was about eight for the need to wear a pdf. When we got back from the seaside it was reported that four children had drowned in seperate incidents over Bank Holiday weekend.

Phone: As a paddler, I strongly recommend to buy a WATER PROOF phone like a Samsung etc... I have it always in my PDF, attached with a small rope, but never in a dry bag. I use the phone to have a look on the map from time to time.

Very nice. I remember I sat out late once and man it was tough. Lake was rough as the ocean but once I found camp the night was so amazing. Paddling in the dark is a trip, but it was amazing. I love this video man. Thank you for posting

I personally think that it's bad that a licence is required. But what's most egregious is that there's no unified licence. If we're going to make the argument that this money goes towards maintaining the waterways so you as a paddler actually want to pay it, then it should be one single licence that you buy from the government, and that's it. But as we know, there's loads of greedy people out there, and I doubt that such a single licence would be a true single licence, much like how a rod licence isn't enough to fish in most waters. This whole system needs reform. We need to encourage people to go out in nature, not deter them with complicated rules and hidden fees.

Is it available in Canada? Can't seem to find it in Amazon.

Thankyou steve for the upload I really loved it, I'm going to buy the x100 3 man this weekend,I tried the back pack on its manageable but at 18kg I wish it had a strap going across my waist too rather than just pulling on my shoulders. Your uploads give me inspiration to get out on the water with my Mrs and we also want to do some camping but how the heck do you carry it all.

I have an offer at eBay with the Itiwit 3 (looks like the old one in Black/Orange like the 100) but with Dropstitch Bottom. Is it possible or a sellers fail? I cant find the Old Charge with a Dropstitch...

Does the british canoing licence cover you for ANY waterway. I paddle in the sea but I have heard of people getting grief on the rivers nearby from members of fishing clubs and the like.

I think one exception on the canals and rivers should be if you live on a boat and already pay the ever increasing narrowboat license fee.

It's a gorgeous kayak, but....no one says, the backpack with everything you need weighs around 24 kg, which is a lot, it's heavy. I returned it, it seemed unmanageable. I have a Gumotex Swing 1, the backpack is full of everything necessary, it weighs only 13.5 kg
