Lovely family! I left the US when I was 25 and moved to Germany. I love home (Vermont) but I’m very much at peace with my life choices and love my life here. I’m heading to Portugal to walk the Camino in a couple weeks. If you guys haven’t had the chance to walk it, you might consider looking into it. Remember, life is short and we should have down this sooner 😊.

i do not see any point to relocate. We lived in Europe till our late 30ties before immigrating to Canada. I got tired of everything ancient, small houses, old equipment, lack of water supply, needs to renovate and overall less comfortable life. Leaving your friends and family behind, language barrier, medicine is much worse than here (I know it firsthand) I appreciate Canada. Living in a big house with several bathrooms, great and new equipment, no issues with hot water supply in a winter, compfortable and reliable cars and most importantly: fact that you can afford all of that if you are working. OR.... saved enough for retirement by working for couple of decades and saving wisely. Now we live in an excellent house in Canada, our kids are grown up and have kids on their own. So we have extended family here and I enjoy their company. Long winters could be difficult in Canada, so we just go to Hawaii for couple of months and come back. So, What is the point of relocations again? 🙂

As usual, encouraging! I want to move to Spain (maybe Portugal) on a non-lucrative visa and worry that I’ll run out of money. I don’t have MS Office in my new laptop yet but will check out your spreadsheet when I do. I see articles online almost every day saying that people have $1-$3 million dollars for retirement and they are worried. I’ll have a fraction plus Social Security (no debt though). Do you think I should still have hope? I’ll be working for another 4+ years in the states.

Great video and as someone who moved from Orillia, Canada to Obidos, Portugal...finding and having good help to navigate the entire process is definitely the way to go...ex. lawyers, accountant, mentors... especially if purchasing property because that system is very different than other countries. Right now we are in the process of purchasing a vacation property in Malaga...so another learning curve again! Hope you are enjoying the glorious weather!
