To overkill/starbreeze I just say, "Tough shit." They made something that didn't meet the expectations of people who spent money on something they want to enjoy, yet they seem to get frustrated when players don't like them removing fun options. And no player has the responsibility to keep a studio or game running, if they eventually lose their jobs cause players don't want to buy it, that's on them. But burying this under positivity isn't going to help. People are still rightfully mad at their actions and trying to bottle that in is just going to make everyone even more toxic when they have no outlet for their anger.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm not saying support them if you don't want to, or bury this under positivity. I'm very upset with their actions in the past few weeks, yesterday especially. I agree an outlet for anger is needed. I just want to make sure when expressing it, its in a healthy and civil way. Creators are already catching flack for it even before I made this video so I'm nervous about our channel as well as seeing the community and devs continuing to clash and get more aggressive

@@RustyChains Tuff... what else do you expect when you have a developer who keeps saying "we hear you" but keeps showing through their actions that they do NOT hear (nor understand) their community's plight? When you have a IP lead who resorts to tactics that border on Emotional blackmail? A game lead who's so gleeful about every bad design choice that it's starting to look like Hanlon's Razor can be ruled out? Civil discourse would have been an option post-launch, provided Starbreeze had leaped into action, removed those responsible for this giant catastrophe and fixed their game. Instead, we find ourselves in the 11th month since release, QoL fixes have been too little, too late and every new heist released shows the dev team doesn't grok the terms "replayability" and "longevity", on top of the many deeper issues of game balance. Civil discourse will go out the window sooner rather than later, and the more you plead for it, the more people will rebel against it. Especially with the behavior of the Dev team the way it is...

Ammo Funnel was the one skill in 3 that felt like a slam dunk, the one people were commenting on as a super fun synergy even in the early betas. The correct solution to Ammo Funnel isn't to delete it and replace it with awful imitators. _(a nerf could be fine, but the skill was fundamentally gutted)_ The solution should be to step back and realize that *the wider skill system is the problem, not Ammo Funnel.* If Ammo Funnel cost multiple points, or was a capstone bonus for completing a full Skill Line, it could be balanced via a high build investment to use it. And really, Payday 3 needs more build defining skills, enough that you have to make hard choices between them and create better build identities. Also yes, harassment is absolutely awful, full stop

The most concerning part of this whole video is the fact one of the partners is saying Starbreeze has told them before to be less negative. Considering how often the partners have to say they aren't shills and they have independence/creative freedom, Starbreeze are still directly telling them how to react? That's not okay.

Thank you for zooming in on this. I didn't explain it well here. I go into a lot more detail about it in my video from May titled "My relationship with Payday 3 is complicated". Its not that we can't say negative things or complain, we were just asked to be polite about it because it makes its way back to the office and makes people there not feel great. Entirely fair to ask people to be civil, I think

@Cincinnatus- "as I've said in the past, people at Starbreeze have told us: you're being too negative. Dial it back." This is followed by them asking the question "What are we allowed to say?" Just before the 18 minute mark in this video. Definitely something that needed a bit of a script. Doing this part of the video off the cuff is a dangerous idea at the moment. They need to be crystal clear in phrasing and intent to avoid a shitshow. It's possible to be civil and negative, even extremely negative. So it's probably best not to have said this bit at all tbh.

Starbreeze's hypocrisy is baffling. They ask for our opinion, pretend to listen and maybe even do something actually good for once, then immediatly fucks up a whole bunch of other stuff. The skill system in PD3 is mind-numbingly boring, with ammo funnel and replenish being one of the few skills that actually feel like skills and not some random "buff" (if you can even call a minor temporary stat increase a buff), and now not only we will still have this bad 3-buff system, but the only skills everyone agreed were actually FUN will be nerfed. Also when Almir asked if we would mind some legacy heists being paid, I didn't get mad or anything, I thought it was a genuine question to gather community opinions and plan accordingly, but then it went from a question to just an outright statement and it feels so disingenuous, especially after saying ALL would be free before. If I could, I wouldn't even want my money back, I would like to refund all the time I wasted playing this game and not care about it anymore, but deep down I still hope someday somehow they will fix it and it will be a good game (seems most unlikely tho).

I've made my feelings clear on different medias. I didn't go to Mio's twitter to call him out but I have mentioned he's part of the problem. I don't want Mio fired, I want him to respectfully step down from his position and give it to someone who will do something great with it. I have been married for 10 years, I care enough about my wife to strike up a meaningful conversation with her about the day and I would NEVER call her clients harassing them over a decision she made at work. It's not my place and it wasn't right for his 'girlfriend' to attack Troy and/or anyone in the community of folk that help put food on Mios...table. Mio has shown nothing but unprofessionalism and he has also shown that he's just bad at his job. Which is crazy, because all he has to do is listen to what the fans want. Why is that so difficult to do? It's not like he ever plays the game outside the punch clock... Most folk would have been fired for less, he should count his one lucky duck and step the fuck down.

I haven't played this game since around a month after it came out. The vibe of the entire thing is just.. wrong to me. So many strange design choices, so many gameplay decisions that don't make sense, it comes across as arrogant. Like "We can make whatever and they'll pay for it." I'd consider myself a bit of an outsider when it comes to Payday. I haven't followed along too much on forums, but I watch the occasional video on how it's doing. Everything I've seen this past month has shown me that the company feels entitled to the playerbase. They try demanding players come back and pay out the ass for a tiny bit more content. They push an event where the rewards are locked behind an impossible goal for the amount of players that are there thinking that "we're putting on an event, that means people will come back" despite the fact that everyone knows that the thing they'd come back to is, quite frankly, not good. They ask their partners, people who would ideally be their biggest supporters, about a nerf only to completely disregard the opinions of those partners. Then they wonder why people are upset? They have a catastrophic release, instantly alienating most of the players who were interested. Then they not only alienate the few that stuck around, but get pissed off at them because the players were predictably upset. Why give those who remain any reason to not want to play? There's next to nothing to do in the game besides play in one or two ways, and whenever someone somehow manages to find a new, fun way to play the game, they nerf it into irrelevancy. It's like Starbreeze has shot off both feet and has moved up to the head. It's astounding to me that the people who were in charge of making these decisions are still in charge.

Clearly the devs need to be better listeners to the community. The skill lines need a serious reworking anyway. But the general consensus is (to me) if something is fun and working, now is not the time to break one of the funnest skill combos in the game. Starbreeze needs to air on the side of player fun. Until such a time where the skill lines get reworked and there is much, much more content for the players to engage with... Why is this so hard for them to understand? Frustrated players = less players = less income for Starbreeze... How hard is that to sink in?

I do not understand this fascination modern game developers have with losing progress. Especially when you consider how so carefully refined Payday 2 has become over the years, with weapon and skill balancing, progression, perk decks, pre-planning, and on-the-ground strategy and gunplay, you could have LITERALLY just remade payday 2 in a new engine with some minor QoL improvements and you've got an instantly successful game, so why and how do they figure they can make a worthy successor to a game like that by taking it in an entirely new direction, one that won't be fully realized without the decade+ of work it took to make PD2 what it is?

I got the styntax error heist hoping it would breathe new life into the game, and it didn’t. Now it seems that Starbreeze is prioritizing balance over replay ability and fun. Payday 2 in its state is not incredibly balanced but it is fun. Hopefully they can No Man’s Sky PD3 and come back to it in a few years. TL;DR: Game has low replay value, devs are prioritizing balance over fun, hopefully PD3 can be salvaged

I think at this point especially it's clear to say that one of the biggest problems PAYDAY 3 has, is its game director Mio. I think it's obvious from the start of the game that he's not the right person to handle the game. From what I've know he's responsible for most of the design decisions of the Game. Be it the skill system and the whole Edge, Grit and Rush thing (which the majority of the community/playerbase doesn't like) the armor system (which the majority of the community/playerbase also doesn't like) or his weird kink of everything being a finite resource and constantly having to be micromanaged and to finishing Heists as fast as Possible (which oh surprise the majority of the community/playerbase also doesn't like). He's absolutely stubborn and unwilling to make major and significant changes. He doubles down on almost every criticism of the various things that the majority of the community/player base doesn't like and basically sets it up as either WE just don't understand his vision or WE just don't understand how it works and therefore we don't like it. And his attitude towards criticism seems to be more like (Your Opinion, My Choice.) Mio and the other developers at Starbreeze should have worked more according to the saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Of course it's important as a developer and game director to come up with new and creative ideas, with which you can expand and refresh what already exists. But I think one thing that every good developer should have, is the ability to acknowledge when something doesn't work or isn't well received. And instead of reacting with stubbornness, you should have the ability to say, ok we tried it, it doesn't work, let's change it back. but Mio is clearly not ready or capable to do that. Yes, he changed the Progression system, which is a good thing, but only after massive and ongoing backlash from the community, and yes, he also gave us the Adaptive Armor, but that didn't seem to me like something he wanted to do on his own, but rather something he had to do it & did so we wouldn't ''annoye'' him with it any longer. When the Adaptive Armor came out, I imagined him just rolling his eyes in annoyance, quickly throwing something loosely together and throwing it at our feet and saying (here, there you have your Adaptive Armor, now go away and leave me alone). The Adaptive Armor is a step in the right direction, but it's also just a loose bandage wraps around the actual problem, like with pretty much everything that's been done up to now (with the exception of the Progression system change). instead of changing the unnecessary and annoying things in the game people don't like, these things will only be made less annoying, but they'll still be annoying. With Mio I just get the feeling that he isn't interested in making a PAYDAY game or a sequel to PAYDAY 2, he wants to make his own game. He doesn't give a damn about the legacy that PAYDAY has built since PD:TH and PD2 and the community that has been built from PD:TH & PD2 up until now. I don't think Mio or anyone at Starbreeze seems to have any idea why everyone likes and loves PD2 so much. Personally I liked PD2 so much because it was a fast paced action pact goofy and fun shooter that you could jump into for a few quick rounds alone or with friends when you didn't have much time. Or when you did have time you could spend an hour or more in a heist with friends and have fun sneaking around or blowing up hordes of cops. With the help of the skills system, everyone could either specialize in a special role in the team, or a certain weapon category, or a certain heist, or just try out a few meme builds and just have fun. There was so much freedom and Variation that simply don't exist in PD3. In PD2, the focus was first and foremost on having fun, which isn't the case in PD3. The developers want to force their ideas and decisions on us, regardless of whether we're having fun or not, or whether we like it or not. Personally, I can't imagine PD3 coming anywhere close to where PD2 or even PD:TH are today. Maybe in the best case scenario it will be an kinda okay game, if at all. but I can't imagine anything more than that. I also can't imagine PD3 having a second year. At least not a full year. I think once the year's contract is over that's it for PD3 and maybe it's better that way at this point. I love PD:TH & PD2 but I don't see any hope for PD3. Starbreeze had the recipe for success for PD3 on a gold diamond encrusted platter. All they had to do was take everything that was good about PD:TH & PD2 and combine it into one game and build on top of it with new mechanics and ideas. But instead they threw the gold platter away and looked in the trash for something new. Instead of building on what was good in PD2 they decided to throw away everything that made PAYDAY unique, special and good and start all over from scratch, turning PAYDAY from a special and beloved game into a generic and annoying shooter. The only improvement PD3 has over PD2 is the engine, the stealth system and kinda the gun play. But other than those things it doesn't do anything better than its predecessor, it just makes everything worse. And the only thing that feels like it's left of PAYDAY is the name, the masks and co-op. if I remember correctly, RedArcherLive once said in one of his older videos about PD3 that there is a kind of symbiotic relationship between developers and players. Because without developers there is no game, but without players the developers don't make any sales and so when developing games certain compromises have to be made between what the community wants and what the developers want. And in itself that's right, but I think in this case, the time for compromises for PD3 has been over for quite some time now and if Starbreeze still wants PD3 to have any kind of success, they should start giving the majority of the community wanted for almost 10 months now. But let's be honest, PD3 would need a massive overhaul to be as successful as PD2, or maybe even a little more successful. And we all know that wouldn't happen. I would really like and love it if PD3 could still make it and become the game we all want it to be. But after all the ups and downs over and over again, I'm just done. I've reached a point where I just don't care anymore. I just want to look forward and forget that this is what PAYDAY has become. I'm just glad that a friend had gifted that game to me on Steam, and I didn't buy it myself. The only positive thing that came out of it was that we installed PD:TH again after all these years. We got two more friends to join us. The four of us had more fun than we had in years. It was a good change from PD3. Just a game that is fun to play and doesn't just frustrate and annoys you.

I think they should focus on making a higher difficulty or making overkill more challenging rather than nerfing options to make the game harder, it also doesnt help that heists feel so boring and similar, theres no big heist or challenge, itd be great to have something like Overdrill in payday 2 to work towards being strong enough for, but most heists feel like beginner heists. Builds in this game also just feel really boring, to me the only slight fun build and what i would always run was the Mosconi infinite build, its what i grinded to unlock at launch even with all the problems because at least that seemed fun, but now thats it going to be gone, why would i bother playing? When i could just go back to Pd2 and have a multitude of fun builds, i dont care about the future of pd3 or supporting them when they have made in my opinion a boring game, built with mostly boring systems and heists

It's really unfortunate to see all of this happening, I and the community just wanted a decent modernization of Payday 2 with updated mechanics etc. but honestly every time I finish playing Payday 3 I get left feeling unsatisfied like the game at this point should of been much much more considering OVK's experience with Payday 2. It just seems they are forgetting the very same lessons they learnt from back then so who knows what direction the game will go? Here's to hoping it is eventually as strong and as feature rich as Payday 2 but right now I think I'll take a big long break from Payday 3, play some of the other games on the market just as I am sure the rest of the community is going to do and hope only for the best.

Honestly I'm with you 100%. It genuinely sucks so much how all of this is going. Taking a step back is probably what I'm gonna be doing for a while for Payday until the devs either get the groove goin again or I'm saying my last goodbyes to Payday 3 on it's last day of service. This clusterfuck has so far been the ONLY time I have been genuinely angry with a company and the way it handles itself along with how it views/tries to speak to it's playerbase. I won't lie I've been doing my fair bit of shouting at them on twitter, so that definitely hasn't helped the situation. I'm just wishing for Starbreeze and Payday to make a comeback and make me feel like my pre-order for the Gold edition was worth it and I can get back all that love and hype I once had for this sequel to one of my most favorite games of all time. I'm gonna pull back and not do any more shouting, don't wish to add on to the pile of arguing that's going on anymore. I'm just gonna be on the far side-lines and hope that shit gets back on track eventually before we hit the final destination...

Listen, when the player base calls for the removal of a person what they are basically saying is "We as your primary source of funding do not like your performance and wish to fire you". Is it toxic? Perhaps. But I stand by the player base (that is rapidly dwindling) in voicing their opinions. The way the player base is being treated by this company makes them seem more like indentured servants rather than valued customers.

Just came across your channel. Subbed 👍 Something no one seems to be pointing out is the camera skills in stealth which are pretty good but become useless when the 5 second camera mod is active. Basically making all those skills totally obsolete. I got the gold edition and bought payday 2 not only on release day but twice. Once on the 360 and again on x box one. But I uninstalled payday 3 after nearly every heist has the shit 5 second camera mod. Starbreeze are losing all the people like myself that made the franchise what it is. Remember starbreeze there are thousands of games out there for us to move on to. You need us way more than we need you so maybe you should try listening to the fan base instead of doing your own thing with a bloody minded mentality

I want to be civil, but I feel like the only way to be heard is by speaking the truth constructively and from the heart rather than just from the mind. The worst part is that I absolutely love this franchise, and it breaks my heart to have to write this comment. I’ve remained quiet from the start until now because I believe this might be the only way to effect change. I think the benefits of speaking up this way outweigh the consequences of making the Starbreeze employees uncomfortable. I don’t want them to take it personally, but at this point, I just don’t care anymore. I’m going to give the game a few more chances until September (because I bought the Gold Edition, which I now regret), but after that, I’ll be giving a huge "f word" to Starbreeze because enough is enough. I’ve lost faith, and something tells me I’m not alone. I’ll echo Almir’s quote: "Please support the game if you like Payday." WE ARE ALREADY DOING IT (for the few players who have the patience). We are playing your disappointing game because we want the franchise to succeed, not because Payday 3 is good in its current state. They should be grateful for our support, but instead, they seem clueless about why the game is failing, despite the obvious fact that it was released in a very unfinished state. We, as players, are not responsible for that. They might think the Boys in Blue update was a huge improvement (though it was honestly just the bare minimum to give the game a one-month grace period). They should at least seek our approval before making any changes, but that seems too complicated for them. They continue to ignore us and do whatever they want, even after ten months of clear failure. To be fair, not everything is awful, but the progress is too slow, reflecting poor resource management, focus, and vision. Here’s a recap of the state of the game ten/eleven months after release: Performance: Still problematic. Skill System: Still lacking. Replayability: Nearly nonexistent due to lack of randomization, preplanning and only one game mode. Heist Inspiration and Action: Still lacking, with no memorable actions or plans. Adding scripted actions like those in Payday 2 heists could help. Progression System: Very basic, made worse by the lack of replayability. Objectives: Some are okay, but many could be improved. Shooting: Good. Storytelling: Poor, though it has improved slightly in the last two heists. Stealth: Fairly refreshing, but some mechanics are easily abused, making the game too easy. Weapons Attachment System: Still poor. Armor System: Mediocre, as armor doesn’t recharge after being completely broken, punishing players for staying too long in a heist. UI and UX: A mess. I’m honestly ashamed of it. Player-to-Player Interactions: Terrible, with no loud/stealth filter, increasing frustration and toxicity. Update Release Rate: Still lacking. Sound Design: Good. Soundtracks: Very good. Animations: Good. Visuals: Good. There are probably more issues, but these are the key points for me. What we've seen fixed since launch: Quickplay, a temporary fix for matchmaking. A solo mode (lobby hosting on your PC but only to play alone). A basic progression system. Various bug fixes. Added animations. An unready button (sorry for the joke, but it's still a step in the right direction). The sentiment of disappointment will continue to grow until they address the real problems with the game. Progress seems stagnant. For the love of God, they need to stop ignoring the majority of the issues and stop believing that they’ve done most of the work. There is still a lot to fix before new players will naturally start playing the game. Sorry for any mistakes in my English, and sorry to Starbreeze, despite them being completely responsible for what happened to Payday 3.

I really don't give a shit if a pve fps is "too easy" if the game is fun and has a smooth flow to it. What did the devs think they're going to accomplish by making ammo harder to stock up on? It's not just mio, i don't think any of the devs care about this game anymore. They're probably bummed that their work couldn't receive good reviews, thousands of players playing their game everyday and continuing working on it is not motivating and on top of that it's clear that they're not passionate about this franchise at least not passionate enough to make decisions that will make the game fun and memorable so it's joever i'm afraid. Too bad that the game is dedicated servers only so if they shut down the servers it will be gone forever and no modder will be able to fix it.

I can say for a fact this isn't true. As a Starbreeze Partner we talk with several devs in different departments daily. A lot of them care very much and do their best. The animation team in particular is killing it. They're just struggling to catch up after the fumble of launch leading into the delays to get Operation Medic Bag. The struggle isn't coming from lack of care but lack of preparedness for how to recover in the event of stumbles along the way

I wanna share my experience with Payday 3, I have no real motivation to debate about it or stuff like that. So I bought this game on Day 1, worst decision I've ever made. I booted up the game and was already hit with a bump in my confidence: I had to create an account to Starbreeze's website client to even do anything in it. The next was how empty the game's story is, I had already paid $60-70 for what was 8? maybe 10 (probably, i don't care to check anymore) missions for literal months up to a year or so. However long in we get 3 legacy maps, 2 of which I have no desire to play as I do not have the patience nor nerve for stealth and the other was the Lab Rats Legacy mission, that was alright. I was hopeful for a new story addition as i was getting kind of fed up with playing the same missions over again with no deviation in strategy. God was that ever a monkey paw wish: new story content came out but with a price tag attached. I pay $60-70 for a nothing burger and they ask $25 more for a drink? I gave up, I lost all motivation to play this game. Felt like 3 raccoons with internet access was behind the wheel of making this dumpster fire. Also side tangent because I just remembered- Who the fuck greenlit those "stand in circle in open cover to hack the wi-fi" type objectives? Fucking hated those filler objectives with a passion. This game's content feels like it's made to keep the lights on and it depresses me, it could be so much better if Starbreeze could swallow its pride or have an ego death or few. That or I'd rather Payday 3 have never been made, just let it be that hopeful possibility to a new instalment if it meant we didn't have to see the pathetic struggle of trying to stay active.

The problem is, they WANT to make us content but they are lacking the actual funds to do as much as people are asking for. So the only solution is to make heists, new and old, so people quit bitching about the lack of content but it will have to be paid.
