Its a mystery to me. People get annoyed with definitions like Autism to describe some people

If some people do indeed get irritated at the idea of defining (or further refining, to be precise) a notion, I guess it is because they are afraid to lose some status. Imagine you get relief from the idea that you are 'great' (without further elaboration), how would you feel if you are told 'no, you are not great, you are different'.
