It's a shame the same writers couldn't do all of Halo 3. The main guy took a sabbatical and only came back for minor edits towards the end. Halo 3's story is still pretty good, but the cutscenes and writing are nowhere near Halo 2's. Halo 2's are still better than 90% of games released today.

In Halo 2 you can destroy all of the guns on it, or shoot down vehicles it's carrying, heck you can even kill the troops on board before they get dropped off, but the ship itself is invincible. Halo 3 is when they became destructible.

Just gonna start writing this comment and add to it as I get through the video... - To answer your question, the planet the Covenant set fire to in the opening cutscene was Reach, which was the biggest, most important colony to humanity. The only planet more important the Reach, is Earth, and Reach was well regarded as the strongest military stronghold in the UNSC. The Pillar of Autumn fled as Reach fell, jumping through "slipspace" and winding up at the Halo ring in the first game, which is where the game picks up. - Sgt Johnson surviving the first Halo ring and making it back is covered in the books, and there's actually some juicy lore involved as to why/how he managed to survive, which is super interesting to Halo nerds like me but you don't need to worry about it for now since you're just going through the games for the first time. - The hunters in the first game were chumps once you figured out that a single pistol or sniper shot to their unarmored midsection takes them down (easiest from behind). In every Halo game since they have not had that weakness. - Something I think you missed in the first Halo was that the Flood are extremely intelligent. They were working to repair both the Covenant ship that you retrieved Keyes' neural implants from and the Pillar of Autumn. That's why they had such a heavy presence in both locations. Also, that cut at the end was hilarious!

The voice acting, writing, casting, and music were so ahead of their time in Halo 2. Literally all they had to do was update the graphics and it’s back on top, even surpassing most AAA games released in the decade since the Anniversary came out. And this remaster and HW2 are evidence that classic Halo would work in live action. Not one person can argue otherwise. The show could’ve been it with the budget, actors, and props it had, but people can’t write to save their lives these days.
