Unlike most of the poor quality 'reality' shows on TV these days this one is not manipulated by a producer to make it more 'exciting'. It proves you can just have a good person doing his best to achieve a goal, working hard and doing a professional job of recording it, and it works!! This is true reality. Watching everyday and amazed at the progress Dan is making, mostly on his own.🇳🇿🇳🇿

Agree this should replace some of the mainstream TV, great idea. I watch these videos many times and get a bit more information from each episode, especially outside the main focus of the video to see what the walls will need, ideas about where the lift will go 😅 how modern this renovation will look trying to keep us much of its history in place. Totally agree and I like that Dan has taken charge of every aspect of the filming of his videos. It makes it extra special when you know he has done it himself and I for one truly appreciate the time and effort he takes to get different and interesting angles. It make the whole experience truly unique and he puts so called professional TV crews to shame.

I'm glad it isn't mainstream TV as if it was, it would be dumbed down to suit the many simpletons which todays TV seems geared towards. The producers would also want to hint at potential disasters that *could or might happen*. I don't know if any of you pay much attention to what is said on these type of shows on television but it's always "If they don't meet the deadline, disaster will happen" and such stuff. Take a listen yourself to tv, theres always the negative element which drives me mad but of course, theres never any need for what they've said. I stick to youtube now. I love to watch Ashville, that is a great channel but Daniel who runs his own building , concrete, aggregates, home renovation company and does the videos has been making a programme for Nat Geo. Its called Building Impossible with Daniel Ashville (starts mid Sept) and having seen a trailer for it, I am so disappointed as it seems OTT with unnecessary DRAMA which is one thing that 'Chateau Dan', Stephanie, Billy and 'Daniel Ashville' don't need!

Dan put a photo up one day when he didn't have time to make a video, saying what he had been doing, including getting the puppies but he never mentioned their breed or names etc. I can only assume that when he had the boys and his former family dogs to stay fairly recently, he probably missed them when they went back to Annalise. He has a fantastic place to lark about with pups. I just hope they have a kennel and run for whilst Dan is working and preoccupied.

Some way to go ,once the floors are in he can take down the frost damaged walls in each section rebuild to original plan and then reroof each sector ,treating each one as a separate terrace because of all the different levels and roof treatments.

Wish Dan would use rappelling gear ...or something to catch a potential fall. I feel the same about Martijn Doolard in the Italian Alps when he films himself going to the very edge of a precipice at least a kilometer down. Same with a couple (How To Renovate A Chateau) who went hiking without any gear in the Dolomites recently. I hope all these youtubers aren't taking chances because they feel compelled to give their audience a thrill. The difference between a movie & them is that a movie is usually fantasy packaged as reality with all the CGI tools at hand, or at least experienced stunt- men & women. Sometimes I am even driven to prayer for my favorites.

I agree. I love watching Dan's amazing progress, but all I could think of today was "Couldn't you just put a couple of temporary floor boards down so that you are not standing so precariously on those joists when you put in a new one"?
