A quick change of the opel astra gsi z20let water pump and cambelt, always use proper genuine items. The ford rs turbo has a damaged camshaft. Very common on these engines. Luckily its used as an excuse to upgrade to a solid lifter cam for more power

Like you bud, had years an years of messing with em, solid engines but the rocker arm/spring area/design is piss weak/poor, I've ripped studs out in past, helicoiled and ragged on 😆 Shocking that lobes gone, piss poor., possible the rockers been over torqued at some point, but definitely looks just a piss poor cast. Keep the indepths flowing man, is good to see someone showing the muck before the brass 👌👌

CVH tappets are still available from Ford, i have a couple friends who have bought a set and fitted them to their engines, i'm going to buy a set too as my CVH is noisy but runs perfect. You also MUST use s high Zinc oil these days on flat tappet cam engines specially the CVH, the Zinc is a crucial additive which prevents cam and tappet wear. Valvoline Vr1 5w50 is good, so is Millers, Penrite, Comma X-Flow 10w40 have high amounts of Zinc which is good.

The plastic blades on the water pump are for safety. If you haven’t got enough antifreeze in your pipes head and block they snap off the water pump so your cam belt doesn’t jump a tooth.

Its more like kent cams are just adding material to the standard cam lobes and machining ! A fully ground camshaft wouldn't have this! The money they charge aswell for old rope!! I hope they read this response and do something about it!!

Kent cams were good but now they're fucking useless it was a kent cam in series 1 rs turbo and it broke in two. So I changed the whole engine as I have a few of them lying around. Dont use the rs much anymore just use my tickford turbo capri much better car than the escort lol
