Dave: "it's a lovely bit of ash" Sean Connery: "well, thank you, I do try" Love Dave's enthusiasm for just about everything guitar. And that guitar sounds awesome. Although to be fair, I think Dave could play a kitchen pan with rubber bands for strings and it would sound amazing.

Some of the Hondo 2 guitars were made in the Matsumoku factory, alongside Antoria (Ibanez for UK market),Tokai , Squier (when they were good, first series) and others. Charvel, Aria Pro2 and Westone came later. Hondo were essentially a catalogue guitar, mail order. I am slightly obsessed with guitars made there. LOVE 'EM!

My first guitar was a strat copy my mum bought me back in '96, that looked liked that. The brand was "Jim Harley" and I literally melted it, to the point that only the body survives to this day. Since she passed away I 've been thinking of rebuilding it for sentimental reasons. Seeing that guitar and listening to Dave playing it, I made me make up my mind and will start purchasing parts. Keep playing an uploading Dave, cheers from Athens...

The one's you bring back to life are keepers. I've got a 2005 Squier Bullet SSS HT that's been repaired, that I've done some work and put myself into. So it's going nowhere, not that anyone would pay much for it as a 17 year old Squier Bullet. So it's one of my first reaches & daily players.

My first guitar was a 1982 Hondo 760 series (Strat) guitar in candy apple red. My parents bought it for me when I was 5 when I got jealous that my brother just got one. Lol. It was too big for me and never touched it. It lived in a case for 38 years until I pulled it out, got it set up and started taking lessons with it. Fast forward to today and the only thing that I would ever consider replacing is the electronics. The guitar itself is incredible. The neck is fat and awesome. My parents bought it for me so I would never sell it but I may soon upgrade some things.

This is absolutely up my street. I've been playing for about seven years now and made my way through a few decent guitars however I still find myself coming back to my first guitar. A pretty basic Strat copy, which always had a fantastic neck on it. I've never wanted to part with it and always wanted to keep it useful, guitar shops I've taken it to for advice have often told me just to save money and 'buy a new one'. Cut a long story short, I've completely changed up the neck set-up, new body, new pickups etc and it sounds great. I think it adds a lot to your playing to play something you genuinely love and have a story with :)

Dave, I love the way you paid homage to that guitar, showing that it had been loved by the wear on the fingerboard - many many hours of playing. Well it is now back to doing what it was designed to do, and that is make music, which as you proved, it is very capable of doing that, even with just 5 strings! Well done and take care!

The guitar is a sacred thing to you as it is to me, isn't it? I truly believe I'd have died a long time ago were it not for the guitar and the music from Elsewhere that it allows me to bring forth. It's alchemy, it's the magic of transmutation that has granted me grace and the chance to turn pain into joy. And here I am, watching and hearing you do this too. Man, this is beautiful, this is art, how everything else in the world shines so brightly but on the inside it's empty, dead, without heart and soul. But music. The guitar. Never _ever_ will it let us down. Thanks for this, Dave. Now I don't feel quite so alone. **And that last part! FUCKyeeeeaa!*** **Note #2. The guitar is bad _ASS!_ **

That guitar looks a lot like Blackmores guitar that he used at the Cali Jam in 1974 , I love the look of the 70s Strat's but every time I've played one they have been awful , My fav Strat era is the 1960s one as the necks on those guitars just feel perfect and the pickups have that Hendrix tone ,where as when i played a 70s Strat a real one at Sam Ash Guitar centre in LA on holiday it was terrible , I ended up buying a Squier classic vibe instead , though the 70s Strat was a bargain back in 2012 a real 70s Strat for only £1500 quid but saying that the Pound was worth like double a dollar back then so around $3000 bucks lol

Beautiful guitar and beautiful playing. My very first guitar was an 80's Hondo strat. I hocked it years ago and really regret it now. How is the weight on yours? I remember mine being extremely heavy.

It was probably better than a CBS fender .cos some of them were junk .the Chinese squires from the last couple of years could be better ..I repaired a 1970 for a lad and that thing was a piece of crap the body was great .but the rest was terrible .the pickups sounded thin as hell the F machine heads were worse than any cheap Chinese machine heads for stability I’d ever tried ..somebody had hacked the body out the same ,with a chisel to fit a Dimarzio humbucker in the middle position ,the pots and ceramic cap were still original and still worked fine apart from a bit scratchy but after a good spray with contact cleaner they come right around.I re soldered it all again as most had reallly bad dry joints and big blobs of solder where they had fitted the dimarzio.but the frets were good and the wear was nice on the body and neck .but I’d say a classic vibe would run rings around it ..
