Long time lotus esprit owner. My favorite from stylistic perspective is the S1. I was glued to my phone watching this video. So cool to see the finished paint job! I hope you will have many fun opportunities to take the car out and enjoy it.

Great job. I could never remember where all the parts go. I’d have been left with a box full of trim and fixings 😂

Great video & great car! I’m pretty sure the Espirit won a car crash safety award when it was first launched.

I love how you scrutinize the car build from factory. To give future buyers and restorers hints how to improve the car. Well done. Lovely filmed and excellent voice over. Very nicely done. With a lot of educational content and technical details.

Absolutely fantastic work, well done. Now go drive it. My Esprit has (unusually) done >800 miles in the last 3 weeks and they’re fabulous on the road.

Good work, I note your gas struts are upside down, if you leave them like that they'll not last as long.

I was hoping for a white S1 to come from the painters. As , to me, white is what all S1s should be. Being a Bond fan, I'm sure you can understand why. Are you going to install AC in the car?

Man, I'm so happy you did this. This car was on my local Marketplace for months. The owner was all about leaving the faded paint and interior, and while I admire the committment to originality...the Esprit is too beautiful to be left that ragged. I'm curious about the suspension. Stock Esprits have a considerable wheel gap, but yours is nicely tucked. Looks great! Is it on adjustable coilovers, or lowering springs?

I’m really surprised to see how well known this particular car was. I have had countless people mention they saw it or knew it at some point in time. The paint was an absolute disaster idk how anyone could have left it, the interior was surprisingly nice though. One thing that bummed me out though was there was so much more mechanical work that needed to be done than I expected. The suspension is the aftermarket kit from SJ. The rear are adjustable and the front static. The ride height is now where it should have been from the start!

@@mitchellkohrmann Yeah I remember one of the guy's videos talked about how great it ran, and then suddenly in the ad it mentioned that the clutch was seized??

You should have gel coat the entire car before paint, or you could have feather in some gel coat in areas that the get coat is thin or fiberglass repair spots. There is also something called SANDY that is used for fiberglass top coating vs gel coat which can be challenging to use and generally does not lay flat as primer surfacer ....... Curious what method the painter use before top coating, and what paint did he use...Car looks good what did the painter charge for the paint work?
@mitchellkohrmann3 ай бұрын
@@blkcoupequattro the paint was relatively cheap. A few grand plus equipment cost, but I did a lot of the prep which I know is a big chunk of the process. But this was actually not an original gel coat car for some reason. The guy who sprayed it works with a lot of fiberglass and especially corvettes so he said he was no stranger to the process so I trusted his advice
