You really see the downward slope of the dash here, an interior design choice I've always loved - it's almost the inverse of the windscreen angle, and very contrary to modern dashes, which tend to slope upwards if anything. Nice work on the cleaning - some chemicals and an extractor on the driver's side carpet would give you the same result as the passenger side, most likely.

You have done a great job, I think not changing or improving the interior is a great decision as a perfect interior will just make you reluctant to drive the car for fear of causing wear. What is the purpose of a Lotus Esprit if not to drive it!! I agree with other posters it would be worth getting one of those smaller steam cleaners and removing the seats again and giving all the carpet a really good going over. There will be a surprising amount of dirt you can pull out plus a steam clean can often help with refreshing the fibres and making them feel better.

Wow great job, its come out so well considering the age of the lotus! Bet it feels a lot nicer to sit in now its been cleaned and conditioned! Love the interior colour scheme, pretty rare like that!

The interior has cleaned up great it looked dark burgundy not red before I'd keep it original also, totally acceptable and usable keep up the good work

The interior looks perfect! It would be a crime to reupholster it or even paint it! A small steamer might pull the leather a bit tighter. But even then, I’m not sure it needs that!

@@timdeakin2524 I agree. I’m one of those people that likes to keep original if at all possible. The exterior is a bit tatty with some lacquer peal in places and micro blisters. From a distance it looks good but close up not so good. Not going to do anything with it just yet, I will live with it for a while but will probably bring it down to you sometime for your advice on what to do with it if that’s okay with you.
