Nice kit my personal med kits also include a tiny flashlight.. or photon micro light.. a Swiss army SD keychain knife...(the best scissors in the world along with a main blade a file with a flat head screwdriver tip which can be used for Philips head in a pinch.. a fantastic tiny tweezers and a toothpick)... On a slightly larger kits I add. Blood stopper powder available at Walmart pack of two envelopes for $5 put one of those in... Also a SWAT-t tourniquet which can also be used as a pressure bandage.. very inexpensive flat and light takes up virtually no room

"Non-Aspirin" medicine = Tylenol. Don't try to sound fancy! :-) I'm a little disappointed you didn't have meclizine in the kit. Great for nausea/vomiting/motion-sickness/and vertigo. Something to maybe consider in the future.

This is great. Trauma kits a wonderful and I am glad that a larger emphasis is being put on carrying them, But let's face it you are a lot more likely to have to treat a cut or burn than a sucking chest wound.
@bradsimpson87244 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've looked at a lot of "EDC" medical kit videos. It's amazing how many people are geared up for treating a sucking chest wound or tourniquet a limb(although I question how many people are actually trained/practiced to properly use those tools), but comparatively few of them are set up for when your kid tumbles off their bike or you slam a finger in a car door. I get that public shootings are unfortunately kind of a norm these days, but there are way more people who snag themselves with a fishing hook or twist an ankle and fall down some stairs.

In USSR we dont have such strips, we have bandage and VODKA for desinfection.)
@skandinavianskate9 жыл бұрын
In Finland we have only bandaids. Vodka is for drinking not for destroying wounds

Desinfection (I mean) - drink vodka. Not for destroing wounds, of course).

steri-strips are used when you have an open wound but getting stitches isnt an option.

I've been making my own version of this to add to my Trauma kit. Would it be safe to assume you'll have a combo kit coming up?

Would you consider producing a version with non-NSAID alternatives, for people who are already taking blood thinning medicines?
@8mmfanatic10 жыл бұрын
I think adding some silver chloride would be the best option for people on thinners. Usually you can get it cheaply from pet stores. It performs an ion exchange with the sodium chloride in your blood and will quickly seal up cuts.
@RoadieRich10 жыл бұрын
I meant that as both aspirin and ibuprofen have blood thinning effects, you're not supposed to take them if you're on blood thinners (e.g. warfarin, in my case). A version containing acetaminophen would be better in my case - although I suppose it's an easy enough thing to add, assuming you can find it individually packaged.

ThunderChicken They have the 4x7" Aloksak bags, but these in the kit are way smaller than 4x7". In fact, in one of the pics on the store page for the Aloksak bags, they show it holding the Boo Boo Kit bag. If they have the smaller bags in the store, I didn't see them lol.

its no longer recommended to do breaths with cpr.......just chest compressions.

That’s more in the “Trauma” section, this is a bitch kit not a trauma kit.

I thought it was kind of accepted that CPR was strictly chest compressions now. Are we back to doing breaths as well?

Am I correct in saying that I didn't see or hear! Neosporin, newskin or tape. Nice kit overall you guys do a good job. One other ??? the bandaids are they the water proof ones
@kpw52810 жыл бұрын
The "triple antibiotic ointment" is the same thing as Neosporin, it's just a generic one rather than the brand name. I agree though, some type of newskin or super glue tube and some medical tape would be a good addition. As for the Band-Aids, I don't think they are the waterproof ones. Hope this helps!
@stronglikemonkey10 жыл бұрын
kpw528 The Moleskin is similar to newskin. In my opinion its superior. Its a staple among hiker, backpackers and outdoorsmen alike. The tape is a good point though. But the steri-strips address wound closure on a smaller scale. Wouldnt be hard to add some compressed tape to the kit. Seems well thought out.
@wildfire5357510 жыл бұрын
newskin is nothing like moleskin; newskin contains an antibiotic and a clotting agent. it also secures /seals the wound. it is designed too stay on the wound till fully healed "dissolved" by the body also increases healing time.
@kpw52810 жыл бұрын
wildfire53575 Yeah, I was gonna say the moleskin is COMPLETELY different. Newskin is like the "liquid band-aid" stuff, pretty much medical super glue lol.
@wildfire5357510 жыл бұрын
new skin " surgical super glue" was developed by the DOD and picked up vary quickly by the general hospitals. I used it in the field as an navy HM saved my a lot of time and supply's, I didn't need to carry as much for general wounds / surgical kits. treatment time was less then 5 minutes no transport time. the spray works great for small cut's. the liquid works best for small to medium wounds, just place into wound pinch it together and top dress. takes the place of strips and small stiches.
