I grew up on a dairy farm in Maine. We almost never used a tedder. We had 2 New Holland Haybines and had the rear chute as wide open as it could go so we laid down wide swaths so it dried quickly.
@RouthFarms6 ай бұрын
Seems like the last several years we haven’t had a choice. If we don’t we just can’t get it dry all the way through and don’t want to risk mold or a fire.
@aaronsanborn42916 ай бұрын
@RouthFarms yep my uncle only got in one cutting last year it was so wet here, he always gets two. Hell I work construction contracted out to a big paving outfit I lost a week strait of work at one point last summer
@Florida2396 ай бұрын
Down in the south the humidity kills hay drying, without a Tedder your lucky if you ever get hay up dry the way the weather is anymore. I always wanted to go to Maine do some hunting 👍

Very nice hay and hay bailer. i have a new holland 450 roll belt net wrap... i had the twine bailer for over 25 years.. let me tell you.. if you can afford one.. once you get the net wrapper you will NEVER use twine again.. its like night and day... my old New holland as it aged i would have a problem with one side tying and the other not and it would get to wear if it was thick hay it would clog.. i bought a new net wrap in 2019.. no more clogs and no more worrying about one side not tying.
@RouthFarms5 ай бұрын
I think net wrap would be awesome. Just a lot more money to spend. Maybe one day! Thanks for watching

We had a 925 moco with the tines and it cut our drying time down whole day we now have a vermeer with the tines and it's the same way there awesome

This is my first season with the 926, but I like it. Really enjoy the hydraulic fold!

New viewer - great content. Please keep the hose of the fire extinguisher from rubbing on the PTO. If the hose gets damaged, it won't work properly if you need it.
@RouthFarms6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Nice catch on the hose. I really need to buy a mount and mount it on the baler somewhere. It was just rubbing on the plastic shroud of the pto, but I’m sure I definitely could eventually rub a hole in it.

The rain is a blessing and a curse, we have been fighting it in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. I just keep saying its part of farming, all we can do is leave it in the hands of the Good Lord and work hard!
@RouthFarms6 ай бұрын
Usually this time of year it stops raining. So I’m doing my best not to complain, but that’s hard when you can’t get in the field. Thankfully we are done with our hay and full season brand now
@jamesberg31066 ай бұрын
Suggestion, carry that bale low coming out of the field. It will keep your tractor stable and you safe

To be honest i never ever used a tedder see lots of them i cut with haybine disc bine swather never used them i figured they shake all good leafs off but maybie iam wrong ? But i always had it dry in 2 to 4 days depends on weather
@RouthFarms6 ай бұрын
It definitely can hurt the quality of hay by tedding especially things like alfalfa or clover. Here in NC our humidity is so high we have issues drying a lot of times if we don’t Ted it.
