So after my trip down to Suffolk, I came back up north on a mission to photograph the bearded reedling or more commonly known as the bearded tit.
I had one place in mind in which I was going to go to see these birds and that was the RSPB Leighton Moss nature reserve, I had been told that there were sightings of them already in the Reed beds, so with my camera in hand I made my way up to Leighton Moss as soon as I could, or should I say as soon as there was a dry spell in the weather as it had been absolutely torrential rain for the last three days.
I made an early start arriving at Leighton Moss at 6:30 AM in anticipation of being ready to photograph the bearded reedlings, but after waiting for three hours nothing showed up, so I headed off to the center for a quick cup of coffee and a bite to eat before heading background towards the far side of the grid trays only to be told that hours 15 minutes late as there had been 30 bearded reedling's flying around the Reed beds just moments earlier.
I could not believe how unlucky I had been just for the sake of something to eat I'd missed out and photographing the bearded railings however I wasn't put off and I was determined to stand my ground and wait for them to return if at all,
fortunately, after just 30 minutes not all familiar chirping sounds of the bearded reedling could be heard as they started approaching the grit trays through the reeds and it wasn't long before they started popping out so I could start taking some amazing pictures of these fabulous looking birds.

That was indeed amazing. So happy for you to get those lovely little birds and not miss out; gorgeous images of them. I am really pleased you included the mute swan, I think it's the most beautiful bird in the whole world. (Ours are black and lovely too.) On your feet for so long... that's why your vlogs are so special, it's all the effort and patience and expertise of course.

You did well Ashley, I was there this morning and it was dead, didn't help that RSPB was cutting all the reeds down in front of the Causeway hide. There was Beardies, at both locations but they never settled, they were just flitting around, too fast to capture. October tends to be a good time for them, so will try again. Good video, keep up the good work 👍

yeh they were cutting them last week, down that way, so everyone headed towards the Grisdale Hide and they were all over that side, they are also not fond of wet and windy weather I belive, so they may have just been hunkering down a bit. 👍

I didn't expect too much today due to the wind, but they were flying around, just not settling on the front edges of the reeds or the grit trays, never mind, I will try again soon.

Great to see these images. I particularly like the backlit great white egret and red deer footage. It was nice to chat with you on the sky tower, one of my favourite places to look out upon the beauty of Leighton Moss.

Hey up mate, didn't know you had a channel (new sub lol). Nice to meet you on the 21/9, I was the one that was all hyper after all the action (I think this was the morning you missed them?). Anyway I am sure I'll bump into you again, probably at Grisedale trays as it's really been the most active again this year so far.
