I've seen people hit trees while alpine skiing, sometimes they get up & are fine, a few broken legs, & a few with a destroyed knee (ending their abilities to ever ski again, better off breaking a bone than destroying a knee), twice they never got up again & died in the hospital. Also back when I was 14 I watched someone disembowel themselves by crashing into the pipes used with the snow-making equipment. The last horrible thing I saw was only the aftermath, while skiing the glades (means skiing between tightly packed trees, yup a death sport), I stopped to wait for friends up hill from me, but when I looked down hill I saw that the trail was gone (sinkhole?), it just dropped 40 feet into a pit of broken jagged boulders that were completely drenched in fresh blood, blood from an hour, maybe two hours before & a ton of foot prints (so it wasn't a bear, or they weren't dragged off by one), & the amount of blood if from two, maybe three people they would have been fatal, there were filled bathtubs worth of blood coating everything in a 25/30 foot circle at the bottom of this drop off. Nothing reported in the local news, & the "trail" wasn't marked off as closed... Skiing in the trees you're not really on a trail, just the last persons ski tracks to go by, if it had or is snowing, you're making the trail. I yelled up hill to my friends to cut to the left to the normal trail, only one person skied to where I was standing & he started to reach for his camera, I told him that wasn't cool, if I didn't just happen to stop here we'd be in a broken pile down there bleeding out. Him being an ex-Marine you'd think he'd know better, anyway it was over cast with flat light, any pictures wouldn't look like anything. At most major skiing resorts there are gruesome fatalities every week, it is not in the news since that would hurt business. And the number of heart attacks & strokes are most likely many fold larger. Always makes me think of the Mayor from the movie Jaws, wanting to keep the beaches open.

him being a marine is why he was grabbing the camera. always have evidence, its just pragmatic. (the thing I always hear are there are no "ex"-marines. not honorably or acceptably. they always are. (plus well... death scrapbooking)

Damn Gundam has seen alot if he's just like."well that happened." To a dude straight up dying. I would've been like Ryan in the moment.

Imagine making light of a guy you were in a group activity with, tragically dying in front of you. Gundam coming off like a real POS in this soundbyte.

Maybe but from a different perspective it also sounds like he has amazing emotional coping skills to deal with tragedy. He can grieve on his own terms and focus on the task at hand in otherwise emotionally crippling situations. That’s a management skill also a mental skill needed in many emergency services jobs or military. So maybe a dick if he didn’t grieve later, but also explains a good personality trait from another point of view: compartmentalization.

I think that is the living in New York thing too long. His other stories include him basically being hunted down and beaten by multicultural kids who were bigger and stronger then him... in high school, and middle school possibly> that will mess with a person if they learn to adapt to that they may be a bit more... detached to deal with it psychologically, being hunted down constantly by people the culture and school lets do that. thats pretty bad and kind of evil of society if you think about it. and he experienced the effect of what society allowed to happen.daily potentially.

@brutalhonesty07 I can't get into his head obviously. I do agree that humor and the ability of being able compartmentalize trauma is a positive trait. It's just the way he told the story sounds extremely uncompassionate and cold. Not like someone who spent even a single moment grieving. It's just a soundbyte though, so maybe he's not this callous outside of his internet persona.

@@stevelethal2910 We agree. My point is we can’t judge by just a clip of a performance persona. This is a big flaw of how audiences perceive social media people.

@@stevelethal2910 thats what happens to people constantly exposed to trauma, they learn to completely not feel it and to only lightly joke about it. it comes as a coping mechanism because they are under the same threat of that happening to them and they have to cut off emotionally or they will freeze up or be unable to survive in their environment. its just basically, dark sense of humor or serious PTSD ... and sometimes you get both

I ride motorcycles, but I’m not that brave. I’ll stick with enduro/dual sport bikes. In general, you have Less chance of getting into trouble on a KLR650, or a similar bike, than on a crotch rocket.
