Seventeen’s practice room was literally the basement of pledis. It’s the green room. So that’s why that line at least for me stood up a lot, because they literally built pledis’ old building, pledis was bankrupt so Svt basically saved them

Not exactly bankrupt but they are not that good in financial situation since they are only an average size company.

@Appreciate Dino everyone!! They are really struggling but not till they are facing bankruptcy. It took a lot of money to debut such a huge group. If they want to debut group as big as Nu'est, they would still be able to promote a lot compare to a small size company. In Kpop, Pledis is considerably average size because they have the record of debuting successful group like After School and Nu'est and they got the connection to help them to promote their newly debut group. Pledis CEO did take a big risk to debut Seventeen with a lot of members. Luckily the members are talented and passionate enough to push and outshine other group that debut from bigger company.

The whole song is like a subtle diss track to the people who thought svt would never make it big. Woozi started making songs for svt and basically saved pledis from bankruptcy at the soft age of 18, svt made their own choreographies, own merch designs, managed their concerts, promoted themselves all on their own. They officially hold the "Self-produced" Idols title and I'll always be proud on how they have become million sellers for the 7th time with Sector17 and are the ONLY group to make it into global ifpi chart with two albums.
@Introburp2 жыл бұрын
fun fact: not sure if anyone already said it but WOOZI is one of the main producers of all SVT songs and he won producer of the year last year at AAA being the youngest producer to win. But there are a lot of songs under woozi's copyright too. He's the vocal leader but he is one of the main reasons of all SVT albums. Which is a big responsibility for him. He rarely cries, but he cried when they 1st won a music show award. But Seventeen is named "self producing idols" because all of the members have part in writing lyrics. And the performance unit (Jun, Hoshi, The8 and Dino) (leader: Hoshi) handles all of their dance, in the earlier days Hoshi is really strict with choreo, like it's always timed, synchronized and calculated because he also feels that pressure to be successful.
@kpoppapi14932 жыл бұрын
Vernon has a huge amount of writing credits also and he and Woozi are two Korean artists that are on a list of Songwriters for Korea with the most song credits to their names. But it seems like people always overlook Vernon and give all the credit to Woozi I wish people would quit doing so because it over shadows the contributions from the other members in their song writing. Yes Woozi produces the music along with Bumzu his mentor since trainee days but other members have been involved in the production side and composing side as well.
@Introburp2 жыл бұрын
@@kpoppapi1493 Apologies if you felt that way. I didn't intend to overlook Vernon or any of the members, i did mention that they are self producing idols because all of the members have part in their songs. it's true that Woozi is the one usually acknowledged because even the members do so but everyone in Seventeen have songs under their belt in and out of SVT.

The "basement" line is also literal because they were actually practicing in a basement room predebut. And Pledis was in a pretty bad financial position when Seventeen debuted and they're the ones who built up the company again, making enough money that Pledis could buy another building etc... Edit : oh and the line about "how are you going to feed everybody" is also an actual comment they and their CEO got, to which the CEO replied "If I worried about that, I wouldn't have started in the first place". That comment really stayed in the members mind (they've mentioned that anecdote a few times before) and they set out to prove that their CEO was right to believe in them.

CHANGE UP is also SVT(Seventeen, whatever you want to say it) Leaders first song. The part where it says "Everyone thought we're gonna fail" I remembered when their debut song 'Adore u' was released. Some of the people who anticipated for them (by watching 17 project, or their trainee moments in the green room) were disappointed. They believed that Seventeen had a 'bad start' coz at that time most bgs will debut with badboy concepts and such but Seventeen debut with a soft concept.

Oh wow, yea we knew they were in hybe but didnt know pledis was bankrupt.. seriously they came a long way.. good to see theyre doing well! Theyre talented forsure❤️
@sunflower2carat2 жыл бұрын
The thing about the ceo selling his house isn’t actually true. It is rumored the Vice President did/mortgaged his home to fund seventeen’s debut (he was responsible for seventeen whereas ceo hss oversaw nuest) but there isn’t media that confirms the house thing. That said, they were basically bankrupt for sure (seventeen’s shining diamond where Vernon raps “I’m only 17, I only got a few dollars” has a double meaning in which he is 17 at that time with not much money and that they are the group seventeen with $5 and a dream lol) but they made it, Seventeen saved pledis and themselves. Even before hb acquired in 2020, there were discussions for aq by CJ in 2018 but it ended up not happening (there is media on this). Basically year after year, seventeen proved they were rising higher and higher particularly around 2017 and 2018; they were able to show they were going nowhere. Even when they debuted, they were the only rookies with their albums charting on billboard (not hot 200 bc svt didn’t distribute to the US officially until 2021). And also when they debuted, everyone thought they were going to fail; like knetz were so on them for being 13 members and self producing (this was before self producing became more accepted in kpop like now). Side note, media gave seventeen the title of the original self producing idols bc even though people did self produce before, it was a diff caliber for svt; woozi is their main producer and composer from day 1 (over 100 songs, including IOI’s downpour), they created their own choreo with Hoshi taking lead back then. with their sharp knife cut dance and synchronization; their fresh concept that was the opposite of what the current trend was for bg, Seventeen made an impact. bg following seventeen basically used them as a template and it’s not a reach to say they were highly influential in shifting the industry to a more dance/perf heavy trend (which we see 4th gen is more of). Groups younger than them have admitted to saying their companies had them train watching seventeen. Sorry for commenting so long under you….it ended up that way

@kimchinjeon61562 жыл бұрын
The lyrics really came from the bottom of their hearts because pre-debut, seventeen got a lot of hate for just having a lot of members. They really started from the bottom, the members would buy their own earpiece (headphones at that time because they really don't have money), they would promote themselves to be known by the public, and as some people have already said, their company was bankrupt before and in order for seventeen to debut, they forced (i mean not forced but you know, they don't have to but the company couldn't afford much) themselves to write, compose, produce and choreograph their music, owning the title and the first ones to be called self-producing idols. They really did everything themselves, no one paved the way for them, because they paved their OWN way. They said that seventeen are lyrical geniuses and woozi is the center of everything. These boys are talented af and no one could tell me otherwise. Their discography is versatile and people who are saying that their music is trash are tasteless. These boys went through a lot of hardships and having a company not being able to provide a lot for them, they never gave up. And look at them noooow, selling 1.7M copies of 1 album in a day, and selling 1M and up copies of 5 consecutive albums, members also participate in writing and composing sooo the royalties they get too. They also have an original variety show on their channel which gets a million views every episode, sold out concerts on BIG arenas, sold out merch, sold out everything, music show wins here and there, recognized by millions of people, loved by thousands, they are also respected by their juniors and adored by their seniors. Seventeen really have come so far

I'm late and someone probably explained it already but SVT Leader obviously come from the fact that each member is a leader of svt's respective units. Scoups (hiphop n general), Hoshi (performance), & Woozi (vocals). Members mentioned that these specific 3 were very scary during trainee days lol. Seventeen are known to be self produced groups but they always say that they didn't work hard to get that title, they got that title because at the time they HAD to. Pledis was literally bankrupt and the CEO had to sell his house for seventeen to finally debut (pretty much gambling). They started in extremely poor conditions so they wrote, produced, choreographed, designed, and promoted the group by themselves. I'm truly proud at how far they've grown!

I loved everything about your reaction! Love how you guys broke the lyrics down for us because it makes me love and appreciate this song and Seventeen even more. Seventeen definitely had one of the most humble beginnings and practically saved their company. I am glad the6 are with HYBE now because it gives them more resources since they are so freaking talented, they can do it all. The 13 members are genuinely close and very open about their friendship and even their differences. I think that’s why they are so strong together and all renewed their contracts with Pledis. I’ve never seen a group whose family are also close to each other where they all attend seventeen’s concerts and go on trips together. Also, seventeen is the funniest group I have ever seen and I like a lot of groups. They are entertainment gods and their variety show, Going Seventeen, is the best of the best. You will laugh your asses off. I really hope you guys check out more Seventeen, especially this last album Face the Sun, literally no skips! And they have a new repackaged album coming out soon. I’d recommend you check out Left and Right, Rock With You, HIT, Fear, Anyone, Fearless… they don’t disappoint and they have done a lot of genres. Still blows my mind that they produce, write and help choreograph their music and performances. This is why they are my ult group.

Seventeen is known for being a SELF-PRODUCING GROUP. They compose and make lyrics for their songs with the lead of Woozi, even choreographs their songs with the lead of Hoshi. They tend to make a lot of songs for Carats even in s fast pace thats why they call Woozi's studio as Universe Factory bc its like they make music nonstop but the thing is every song in their albums is amazingly made, like it is made not roughly nor halfheartedly but wholeheartedly and with much details. Theyre just geniuses when it comes to music and performances. The lyrics and concept of their songs are always great and clear. I really hope you can check their discography bc they' ve got a lot to offet, from ballads, chills, rock-ish, hiphop songss etc. I am always proud of them. Even theyve got this big, their ambition and humbleness is still their. The quality of the music and performances they give never declines.

Yeah everyone said before that too many members cant last long and they came from small company... but because they not rely too much on their company that’s why they become big... their perseverance and passion is no joke that’s why they become self producing idol coz 80 percent of it are all by themselves, they really wanna debut so bad that they done everything... it started when they going to have a weekly performance as trainee but there are some problems and the company staff witnessed how SVT solved it by themselves, Mingyu made their logo during trainee days and also made their mascot... that’s why we Carats are so relieved when they renew their contract

Just a few things. The small room? That’s the infamous melona room, pre debut, practise room. Also the basement room they’re talking about. The too many members is an actual comment they got saying that they won’t generate enough revenue to even feed 13 boys, let alone succeed. And ‘bap’ means rice also, so they’re saying we’re now drinking fucking champagne baby all 13 of us. Plus woozi, who does majority of the producing for svt from day one also had that massive pressure cuz he felt it was all up to him. Too much water - they as a team are uber chill, ( watch recent gose mbti) so that also. Change up - reference to the first svt leaders song. A lot references to old mvs and songs (anyone, home run etc) and many inside jokes, like the woozi calling hoshi, the flute. It’s a packed packed mv.

First of all I loved yall's reaction! Y'all always make my day with your reaction and just being yourself which I love. Second, thank you so much for taking the time to explain the lyrics so that we have a better understanding on why these songs are so great. I am so happy to see yall's Seventeen journey.

DIDN'T KNOW SUCH CHANNEL THIS AWESOME LIKE THIS EXIST. I LOVE HOW YOU BROKE DOWN THE LYRICS TO BE MORE RELATABLE TO US FANS. KNOWING THE MEANING BEHIND MADE ME APPRECIATE HOW EXPRESSIVE, WITTY AND SMART THEY CONVEY THEIR MESSAGES. ESPECIALY THAT THEY ARE THE ONES WRITING THESE LYRICS. I LOOK FORWARD FOR MORE SEVENTEEN REACTIONS VERY SOON! YOUR CHAOTIC ENERGY AND DELIGHTFUL INSIGHTS ARE VERY INTERESTING AND HELPFUL!
