Just cause Palpatine and Vader are dead, doesn't mean suddenly the Empire is just gone. Remnants of the Empire are still everywhere. The bosses were taken out but the Empire was across the galaxy.

It's like when Lincoln or JFK were assassinated. They were dead but the country didn't cease to exist because of that (obviously palps died during terrorist attack on a major job creating infrastructure project and not while out in public minding his own business, but it's similar)

The thing I liked about the stormtroopers this episode is how beat up and dirty their armor looks. Between that and previously using a GONK droid instead of the little mice droids to guide visitors around their base , it really sold the idea that the Empire (or at least this faction) is on the decline and is no longer a powerful faction at this point

7:26 This scene is a perfect example of "Show don't Tell" letting the character's actions tell the audience what he's thinking without any dialogue and allowing them to draw their own thoughts and conclusions as to what's going through his head, and they managed to pull this off Without even showing the character's Face, it's so good

Mando as a kid, his town was attacked by the separatists during the clone wars, as you can see by the super battle droids and droid gunships. This is why Mando doesn’t like droids. Even though the emperor is temporarily gone and Vader is dead, Palpatine has contingencies and empire is collapsing, but not fully gone

the flash backs actually take place during the clone wars not the imperial era, it was the CIS separatist droid army that razed Mando’s village when he was a kid. the “great purge” of Mandalore carried out by the empire, happened before the events of episode IV.

Btw, to answer your question about the empire being destroyed, Return of the Jedi ended when they killed the emperor/destroyed DS2, but the empire was still going, and still had control over a lot of the galaxy. They didn’t fall until a few years later (you can read about it in the Aftermath novel trilogy or play parts of it in Battlefront 2 campaign)

Mando's parents died during the Clone Wars, killed by the CIS. Also, the Empire fractured into several factions, one being the First Order and another the remnant that we see in this show.

Mando follows the customs of the old Mandalorians from the time of the Mandalorian Wars. This is a kind of religion and a cult and respect for the former Mandalorian power. They never showed their face and fought the Jedii proudly, but they lost and Mandalorian Empire Colapse. Currently, the cult of the Mandalorian Wars or warriors is very small, which could be seen in the Clone Wars and Rebels where the Mandalorians did took off their helmets.

Just keep in mind that in regards to getting deeper into the show, this series is (thus far) of an episodic format, not a serialized one. The story of the episode is the focus, not an over arching plot. You'll enjoy it a lot more if you realize that up front.
@jacktheflash8478
@jacktheflash8478 2 жыл бұрын
Well it does have an over arching plot
@AarowSwift
@AarowSwift 2 жыл бұрын
@@jacktheflash8478 It has a background plot. Episodic shows don't typically have over arching plots that last more than a few episodes. For the most part they have a background plot that primarily serves the purpose of facilitating the telling of short stories (that typically last one episode, though you can have those multi parters). The easiest way to tell the difference is: does the episode serve the plot by developing or advancing it, or does the plot serve the episode by acting as a reason for the short story to take place. Mandalorian is pretty classically structured as an episodic show. Once the plot is introduced, it acts as connective tissue between episodes, but it sits in the background and all of the focus is on telling short stories until season's end. The episodes each have their own beginning, middle, and end and are a complete self contained story. Though, what happens in them can certainly influence future episodes, so while they are self contained stories, they aren't necessarily isolated events.

Someone make a compilation of clips of Primate talking about being glad he watched the animated shows first/watched through chronologically so that when other reactors start their Star Wars journey you can just link to it to show an example of another reactor being glad they went with the suggestions because most of the time they don't.

Also, the thing with the Empire still kind of being around, I'm not sure if you've seen the sequel trilogy, but the Empire-like regime from those movies is basically just the old Empire reborn. After Return of the Jedi and the official disbanding of the Empire, there were a handful of Imperial officials that went against it and stayed in circulation and just hid way out in the corners of the galaxy. And then they slowly rebuilt their strength and eventually came back as the First Order from the sequels. So this time period is that transitional phase where the Empire's technically gone, but the remnants of the Empire are still around and trying to regain strength

By the way, 'The Client' is played by veteran German Director Werner Herzog, who helmed movies like "Bad Lieutenant" with Nicholas Cage and "Rescue Dawn" with Christian Bale, among others. He only acts occasionally, but you can see him in "Jack Reacher" (another turn as an cold badguy) and hear his voice in Series like "The Simpsons", "Boondock Saints" and "Rick and Morty". Guy comes around. Just thought this would be a neat tidbit.

I knew you would love seeing the Mandolorians in live action save the day. I honestly think they revealed themselves to help because Mando was saving the baby, now making baby yoda a Mandolorian foundling. They clearly value the foundlings from episode 1 when Mandolorian donated part of his beskar to the foundlings. It’s one of their core values. To me, the episodes just got up from here. I watched clone wars and rebels between the two Mandolorian seasons. I’m so glad I did. Like you I prefer rebels. I think it’s because I grew up with the og trilogy and that show that just more of that vibe. And this show I knew was going to be great from the sizzle reel alone. It just feels like Star Wars. I tolerated the sequels but I can’t rewatch them at all since the first episode of season 2 of the Mandolorian. It’s just so much more Lucas feeling than anything else in the Disney era.

Man this episode is great. It’s so cool to see the Mandalorians come out at the end. Fun fact, I’m pretty sure most of the background Mandalorians are part of the 501st legion (not the legion in the clone wars, but a real life group of cosplayers that was started in the late 90’s and then the name of the group was put into Canon when Dave Filoni created clone wars which is super cool) and they were asked to use their Mandalorian cosplays in the background of this episode as extras. Also, the big Mandalorian that picks a fight with Mando is Paz Visla who is related to Pre Visla from Clone Wars, and he’s played by Jon Favreau who also voiced Pre Visla and created this show. It’s just super cool to see and I can’t wait for more reactions to come

"The Mandalorian" is the best Star Wars material Disney has ever produced. Second only to "Rogue One," but that's a movie. Movies are always on a different level from TV series. Their other two series: "Book of Boba Fett," and "Kenobi" are okay. But really just okay. Take 'em or leave 'em. Neither show has the weight that this show does. As evidenced by the fact that "The Mandalorian" is going into its' third season, by popular demand. Not a whole lot of other Disney shows, at the moment, can make that brag.
