It was a working ranch and an excellent place for boys to go when their family was going through rough times. They were only there about a year but it left a permanent, positive impact on them. Not a native Georgian, but my family lives out all over southern Georgia. The family farm is just outside Waynesville and I've got folks all around Waycross, Brunswick, and Valdosta. Spent a lot of summers and Christmases in Georgia. My family also likes to play this game with the kids at our reunions so I knew a good deal of these. Brought up a lot of memories thinking about some of these places, For example, when I first got my license I was driving to the family farm on a foggy night and took a wrong turn. I called my dad when I saw the signs for Ludowici because I grew up hearing the stories of how it was a terrible speed trap especially for anyone with out of state plates.

Hey y'all! Loved how y'all jokingly said my birth place of Hahira wasnt real. My daughter and I went through all the vids for this set. Loved it! Btw Senoia was mispronounced. The people who live there add an a on the end. Used to live in the area. I have lived in Thomaston,Molena,Forest Park,Jonesboro, Lake City,Riverdale, and Woodbury during my 20s. I worked all around the area. I been back home the back 20 years. Love your channel Btw can you do a video on southern towns that have military bases. It is really interesting how some folks dont know how to handle us

As a native Floridian, one of my favorite jokes is about the Yankee husband and wife who came down to visit Disney World. They come into Kissimmee and get into an argument on how to pronounce the name. He said it's pronounced KISS-i-me and the wife said, it's Kiss-I-mee. The argument goes on and and gets more heated until they drive into a hamburger place to get lunch. They go up to the counter, still arguing and the man finally said to the boy taking their order, "Young man, my wife and I have been arguing for over an hour about how to pronounce the name of this place. Would you please just say, very slowly, how to pronounce the proper name of this place?" The kid looks startled, leans forward and says, "Bur-ger King".

@petesheppard17096 жыл бұрын
I grew up in Georgia and Alabama and I missed most of these. For many of these towns, you have to BE from there. A couple more: Buena Vista--NOT Spanish, it's BU-na Vista, not BWE-na Vista. Lafayette (both Alabama and Georgia)--La FAY ette, not the French LA fa yette. Ya gotta be local! ;)
@petesheppard17096 жыл бұрын
@JW McCabe Down here, the locals (I have lived near both), pronounced it the way I described, the correct French pronunciation notwithstanding. :) That's the humor of this video!
