Different kind of South than the Deep South It has its own culture.

There's Texas, then there's everywhere else. As Texas is Southern, Texas is the only state that has it in their constitution they can separate from the Union to be it's own nation. So yes, Texas is more than just "Southern"
@mrdonetxСағат бұрын
Why would Texas lower it's standards just to be considered "Southern". No thanks. Texas is Texas. Where if you only have room for one flag it's the Texas flag that is flown.

Good one, I originally thought they were for the "Woman" to see a Good man Hubby material. So she could see where all the Good men are on a hoe phase. So they don't get played. Tricked. And PIMPED

According to the Missouri Compromise, Kansas is a Southern State, not to mention that Texas was already a State by 1860, so it definitely counts as part of the South. Oklahoma is part of the South too, by way of being sandwiched between Texas and Kansas. Also, according to the Missouri Compromise, Missouri is actually NOT a Southern state. It’s not below the Mason-Dixon Line, that was the whole POINT of the Missouri Compromise! Y’all need to check your US History, which is the very thing that DEFINES the South!

I’m sorry, incorrect Donna! Buc-ees is now in Springfield Missouri. So do you guys really think that Virginia and Maryland are southern states? Because I’ve never heard anyone reference them as southern states or Delaware. You cannot possibly be using the Mason Dixon line. it only goes under Pennsylvania, that is so far north east that is ridiculous

I live in the state that once was the capital of the Confederacy. There are many days when it does not get above 32°F here. And we are part of the south.

The reason we have this debate is due to marketing. Following the Texas centennial in 1936, some Houstonians began marketing Texas as its own thing to separate it somewhat from the South. Prior to this there wasn’t any debate whether Texas was southern or not. It was and is. It just has its Texan flair, like the south Louisianan’s do as well. The South has a number of regions and cultures unique and different

Let me put it this way. Here in Texas, we have tex-mex. Anything east of the Sabine is a hard pass on Mexican cuisine.

Were we unfortunately part of the Confederacy? Yes. Have you heard of Juneteenth? Started in Texas. That alone right there is a huge argument for us being a mostly Southern state. That's why the Mason-Dixon line is a thing .... Sure, there's a big part of the state that is southwestern in sensibility, but we are, by and large, in the more populated areas a southern state. Manners, southern/country living, food, accents culture and so much more are southern. Each Southern state has individuality, ours is just XX Large. heh. Also, we do know how pronounce pecan correctly--unlike some others.

I strongly disagree with the ruling and with Diane. She verbally attacked Donna by saying Buck-ee’s had big teeth. Plus, everything Diane ever said was a lie. Texas Independence Day is not on March 2. That is wrong and a lie. I am saying, I am disqualifying Diane for verbally attacking Donna for the rude comment, she made about the restaurant having big teeth

Going by actual debate metrics Diane lost as she dropped her case by saying texas is southern and so much more. The topic was mot if texas was just southern. She quite literally agreed with the affirmatives case and invalidated her entire argument.

Texas IS southern, including the dishonorable history that all the south shares. Miss Diane, I do adore you, but respectfully, you are wrong. Every other southern state has their own cultural mix. You mentioned Louisiana. Remember the French, the Spanish, and even the Canadians that immigrated to Louisiana and became the Cajuns and the Creole. And then at the end of the civil war, Juneteenth happened on June 19, 1865 in Galveston. That Union Colonel stood on the balcony of one of the Broadway Beauty mansions and read the proclamation that General Lee had surrendered in April of that year. He declared all enslaved people free. They didn't leave Texas off the southern list. I was born there. We're southern. Now Florida may be geographically south, but it is definitely not the south except the panhandle, which is lower Alabama. The dangly bit is just where the northerners have colonized. Well done, Miss Donna.

We have a Bucee's in Colorado - just putting that out there. Texas is Texas first, southern second, part of the USA third. To be fair, the part of Texas that is southern is larger than most other southern states. But, then again, the parts of Texas that is something else could also be its own state too. There are some fun facts that involve how big Texas is: 1. Texarkana is closer to Chicago than El Paso. 2. El Paso is closer to Los Angeles than Beaumont 3. Orange, Texas is closer to Jacksonville, Florida than El Paso It is 880 miles from the Louisiana state line to New Mexico state line on I-10 - the longest stretch on a single Interstate in one state.

I think there is a line from dallas up to kansas including ok: east that is south. The middle states are there own thing: odd and different territories. Western of dallas is not southern at all.

Texas is indeed it's own South. We are the last bastian of our Republic. I live in East Texas & we eat Southern food & drink sweet tea. But depending on where you live you will get a different lifestyle. I'm with Diane. Texas is so much more, but we're definitely kindred spirits with the rest of the South.

I cannot say Texas is not southern, but I have to say Maryland and Delaware are not. Also, Donna messed up when she included the northern pronunciation of Pecan pie. 🤣
