@@prag Being a man is tough. That is what makes you a man. One needs to watch out for all types of things that will come into your life, some help build it, others (most of what is out there) help break it down. You define yourself. One can have fun, but for god sake, tread with caution and protect what you have at all costs. Always be 100 steps ahead. Learn, don't get fooled, overcome and don't repeat, you know the saying.

Single mom from the video here! Thank you to everyone who had kind words to share or appreciated my answers. This was two years ago, most of my answers remain the same. However I am always learning and take 100% accountability for where I am in my life as a single mother. I no longer ignore- (lol) I try to communicate with facts, not feelings. I don’t think women rule a relationship. I think men and women are in a partnership, one in which I find works best if led by a strong and capable man. Loved being apart of the video. Great experience. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

"Why do women often want sympathy rather than solutions?" YES OMG YES. I've asked myself this question so many times with my ex-wife that I just gave up offering solutions. I never thought this problem was shared by other men.......
@lambpuppyoww3239
@lambpuppyoww3239 3 жыл бұрын
I caught up with my ex one time and this topic came up. What she told me enlightened the way I think about things and improved my future relationships drastically. First of all, to her what I was doing was 'fixing a problem'. Obviously I was being empathetic and didn't want her going through negative emotions and suffering, so I try to find ways to resolve whatever situation she was in, but at the same time it is true that I wanted her to stop nagging and just be happy and have good time together. There was an element where I was oversimplifying the situation and by coming up with fixes I wanted it to be better immediately. The reality is far more complicated. If it is a work situation (Which often was for my case), you have to think about longer term relationships, all the power dynamics, how other colleagues will perceive her afterwards and so on. When she complains and vents at me, she is of course doing some of that simplification because what she wants to do is to vent, not analyse 50 different variables that contribute to the complicated situation she is (we all are) living in. By venting she is able to let off some steam and that is enough to help her get over the day and carry on. Even if we solved that problem, life will give us one after another. She wants to be okay with the world and know that her partner be that stable rock rather than have him try to fix everything into unrealistic standard of ideal problem free world. Secondly, this is from a negotiation class, but the best way to change somebody's behaviour is to get them to come up with a solution on their own. We could offer that by listening and proving with right questions. Offering a solution solves the problem on the surface level, but if you share some of the concerns that could be used as her own thinking tool that can be applied on multitudes of complexity that lies underneath what she just vented on. Also, I'm not saying it's not entirely my (or your) fault, but there were definitely cases where I was sick of it and just wanted the problem to go away. My ex was a crazy b**** in many other ways though, so I learned from her but didn't lose out by letting her go lol.
@gregorylagrange
@gregorylagrange 3 жыл бұрын
You got the equalist mindset answer from the "relationships are 50/50" perspective. But the real world answer is women do want to vent, but if you haven't set the frame in the relationship then she will respond like the dynamic is the same with one of her girlfriends. You can check out a video titled "It's not about the nail", but men should hold frame so that she knows that if she doesn't want you to add solutions to her venting about something that is most likely something that can easily be resolved, then she needs to vent to one of her girlfriends and not treat you like you're one of her girlfriends. Men have different communication styles than women. Men lean towards information and content, women lean towards how something made them feel. Women take longer to get to the point. Will give multiple examples of something when it's already established where they are going. You can try the negotiation stuff and don't offer solutions, but it will then lead to her getting a high on the emotional drama and you'll then be in a dynamic of feeding each other's cravings for drama. And that's going to be one sided being a man. So the frame will change in she'll rely on you to just be an emotional release avenue and she'll get used to flying off the handle. You'll no longer be seen as the steadying force in the relationship. You ever hear about why women can't get along with each other? Their love for drama and chaos ends up wrecking everything. If she doesn't want you to ever tell her to just pull the nail out of her head, then she doesn't need to bring you the story about the nail in her head.

I heard somewhere that the vest way to deal with this is to both - listen and fix. You listen first and let them vent and work through the emotional part, THEN you can work on fixing the problem because a) you now have much better information to work with and b) they are in a state of mind to think clearly and less emotionally. It also means you don't have to wonder if you need to listen or fix, because you just do both each time. I know many times people like to leap into fixing this GS haven't actually taken time to understand the situation

The single mom can be intelligent. But I think reality hit her hard when she entered the dating market as a single mother. Her options dwindled drastically because whether you agree or not men typically don't want to date single mothers. Self-esteem drops quick when the men chasing you goes from a 100 to 1. If she looked liked that and didn't had a kid she'd have very different answers imo.

In my opinion, online dating puts a large amount of people into the dating pool who wouldn't naturally be there. You find a lot of the socially awkward, couch potatoes, and such, hiding behind an online profile, meaning the interaction isn't representative of how it would be in real life. It's hard to know whether you like someone until you see them face to face and are able to see body language, hear tone, etc. So... Online dating isn't "real," although it tends to feel real. It's easier to get attached to someone who's not a great match before actually getting to know them foreal. Social media gives the illusion of connection without actually connecting in a meaningful way. We see all the happy stuff, the funny, the good... We're not seeing how they really feel on the days they're struggling or life isn't so perfect. Connecting in person feels less important because we see each other online and think we're actually seeing each other. We're missing the tears, the real smiles, our hearts.

ONline dating only benefits women and attractive guys. Alot of women use it just for attention or free food from dates, as plenty of studies have shown. Guys do actually try to meet women ASAP but it's the women who tend to ghost the men than vice versa.

Online dating has yes widened the dating pool but with less commitment and less pressure and is easier cause once things aren't how they want they can just block the other person with no consiqences. And this may seam all great. But cause of this people don't take the risk of letting the other really get to know them. Instead all you see is what the other person wants you to see and it can all be a lie or theater.

I feel like these videos from this channel are very reflective and well done. I see a lot of content on social media that actively tries to bash men and praise women or bash women and praise men. Rarely do you ever see an actual discussion between individuals attempting to find common ground. I like the way these guys went about their questions and the way the guests actually reflected and thought about their response (some more than others). Overall it's a really good video.

I believe the question about equality and wage equality as it relates to the dynamic between who pays for what is going to have to change. Because women claim that they are strong, independent and don't need a man, therefore it means you don't need our money or our support, which means you need to step up to the table just like you expect us to. Therefore you will be the first to put your heart, mind and wallet out there for our discretionary use. How does it feel when the expectations are put on you?
