A very useful tip that I learned lately: Pressing *Ctrl+L* in the nautilus file manager will enable you to type _paths,_ which is usually very handy at times.

Also, thanks for the Time Stamps, because that makes it so easy to skip a topic, if you don't care about it. Also, please, in future, put list of the timestamps into the Description, where we can scan it and see what applies to us -- where we can jump to it immediately. Yet, how you have done it, really saves us time, even if we don't have a full list in the Description of the Tips. Thanks.

Point noted. Will try to do it in all the future videos where it matters.

Gnome Files (Nautilus) is not exactly bad, it's just that there are so much better options available in my opinion, such as Dolphin in KDE Plasma for example.
@itsfoss Жыл бұрын
That's quite subjective. Different people feel differently and I am glad we have choices in Linux for these things :)

I was kind of hoping you would start off with showing How to ACCESS Nautilus in the first place after installing it by a sudo command. How and where do I Open Nautilus after doing a successful install?
@itsfoss Жыл бұрын
hmm... which Linux and desktop environment are you using? Nautilus comes preinstalled with GNOME disk and this video is meant for GNOME users who already have this file explorer.

[Newer to LInux, so, hopefully, you don't mind me asking a question ...] Okay, on the File Browser (say Nautilus or some other FB) on the Sidebar (hope that's right word), I see that there are directory shortcut links. Now, I would want to change those easily, but I see you have to run some stuff from the command line. However, I saw some Linux KZbinr show one File Browser that had a pop-up where you could easily edit those sidebar shortcuts. Do you know the name of the file browser that you can install which has easily manipulation of those. Because I don't give a crap about Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc., because all of those I will never use. But, I would have jumps to my Server's main directory, my basic Home directory, etc. So, I wish that all of the File Browsers had a pop-up or panel that would appear where you could add & remove them visually without using CLI scripts. So, could you make a video on that, or explain it here.

The Meta directories (Documents, Videos, Music, Downloads etc) cannot be removed from Sidebar (usually) in Nautilus. If you want to add some other folder in the sidebar, you just have to drag and drop it to the sidebar or press Ctrl+D (if I recall correctly).
