I don't know if this is accurate at all, but speaking of research before using any , _ - etc for especially larger projects, I'd want to know more about server spiders and tracking. Any kind of delineation might deter search if the spider is set to search up to the first delineation (symbol). If so, the string report would break. Just something that came to mind.

Regarding 17:32 - have you tested this? Going by what Etsy tells us, you don't need all 3, you should be able to rank for 'soda' and 'pop' just by having 'soda pop'. Same with tee' and 'shirt', they can just be one tag 'tee shirt'. Single word tags aren't recommended as it's a waste of space. They say not to repeat but then they also say keywords that appear in the same tag are stronger than keywords appearing in separate tags. At the end of the day, all you need is your keywords, everywhere you can get them. Niche keywords are gold, and when all is said and done, what really ranks you is conversion and feedback rates. I'd love to see a video talking about conversion, it's so critical but no one talks about it!

I grew up calling it "pop". But I also know that in some parts of the US, it is called "soda", or "soda pop". At some time in my twenties, I began calling it "soda pop" because the single syllable word "pop" can easily be misunderstood while the term "soda pop" is pretty much always understood, even from a distance or in a noisy environment.

Interesting point about how to say shirt. I notice though that etsy will rank me for terms I don’t even use bc I tested this. For example some people call sweatshirts jumpers which I usually don’t use. I was going to add it but then I tested a search for jumper and I showed up. It did say at one point in etsy seo guide that you dont need to write every type of way to say t shirt that they will rank you for them regardless. Are you finding something different or suggesting multiple ways to say shirt to be safe, not seem so spammy? Thanks

Hey, as usual, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm curious about one thing, namely how to correctly check if my product appears on the first page for a specific phrase. When I simply search on Etsy, it's often found somewhere at the top, but when I check in incognito mode, it's not there at all. How do you do it?

Usually for rank checking you have to either go incognito or use a rank tracking software such as Everbee or eRank, etc. that pulls data from a server that can't be influenced by prior search queries. I've been using the Everbee chrome extension because it now has a 'rank checker' that you can sync your listings and it will show where you rank per tag which is a new feature that just came out. Outside of rank tracking software there is just incognito/private browser but sometimes it's like finding a needle through a haystack haha!

I don't think it's necessary as far as I've seen bestsellers ranking for a mix and match of keyword phrases between the title, description and tags so that leads me to assume commas or any type of separators do not matter from experience and just take up extra space that could be used for a keyword. I think that's my own toxic trait is using commas still even though I know they may not be necessary😅

1) Is the location that shows up in the front page of a POD seller the location of the seller or is that the location from where the products are shipped from (e.g. awkward styles address)? I usually put 'soda pop' in one tag, the phrases and mixing keywords is great because search engine algorithms 'mix and match' keywords that are in phrases so if you put 'soda pop' and 't-shirt tee' in two seperate tags, sometimes you can rank for the phrase 'soda t-shirt' even if they aren't together. Haha to the pop- my fiance is from Illinois and he says pop, I also say pop and am from Indiana. Hopefully this helps! :)
