I think I know exactly what app you are talking about. It's called Beauty Keeper. It's so great and will even send you an alert on your phone when something expires. It even lets you add notes to each product listing, so I always will put what shade (if applicable) and my thoughts on the product so I know if I want to repurchase it.

I made a reminders app list. So if I open something that has a 1 year life after opening I’ll set the reminder’s date for 1 year. Or for sunscreen I’ll enter it’s expiration date

Just a tip for the Nars pump you are keeping. Don't try and clean it, instead wipe off the outside of the but then pump through some of the product so it gets pushed out. The preservative in the foundation will keep the pump "clean" You don't want to risk getting water in the pump because that will introduce the potential for bacteria growth.

I love your declutter videos! I would suggest buying the LA Girl white mixing pigment so that you can lighten your foundation shades if they are too deep for you. It has been such a game changer in my routine. I also have the blue mixing pigment to neutralize when the shades are too warm for me.

Love your declutter videos - they are a great example for other influencers who are overloaded with products they never use. That said, I think makeup has a longer shelf life than people think (if you look up FDA guidance) - I would keep any product I use and love, unless it has obviously turned..

Use a color-coordinated paint pen system that corresponds to months of the year you opened it on. Always a fun reason to whip those paint pens out in your fun colors.

Beauty Keeper not a only tracks the date you purchase and expiration date- but also tracks the date you open something and recommend shelf life because this is often ignored. Once you open a product the shelf life is usually up before a products expiration date. I love that the app tracks everything- I use it to see what is expiring each month and decide if I want to repurchase or try something new. It's helped me be more mindful with my collection

I spent hours yesterday weeding out makeup. It’s been ridiculous for a loooong time - gotta stop being influenced by influencers. 🤣 I don’t wear makeup very often anymore so there’s no reason to have 15 foundations - I now have three. 👍🏼 (not to mention blush and eyeshadows 😳) Write the date on the bottle with a Sharpie to know when you opened something.

I use little round stickers I found in Dollar Tree and place the date on all makeup and skin care. Products work more effectively and I have limited waste. I no longer keep backups and have been on a no buy since 9-2018.

The timing of this video was perfect. I'm needing to get a new foundation and I totally trust your recommendations. If it's good enough for you to keep that long, through so many declutters and would repurchase again, I've added it to my list to consider. I also think it's great that you've specifically stated that if it wasn't your job, having that many products isn't necessary. So many young people watch these videos and think that's the normal and/or necessary. Thank you for pointing that out. Finally, just grab a fine tip sharpie in your favorite color and just write the month and year on the bottom of product when you open it. Keep the sharpie with your makeup and you'll never wonder when you've opened something again.

I just wanted to yell “most of that stuff has to be expired!!!!!” I get it, you’re a content creator, so it is your job, but at a certain point, some stuff just needs to be thrown out. I love declutter videos but *I myself* don’t toss something by the expiration date 🙈 if it doesn’t smell/look different, it’s performing the same, it’s not giving me any reactions I’m gonna keep it to use it up. The only exception to this is mascara, but I use one up within the expire window.

Jessica, I just did the same. Had a box of powdered foundation & other stuff, realized it’s been well over a year since I touched these. Figured , ewwwwww, shouldn’t use them at this point anyway. Felt good to clear out, and goes hand in hand with a desire to work with what I have this year and use products up. It is so easy to get sucked in and buy yet another lip gloss, or another powder, but I am really going to try to tell myself no new purchases until something is gone. You should try the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. It is unbelievably good. I’ve always had issues with sin screens and white cast, breaking me out and this one looks beautiful on the skin, even works well as a primer, you can find it in Amazon. This line of Korean products is amazingly good an affordable. I’m on my second tube

I love the CT beautiful skin foundation (I'm on my second tube now, sh: 2 neutral). Apply with my hands tapping in, and sometimes finish with a sponge. Looks so natural irl but its light coverage for sure. Only down side is that it doesn't last more than 6+ hours on my oily combo skin (still looks okay but a bit faded, especially during summer). 🌸

@itsjessicabraun HEADS UP! Your expiry date 📅 is actually connected to the first time you open the product. And then find the symbol that usually looks like a round can where the lid is popped open on the packaging. The symbol has letters in it like 6m for six months or 24m for 24 months. This means that this is the longest period of time you can use it before you should though it away from the opening date. So maby it would help you to date mark the bottle when you open it to help you keep track. The expiry date comes in to play when you open it for the first time and are close to it, then it can reduce the suggested use time in the symbol. The Shesheido radiant Synchro Skin is my absolute HOLY GRAIL foundation‼️‼️‼️I have yet to try ANYTHING that can stand up to this foundation and I’ve tried so many over the years!!! I am 60 years old in April!!! I do mix it with a bit of the L’Oréal serum foundation in the summer to darken it just a bit when I’m more tanned. I get constant compliments whenever I use it👍🏼❤️❣️ and my age is definitely starting to show! Love, love, LOVE❣️❣️❣️I use the Revlon photo finish primer in the white plastic bottle with the pink cap on my face beforehand, just where my pores are a bit large. I use the Lancôme Tente Idole concealer under my eyes and the LYS powder to set my under eyes. I use the Dior Powder no Powder as my finishing powder. For my eyeshadow, I love using the Persona Identity 1 palette. Thrive lash extensions mascara. Wet and Wild Semma brown eyeliner. Maybelline lifter glosses!!! Ta da!!!😂! TMI?Blushes and bronzers vary.

The Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin is hands down the best foundation I’ve tried this past year!!!! It’s gorgeous and flawless. I apply with a beauty blender. I have gfs purchasing it now bc it’s become such a HG for me. Try a shade that works for you Jessie. It’s beautiful ❤❤❤

Jessica, i always put a sticker on my cream/ liquid products when i've opened them 😉. I have currently a Missha BB Cream Cover FX ( is the one with red cap ) in my project pan , probably 5 or 6 uses left and is sooooo beautiful on my skin , i love it and i will definitely repurchase it! And that L'Oréal Age Perfect BB Cream was my best discovery for 2022 , i've already used up one !
