This really pulled on my heart strings, my dad passed away in may of 2019 and left his truck to me. Your story is extremely close to mine in many many ways. I never had a decent relationship with him but i grew up in his truck so i definitely understand what you mean by describing all the memories. I've had family members tell me to sell it because it needs so much work to get it road worthy again but it'll never happen. That truck is with me forever. Thanks for making awesome content man, i really enjoy watching your videos and I'm always looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for preserving this car. My mother was given a 67 RS Deepwater Blue Camaro by her dad Christmas of 1967. It was her first car and she drove it all through high school. He traded it for a 442 when she went to college. (She never forgave him for doing this lol) As a child I grew up listening to stories of that car and she had a picture of it that she kept in her wallet when I was a kid. Later she kept the picture on her dresser in her room. The picture was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. Your car is the first REAL 67 RS Deepwater Blue I have seen outside of the picture I grew up with. Again thank you for saving/sharing her with everyone and allowing me to relive some of my childhood.

My grandpa was a ford dealer and when they came out with the production ford GT they held a contest and the best selling dealers were put in a raffle for one and he won. I can relate to this on a sentimental value as me and my dad have been working on a resto mod of my grandfathers 72 Chevelle Heavy Chevy and when my grandfather passed the car was given to my dad and since my dad has gotten it we have restored everything and one day he tells me that when me and him work on the car together, he imagines him workin on the car with his dad and all the work that we have done to it is based on my opinions because my dad told me that when his time comes the car will be passed to me. 3 generations in the car, a lot of memories and a lot of tears. So I can very much relate to how you feel Gavin. Gorgeous car and can’t wait to see her brought back to life Cherish every moment you have cuz you never know if it’ll be the last time you see a loved one

yo Gavin this makes me so emotional cause my dad had troubles with alcoholism his whole life. ended up getting diagnosed with cancer and he cut way back and was actually sober for days at a time. i spent some time with him and that’s when i got to really, really meet him for the first time and i told him we would work on cars (i had a 94 firebird formula, the thing always needed work) and we would have a blast and i’d come see him all the time. he ended up passing and we never got the chance to work on any vehicles but i’m building my own cars and i’m imagining him right over my shoulder the whole way. it literally felt like a part of my heart was filled in, watching this. 6 media kudos to you guys for always having the top notch edits! it’s all love! and y’all are right.....it’s never about the car

It never happened, he died 1.5 years ago and all the way until the end he chose to not be a part of the lives of his children. Gavin thanks for sharing your story . My dad passed away 5 years ago and my life hasn't been the same since . My birth mom left my dad when I was like 2 years old if I was even that old she left with me and my half sister . When my dad got home from work and found out she left he was in TN we went back to Missouri . Dad came and got me and I stayed with him till he passed away . I'll be 44 soon and I understand being emotional about a dad . I'm 43 and I will cry for just the thought of my dad . He meant so much to me . My dad bought an 87 grandnational new in 87 . My dad was a Buick guy and as his son it influenced me to be the same as most sons are . For me and alot of other sons in our tiny minds our fathers were our first hero and the toughest man we ever met . I'm sorry for ram bling on my point is you don't have to justify what that car means to you and why you won't ever sell it . It will never have the emotional value to someone else that is does to you . To someone else it's just a cool piece of history but to you it's your history

I can’t watch this video ... I got halfway through it and just lost it. I lost my dad in 2018 and we weren’t _that close_ and Gavin your history with your father sounds very similar to mine except there were two cars. I did get the family car I grew up with spending my last penny on it to get it running after it sat neglected for a few years. After getting it mostly functional (refreshed engine, suspension, fixed the A/C some electrical, issues new wheels) he took the car back claiming he said “I could drive it, but it was his...” I was pissed and always had resentment about that moment. Life went on, that car eventually was wrecked (my fault; and it was repaired to a drivable state) but during that time he acquired a truck that I thought had potential if he fixed it (I wasn’t going to do it given our history with cars). I did put an engine in it and kept it going for several decades but I wasn’t going to do any major repairs. My father passed away a little over a year ago and even though we talked about fixing up his old truck it never happened and watching this video has me crying more than I did when he actually passed away. I have got to get to work, I can blow my red eyes on being out late for January 1 and the sniffles on being sick… DAMMIT Gavin I wasn’t ready for this!

I feel this story. hit super close to home. my grandpa got into an accident when i was little little and from the money he got from that he gave my dad the money to buy a 69 mustang. it was the first car i drove (killed it multiple times trying to get out of the driveway haha) and my grandpa passed away almost 3 years ago now and we are restoring the car in memory of him. i was always told from the time we bought the car till now that it will someday be mine so i go and help my dad work on it and pay for a lot of the restoration things that need done on it as well so its a HUGE father son project that also has part of my grandpas spirit in it. I 100% feel that connection to a car and no amount of money could ever change that. cant wait for you to start restoring it.

I’d keep it all original to keep the value but since you’re never going to sell it. Make it your own!

This video brought back all the memories I had with my dad working on Harley Davidsons in our garage. He passed away in August of 2018 and whenever I see his Harley sitting in the garage, it brings back all of the memories of working on it and riding together. If I could give anyone a piece of advice, it’s to always have a relationship with your parents. Because one day, you will only have those memories you have with them, so make the best of it while you still have them around. Good luck with the resto and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

I honestly dont have the right words for this. Best thing i can do is relate. As my father gave me his 57' Chevy 210 when he passed. still has the original straight 6 with the 3 speed on the column. Your passion for all things cars is out of this world. Keep it up, man.

I can not wait to see this project completed! I'm glad you were able to keep something like this in the family and keep those memories alive. My mom's '80 Z28 is what got me into Camaros and I've passed that passion on to my son and daughter. Great video guys, damn near brought me to tears!

Most genuine dude on KZbin, I am so so glad by the grace of God I found you just by watching through random car videos! I’ve never seen a guy that I can truly look up that matches my interests, only thing I’ve ever been interested in is Cars, Music, and football. So thank you for being such an inspiration not only for me but for others out there! Nobody’s doin it like you man keep it up

That is a beautiful car! I’m in the same situation with my dads 1967 Oldsmobile 442. He recently past away unexpectedly. It’s been a sitting for at least 10 years now and it’s been a dream of mine to work on it and get it going with him. I love that 442 so much. So many great memories with it when I was a kid. I am stoked to see a true classic on your channel!
