I’m in Central NJ and just got a 325 sq studio above a garage for $1400 (no washer dryer access). Only 4.5 years ago I was paying $900 for a beautiful 1 br w/ washer dryer in unit, all hardwood floors, tons of closet space, attic storage, and patio. It’s been really really really hard to adapt and to accept the way life is now. So hard to make progress and that’s why everyone is bitter, hostile and stressed these days while the wealthy are sitting in the sand at their beach houses commenting about how the average person just doesn’t like to work.

tysm for this video!! In the same boat myself rn and youre one of the ONLY people showing a realistic budget for a studio/1bed in LA whereas most other “relatable” youtubers were looking in the $3000-$5000 range MINIMUM.. like this doesnt help bc most of us cant afford that 😂🤦♀️ (also find it absolutely hilarious that so many ppl commented on your video saying the prices are insane but not on those other videos lmao)

I got my 1 bedroom apt in mid-city LA in 2020 for $1,570 a month. It’s a large one bedroom with a parking spot, balcony and 2 walk in closets. There are deals all over you just have to look. If you’re looking for a brand new apt you’re for sure going to pay a premium but I wanted old LA vibes so I got what I wanted.

It probably depends on the neighborhood and landlord. I live in a similar arrangement in a suburb close to LA proper, and close to the beach. I can park on the street, leave my car doors unlocked and haven't had an issue in 2 years. A lot of retail and restaurants close by as well. Of course there were tradeoffs--its not as big as I would like and its farther away from the city center. But I get a lot of light, my main living area faces a shared garden and it's very private. And because I live close to the ocean it's rarely too hot or too cold. I can actually breathe in the sea breeze. It's also suburban so very quiet. The landlord lives on the property, and there are other tenants, but we rarely interact since we're always out and about. I did go through a real estate agency though, so I pay rent to the agency, not directly to the owner of the property.
@fan1.07 ай бұрын
Those numbers for utilities is really low. My utilities usually cost around $900 a month (gas, electric, and water). I moved into an apartment with plans on being a homeowner as soon as possible. Turns out that in my area it's cheaper to own than to rent.

California is insane with the rent prices. I moved back with my mom to save money about 3 years ago. I left my 2 bedroom apartment with nice kitchen and one and a half bathrooms. Cost me 1700 a month. I went apartment hunting last week and now I get less space, outdated kitchen and its gonna cost me 2500 a month. Its ridiculous!!! That's 800 more for a crappier apartment. It was so crappy apartment hunting but I went with the most affordable 2 bedroom for my little family. (My daughter, bf, cat, dog and I). Every nicer place was expecting us to make 3x the rent and 650 credit score. Smh. It was very hard to find anything decent. No wonder there's so much homelessness now. Its inhumane to charge that much. Smh it angers me.
